- Rebecca Frasure of Forest Grove, Ore., tested positive for the novel coronavirus after two weeks aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, currently moored off Yokohama, Japan. She was removed from the ship Friday and taken to hospital in Tokyo.

Influenza isn't this aggressive to old people and people who have other diseases already. It's typical for viruses that jump from animals to humans to be very deadly to certain kinds of races or age groups. So yes no panic but don't be egoistic and don't contribute to spreading it by beeing reckless because for us young people it's just a sore throat and maybe a bit coughing so wash your hands and don't cough into them because u could spread it to someone's mum or dad. The numbers are wrong one way or another.
And now, you also need to imagine that when every western news first reported it without much of information or understanding and how much panic that they’ve created during that time which also pass on to a lot of people inside China through social media app. And then everyone rush to the hospital for testing which created quite a chaos at the time too.
Killing 108 people a day is not a little number, there is going to be a mutation in february too and incubation period turned out to be 24 days instead of 14, for example your classmate may have it but show no symptoms, whatever his DNA touches is now infected. This virus is much scarier than you imagine, if numbers increase like this in 1 month coronavirus will be killing 570 people per day

It takes 2 weeks to show symptoms, that’s why people are being quarantined for 2 weeks if they fee fine in those 2 weeks they are not infected.

Only difference is pricey healthcare in America is GOOD healthcare. Make an appt with your doc and see them in 2 days, no problem. Need to go to the walk in? 30 minute wait. Same with dental and vision. I would rather wait for an hour in the e.r with healthcare that I PAY for rather than wait 7-9 hours with free healthcare.
catchyouontheflop here’s the thing. In America (United States) we don’t have tax deductions from our paychecks towards healthcare. Countries with free healthcare do. We pay as much for health insurance as a foreign country would for taxes towards healthcare. Perks of capitalist private healthcare is the fact that it is very high quality :) I’m content with our healthcare system.
@@Luna-pt8tu well I suppose that's about the only time I've heard of universal healthcare being quick. People have shown that in Canada, for example. Patients had to wait up to 9 hours with broken legs in the e.r waiting room, amongst about 100 other patients waiting to get looked at. If I have a broken leg here in Wisconsin I would be checked in 30 minutes, no problems.

It's like the virus is searching for the weakest people. It uses normal healthy people as carriers and will jump from person to person until it finds the perfect host...
If it’s that contagious, how would her husband not have it also? Should he have not been brought to hospital? They left him in the room she was in? I’m so confused.
The virus use an ACE2 receptor site on cells to gain access to cells. Some studies have shown about 10% of the Anglo population does not have ACE2 receptor sites. He may be one of the lucky ones and the virus could not gain access to his cells. We might all be human but we are actually pretty different on the DNA level.
Also, they may be testing him (and others in quarantine on the ship) regularly to reevaluate whether he has gotten the virus.

Reports say now 5 days most show signs and 14 days majority do. Very few go longer than 2 weeks no symptoms.

@@tadpoled9928 Jesus, it's already been stated that this virus mainly affects older people and those with underlying health problems the most. The virus has so far killed only 1 person under the age of 20 and none under the age of 10. Most kids don't even have any serious symptoms. If you interviewed one of them, of course you'll get different answers. Even people in their 30s+ many will be mild, some will be severe. Is apocalyptic level panic warranted? No, but if left unchecked, the amount of people spreading the disease will cripple the health system. Just so you know if an entire hospital is busy dealing with corona virus patients and you get shot, or sick with something else, what now? Other diseases aren't just going to be nice and stop from infecting you. It's the huge tsunami of actually severe cases that cripples the hospitals is the big issue.

She contradicted herself in this interview which is why personal testimony is so unreliable. She said at 1:04 that she had a cough and fever which subsequently resolved. Yet later in the interview she is asked directly what her symptoms were and she answers that she had no symptoms.
and they are saying now could be up to 24 days after exposure to symptoms
@@susie2251 it sounds like she doesn't consider a little cough and low grade fever to be a big deal at all and just used treating sicknesses at home... which is the most dangerous attitude in this situation
Lee Milby actually no. It’s EXACTLY what should be done. Self treat at home with self isolation unless the symptoms Get so bad as to REQUIRE medical attention. People panicking and running to the doctor with sniffles is the worst possible thing that can happen. Hospitals will be overwhelmed with hypochondriacs. Unless it turns into actual breathing problems there is nothing the hospital can do anyway. Stay at home.

Prolly because she knows Japan has free healthcare and she wont have a 6 figure hospital bill at discharge like she would have had if she was hospitalized in the US. So shes getting 100% free hospital care in Japan who also has some of the best healthcare services in comparison to the rest of the world.

Well, if I tested positive for COVID-19, I'd probably be counting my blessings to have ended up in a decent healthcare system with mild symptoms. True, she could get worse. Could..... but will she? I don't know. If not, then I'd mostly be glad, but also concerned for folks with compromised health.
