  • In this video Marty shows you how to use a DMX512 Decoder and Driver with XLR ports. This unit is identical to our AL-CTLR-DMXDEC Decoder/Driver, except that in addition to the standard RJ45 DMX ports, it also features XLR-style DMX ports.
This DMX512 Decoder and Driver takes a DMX signal and uses it to drive the RGB channels on your LED fixtures, providing full color and brightness control. Simply connect the DMX input on this unit, assign its DMX channel ID using the dip switches on the product, and connect the red, green and blue wires on your LED fixture. Within minutes, you'll be controlling your LED fixtures via DMX.
This DMX512 decoder/driver is compatible with all of aspectLEDs RGB LED fixtures.

Great video! May I ask you a question? When I use this controller with DMX Control software it works great but the led strips have always fade in and out when I change colors. Do you have the same behavior or your led strips changes colors instantly?

Great question! This is dependent on your encoder.

What kind of cable did you use to get power to the decoder? My IEC cable has 3 wires and I only need 2!

I have been trying to get an answer to this question and no one has helped me yet. I'm really hoping you can help me. I am planning on getting a 32 channel DMX decoder so that I can run my own lighting for a piano and stage project. My question is this. If I run, let's say, 8 different lights from that one decoder will they all change with each other or will they be able to function and change color apart from each other. In other words, would I be able to have complete control of each light independently of each other or would I need separate decoders for this? Thanks so much in advance!

Hey that is a great question. So on DMX each address is it's own channel. So out of 32 if you divide that by 4, you would have 8 different RGBW address combinations to program independently. Anything on the same address will be the exact same thing. Thanks for the question and if you need any other help, reach out to our LED experts at support@aspectled.com we would be happy to work with you in getting your project set up!

What power supply are you using to power the decoder?

      5-24v

Glad you asked! The power supply size is dependent upon the size of the load. At 24 volts DC, the maximum wattage is 384 watts.

Hello. Just search for "DMX DIP Address" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
