I'm sure that some one has already pointed this out, but in the Batman film, he wore the suit and mask, but he also wore the tights. Can't remember the cane though. That expression tho....... Keep up the good work! Love this channel. I have learned so much!
Most likely, the reason he's in the suit is because Frank Gorshin utterly despised the tights, and had the suit made and tailored himself. Regardless of how often he was seen in tights vs. the suit, the suited look IS Gorshin's Riddler.
There are pics of him in the suit and hat holding a gun in the same hand as the model's cane hand. If you had or could get a model one to scale that would look pretty nice, gun in one hand and hat in the other. Using the cane hand would work with some slight sculpting. That would be menacing and pretty Riddler-esque. Also...the eyes on the back of the box look like they are rolled back slightly which is just adding to the whole "o face" effect. Maybe if you paint them more forward or slightly downward it will decrease the...ahem...effect.
Just a thought..but maybe You could somehow use epoxy sculpt and sculpt a new mouth. I'm not a sculptor but if Your talented that way maybe it could work? Love Your videos Doc...
If he's looking up (like he is in the paint job on the back of the box), then that expression is creepy. If he's looking down (like he is on the front), then that expression is... less creepy.
It seems to me (based on what I can see) that the face looks really bad if the Riddler is looking up. If you paint his dyer to be looking off to one side, then it looks like he is howling at something (which should look better).
Man.. That face sculpt is unfortunate.. Shame its more epoxy putty than plastic too. Wonder what happened, the previous kits were nowhere near this problematic, were they?
Unfortunate but not too surprising I suppose. Molds are expensive, and at some point you just have to give up. I Looking pretty great so far though, your work is as impressive as always.
"Show her my Oh face! oh! Oh! OH!" Office Space. Good stuff. You gave me a few good chuckles with your dismay. Anyway, it looks like Frank at Moebius is rushing these kits to market. He said on his Facebook page several months ago that he wanted to get the last three kits (The Riddler, The Joker, and the styrene Batgirl) out and done by the end of this year. Perhaps he didn't give his sculptor, Jeff Yagher, enough time. If the kit had the same expression as the box art, now, THAT looks like Frank Gorshin. As for the texture, that comes from the molds not being polished enough. Again, my guess is Frank is rushing. I watched your Penguin build and the problems that kit had. Moebius has a reputation for excellence in kit engineering, fit, and finish. Their original series Battlestar Galactica kit practically assembled itself. Curious...
That choice of expression is... lets just say odd. Unprimed and unpainted, the mask seems to make it look at least a little better; operative word there being "seems". The de-laminating plastic sounds like they might have had an issue either with mold release or some sort of contaminant got into the mold/plastic; that might also explain the odd texturing on some parts of the kit.
The expression on the cover was awesome! That's really sad they don't sculpt that! Maybe sculpting a new mouth more closed could be a solution. Or maybe painting the eyes looking down instead that looking up! Not for a weird sexual reason...just to make it look like in the cover!
Blah blah blah...I didn't think the riddler ever shut his mouth...looks dead on to me. That's how I remember him. Even with all the filling it looks like a normal kit to me. They all require some work. that's all part of the fun of building models. It's all part of the experience! Looks like another slam dunk by Moebius...
Well, that face sucks... That said, I think you can either salvage it by remodelling the lower part of the face, or shop around for a custom 1/8 scale sculpt. I know there are a lot of sculptors making stuff in 1/6, and you might get lucky. One guy I like is Tony Barton (www.antheads.co.uk/) who might be able to help if given some time. Granted, he works in 1/6, but he might be persuaded to do a 1/8 for once. :)
had the same problem of the flakey dead skin stuff on the viper mk 2, primered it, sanded it, re primered it, still there, binned it, that's me and mobeus models done 👎
IMO this is typical Moebius. Slightly overpriced with underwhelming kit quality. Their newer kits are better, but not by much. Nice job with a turd of a kit. Looking forward to Part 2.
The scultor must have felt VERY lonely as he was working on this miniature's face and ended up using it for his... purposes. It's the only explaination I can give to it being so ugly.
"They could have put him in tights, and it would've looked so much better"
Hmm maybe they thought that face with tights would be a step too far.....
"He has something in his mouth....He has a hair in his mouth!!!" I broke up laughing. Thank you for that.

Hope that someone comes out with a replacement resin head / face for this kit. Someday?
Boy! What a tricky kit, full of flaws. Well done for assembling it so satisfactorily

If it's the episode I'm thinking of, the gun is actually a cigarette lighter.
Frank hated the tights and so they made the suit for him. He used the cane.
The Figure without cane looks like the long lost member of the "Laurel, Hardy and Gorshin Comedy Trio"
love these kits amazing work also
What brand model is this? Can you give me a brand or an address? Thx~
Hahah that expression on his face !
Did you finish the kit where are the other videos on this build
Easy riddle. He wants the John lol much love doc. Longtime subscriber here
Do you ever think you will show how to make a chaos blood bowl team?
No plans.

The Clock King definitely said kill.
A good honest look, no doubt you'll turn it into a show stopper. Accurate or not, I would like to see the cane used.
Have you considered painting the new miniatures for Dark Souls The Board Game?
It seems to me (based on what I can see) that the face looks really bad if the Riddler is looking up. If you paint his dyer to be looking off to one side, then it looks like he is howling at something (which should look better).
I think the model is more based off the 1966 movie then the tv show
Man.. That face sculpt is unfortunate.. Shame its more epoxy putty than plastic too. Wonder what happened, the previous kits were nowhere near this problematic, were they?
Not that I recall. i know this one was delayed several times do to casting problems, so that may shed some light on the issues.

Okay I swear there was a part 2 to this and it's just gone... or am I crazy?
Soon.

Seriously?! Couldn't they have given him a snarky grin instead?
maybe its the camera but his head looks really big for his legs lol
good luck making the face look cool. but i belive in youre gonna amaze us

the face would look a little better if his eyes were looking straightforward instead of upwards imo
no, adult things
That hair was from his last "john".
