    YES! Show us the 30 minute version!
    "Textures & Meshes & Scripts! . . . oh my! "
    " And THAT spells trouble! Right here in River City!"
    . . . . or should that be "Riverwood"???
    Once again, a BIG "Thank You!" for another clear and informative modding lesson.
    I have used speed runs myself in the past, although maybe not at "Sonic the Hedgehog" speed!
    I am still such an amateur modder after even a few years of building my own lists, and these tips are just so valuable!
    It usually is just like you said. Some mods "Have GREAT potential, but lack effort and do not play well with others".
    And one hell of a time it is just "User Error"!!!
    I DO have a question that someone else left in their comment about the size of savegames.
    Can you possibly elaborate more on how to practice safe saving?

    • @biggie_boss
      @biggie_boss  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Safe saving: Don't save after entering a new cell (walking through a door, fast traveling, etc_ for at least 30 seconds after. Don't save in combat. If you die, exit to desktop and reload the game.
      Also, make sure to check your engine fixes settings to increase your save size to prevent false positives. Avoid long-term bloat mods like LOTD on heavily modded setups. (Any giant worldspace/player home mod that doesn't reset cells can cause issues but LOTD is the most common one).

      I second this! The main crashes I encounter in my game are when loading a save after playing a while. After a restart it loads fine.
      I noticed that DNGG uses a mod that restarts the game when loading a save and you are using a Death Alternative... Is this simply a known Skyrim issue?
      Autosave and Quicksafe are turned off - is there more to safe saving?

      I remember there was a safe save guide I read somewhere, so I'll just copy and share that:
      1. Never save in combat
      2. When you die, exit the whole game and start skyrim again, then load your last save
      3. Don't enable and/or use autosaves
      4. Don't remove mods mid-game (although I think texture and UI mods should be fine)
      5. Don't add mods mid-game (this can be more contentious. If you know what you're doing, adding certain mods can be safe even in a long playthrough)
      6. Wait at least 30 secs after sleeping or entering a new zone before saving
      7. Never save more than once per minute

      Ye the problem is...if anyone make a modlist or a game in general should make it works nice, fixing all these stupid problem not saying "do this to fix the crashes". Is no sense that u can't have auto save, but u can't save often and then when u die you need to restart...bruh it's unplayable if I need to do these things everytime I lose patience

    I think the misconception about large load orders being unstable comes from inexperienced modders adding mod after mod without thinking about compatibility and stability. But as you learn to mod it becomes much easier to pay attention to those things and build large list that are stable. I always tell people a stable list of 300 mods is more impressive that a choppy list of 1000.

    My problem is bloated saves. Had an 8-month-old, 300+ hour run on Lost Legacy, and it became unplayable just wirh time. Preventing that would be amazing, but I have no idea if it's possible.

      That's likely due to the nature of LOTD there are ways to clean the references tho

    Good video and I agree with everything you said. However, I think perhaps the more pertinent question is: can a large modlist remain stable throughout a longer playthrough? That, too me atleast, seems harder to achieve, considering things like savegame size, scripts, cloaking effects, etc.

    • @biggie_boss
      @biggie_boss  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. Scripts aren't the issue as long as you practice safe saving. Save size hasn't been an issue since engine fixes came out.

  • @VonCrestain
    @VonCrestain 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Maybe it just me but I crash every time when I load a saved game. The Modlist plays great and only problem I have is with the load of a saved game in game not when I restart the game from desktop.

    • @biggie_boss
      @biggie_boss  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's due to the safe auto reloader. Requiem also has a failsafe for the same thing. Basically, the game is preventing you from corrupting your save for long playthroughs.

    • @VonCrestain
      @VonCrestain 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Honestly the amount of mods doesn't matter, but rather the type of mods and how they interact with each other.
    I can easily build a 2000+ modlist that only includes texture, mesh and maybe sound replacers without a single ESP plugin that would be just as stable as the vanilla game can be (as long as VRAM isn't exceeded of course)
    I can also build a 100+ modlist full of heavily scripted and conflicting mods that would be an absolute mess.
    My personal modlist has way over 1200+ individual armors that don't touch any vanilla records and have zero conflicts with other mods for example, and because of that those can never really be an issue until they're actually added to a character's inventory. And that's on top of another 4000+ mods, so yeah the mount is irrelevant in the end.
    It's kinda funny when people brag about having a large modlist considering how easy it actually is to pile up mods like those armors I mentioned or simple replacers.

    • @biggie_boss
      @biggie_boss  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My list has 2,500 plugins and tons of them conflict with records. The key is knowing how to patch them. My list is also fairly script-heavy.

    • @RetrOrigin
      @RetrOrigin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@biggie_boss Yup, as long as you take care of conflicts the amount of mods doesn't really matter.
      Heck even if you don't patch everything it doesn't necessarily means you're game should be unstable. Sure you'll run into landscape tears, clipping objects/structures, missing menus or other odd things but I've actually seen some haphazardly built modlists that somehow manage to be stable.
      Some people just don't like to read and follow instructions and that's what usually leads to problems.

    i think most folk getting ctd because of they installed modpacks,modlist on avarage or potato pc,there is chance for ctd at 15-fps.i do have ryzen 5 cpu and 1080 video.Crashes rarely occures when i'm playing 1-1,5 hour with mention that i always doing mostly manual saving.I doubt that 'avarage potato' would handle more than 1k mods even with ur improuved order)
