    I'm 63 and love your sample music. I owned a Marantz, Pioneer, and still have my JVC 5.1 120 watt from 1993. Just bought an Emotive amp to begin the transition of upgrading. Love your show. I learn a lot.

    Great work on that 727.. I still have mine and want to get it back up and running as it should. It was my 1st stereo ..back then..and like the vintage look and sound. Thanks for the journey...

    Used to own a Quadraphonic Pioneer QX-646. It was my first receiver back in 1989 \m/
    Great video as always!

    love that series receiver. I had one since I was a kid, sx-838, loved that thing. had the same problem with it, but I never got around to figuring out how to fix it. I ran it hard for many years, until the power amp gave out in it. I still have it, but took parts off it to fix another of the same model that I got after that one quit on me. maybe one day I'll get around to refurbishing them both. thank you for the video, subbed!

    The 2SC1312 get replaced with KSC1845FTA and their 2SA compliment (probably 2SA672, or 2SA726) with KSA992FTA. And get rid of those robin egg blue Sanyo capacitors! They are a CSSA (solid aluminum) type and they ALL fail short. An electrolytic can replace them, but I use film for 4.7uf and under for those. Depending on which protection board is in there, there are a couple of transistors that will need replaced for continued reliability. If it is the AWM-027 replace Q6 with KSC2383YTA and Q7 with KSC2690AYS. They both take 'er tough and fail over time. If it is the AWM-011, replace Q6 and Q7 with KSC2383YTA, and replace Q8 with KSC2690AYS. There are probably a lot of 2SA672 and/or 2SA726 and they are well known to go noisy just like the 2SC1312 did. They (and their compliment) get replaced with KSA992FTA/KSC1845FTA. By the looks of the blackened leads on that C1312, you will probably find what looks like an "oil slick" forming between the leads at the body. Hold them upside down to the light and look for it. That "slick" becomes conductive and also causes the "crackling" noises. The rust on the screws is a sure sign this unit had seen high humidity and that promotes the growth of the "oil slick". The SX-727 is worth getting it fixed up.

      Jeff, excellent advice! Unfortunately the customer only approved charges for the current issue since this is his secondary receiver.

      @@luvradios The ol' budget limit. I'm sure you'll see it again in the near future. Like the old Fram oil filter commercial went..."You can pay me now, or pay me later" lol! I tell people "later" will cost more than the "now" preventing the "later" from coming. It's cheaper in the long run. Most people have graciously agreed. A few came back "later" grumbling to themselves "I should have listened".. lol!

      Jeff - thanks so much for the info! I just got a pristine 727 from the orig owner that’s been in a box most of its life. Just about to start servicing in a few days. Really appreciate it 👍🏼

      @@luvradios do you have a video on it? that's a tool I need.

    • @luvradios
      @luvradios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pete, I didn't do a video for the signal tracer but it was made from an old Radio Shack battery operated intercom I modified slightly and the injector portion is the board from a Chinese made wire toner, add a few switches, jacks, project case and a 9-volt battery holder and done.
