Thom Yorke was in love with a girl but could never pluck up the courage to talk to her, he actually once got himself drunk so that he could get the confidence to talk to her, it worked but ended up scaring her off. He also once was told that she went to one of Radiohead's concerts and had a huge panic attack as soon as he found out. As others have stated, the band hated this song, it was an early song for them, but for whatever reason the record company latched onto it. During the recording, the guitarist's slamming of that cord was actually meant as a protest, but ironically it helped popularize it and make us take notice of them.
Introducing your kids to “your” music is one of the greatest things you can do. Hearing your 8yr old listening to Nirvana or The Beatles having chosen to is a great feeling. Almost as good as your 5 yr old quoting Monty Python or Faulty Towers 😂

First released in 1992, Creep was rarely given airplay as it was considered too depressing! The song also contains the f word which was not acceptable for the BBC. The band recorded an alternative, substituting the offending word with “very”. The song was re-released in 1993 where it reached number seven in the UK charts So basically you’re hearing the original. I love it. I get the goosebumps when I hear it.
I had 2 tickets to see Radiohead at the Bridlington spa Yorkshire UK Sept 1997. But sold them to some students, due to starting a new job on nights on the same night as the concert. And you start believing it..... or you keep getting rejected by the ones you get feelings for,and you start looking upon yourself as a "creep, who wished he/she was special". Small note, that smacking, loud mute Johnny's doing was actually apparently improvised, he essentially did that in the studio just to screw up the other guys because he disliked how quiet the take sounded (apparently it was one take), they just went with it and it kind of makes the song
Yes, that's it. The quiet and the loud, the perfect and the desperate, that's what conveys all the emotion the song is trying to put out. I have listened to a lot of covers of this song and most fail because the artists don't get this.
He was crying during this version. You can see him wipe them away at 5:42. Girls screamed at him after saying “I wish I was special” said YOU ARE! Hey, Iam from tha Netherlands, this was at PinkPop in Landgraaf. I was at the festival that year. Very good one. Lenney Kravits was there. Look up "Let Love Rule". Good lick with the channel!
Good choice to introduce good music to your daughter. This song is mean a lot to me and this is one of my lifetime favorite song. i listened to this for the first time when i was a teenager untill now for more than 15yrs i'm still listening and sometime sing this song with my guitar when i got my free time.
As said below Thom had a crush on a girl at university but never had the courage to ask her out and ended up kind of stalking her around campus trying to get her to notice him, hence he feels like a creep/weirdo. I also read she was at on of his concerts in the front row dancing to this song never knowing it was about her :)
I would suggest using the album versions first as a "reaction" video.. while i understand that for people who grew up with those songs, the live versions can have an added value, i think it's important to not forget that for the first-time-listener (i.e. your daughter) none of your emotions and memories to the song exist.. emotions and memories that were added over years by listening (most likely primarily) to the album version .. ..and it's better to hear some distinct parts, like here the muted guitar "hits" before the chorus sets in.. they just don't come over properly in this live version, which in my opinion still play a crucial role in the mood this song is setting
1996, We were at home watching this festival on TV (live or same day) and this performance was the first performance of Radiohead we had ever seen, we bought the CD (physical copy) only days later. :-) It's an epic performance in the rain.
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia It definitely put their CD high in the charts that year in the Netherlands. :-) But never reached something like the first position though, clearly at the end of the day Radiohead might not be for everyone.
It has been forever since you have reacted to The Warning. This video popped up in my recommended because Pau (the drummer for The Warning) recorded an absolutely beautiful piano cover of Creep by Radiohead last week. It would be awesome if you could react to it!
One of my all time favourite songs. Annie might like the version by Mimi and Josefin on The Voice Kids Germany 2019. 2 sisters 15 and 13. It's had millions of views
Watching that 13 year old girls face as she experienced the song was like a flashback to how it made me feel at that age hearing it. I was around her age when it came out and I heard it first
I'm glad you're making these, I enjoy them, and its cool youre bonding with your kids over this music and sharing that with us. My one request, these videos are called 13 year old react or etc. but then you jump in and do 90% of the talking. :) Im glad youre passionate; as someone who worked with high school kids for ten years, please give them space to process and share their response before sharing yours. We know YOU are passionate, it is very clear. :D Its easy to unintentionally drown out their own processing with our enthusiasm. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure they don't give a single fuck about your comment and it's just a Dad bonding with his daughter. They're not doing this for you. Get over yourself.
This was Pinkpop 1996 in the Netherlands. I was there as a 16 year old, front row. I have been a fan of Radiohead eversince. What an amazing performance.
Did you notice she was moving her head (just a little bit) while she was listening the song? Finally!!!! Stay with the low ones with her!!! She's a Tough Cookie!!! LOL Nice Reaction!!!!

This song was from the golden era of grunge music and wasn't designed to make u feel happy or sad it was written about his own perspective of how he viewed himself
This is the song which changed Radiohead's whole direction, on their second album. Before that they'd been pretty much standard indie pop/indie rock, blending into the background of other bands around at the time, but because of the response ot Creep, they went full emo, helping to invent the word, from what I can tell, as well as cranking up the metallic rock guitar sound at the same time, and conquering the world with their next two albums, The Bends and OK Computer, which are just must haves of historical importance, in my opinion. Creep still brings tears to my eyes after all theses years, and it just proves everyone trying to look cool is really just wearing a mask to hide their inner dork and insecure person, except for the Paul brothers, who are just narcissistic sociopaths.
You should have Annie react to "I promise" by Radiohead next, it's a beautiful song and Tom actually enjoys performing it, unlike Creep, which the entire band hates performing.
Sam Wessling I agree. A great song. But Johnny Greenwood said that they played it so much that they began to hate it. Personally, my 2 favorites are Lucky and the Reckoner
1:37 Hahaha Thom, I loved your daughter reaction to that xD. 4:43 That is one of the best "run scream" of the song I've heard, if not the best. You should react to more Radiohead, they're my favorite band so I would love it. I recommend so much Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Live from the Basement version, for me that's the best song ever, my favorite.
Love Radiohead. My 12 year old son loves Creep as well. Glitch, is your daughter ready for Firestarter by Prodigy, worth playing, my son couldn’t believe the energy!
First heard this in passing on an “Alternative “ radio station in the early 90s. Then Conan got a late night show on one of 3 channels available. Hearing them do this live on Conan made me a fan of both for life
If ever there was a song written for me it's Creep by Radiohead. This is my favorite song by this band and one of my favorite songs in general. Thanks for not bleeping out the F-word. I'm glad she liked it.

Love the Tom Ellis cover
Hey, Iam from tha Netherlands, this was at PinkPop in Landgraaf. I was at the festival that year. Very good one. Lenney Kravits was there. Look up "Let Love Rule". Good lick with the channel!
Yeah, Pinkpop '96. I was there as well. :-)
Get the oz man crazy train live show her the energy he gives the crowd when he's on stage
Niiiice suggestion, thanks!
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia
The video by Primus Wynona's big brown beaver, she would get a kick out of it lol
I adore this song- the desperation and the guitar like angels weeping- 20 years later my son loved Radiohead too☺️
Man keep it up introing her to good music
Thanks so much!!
please do pink Floyd's- Time - great lyrics, and one of the best guitar solos of all time!
and Linkin Park
Good choice to introduce good music to your daughter. This song is mean a lot to me and this is one of my lifetime favorite song. i listened to this for the first time when i was a teenager untill now for more than 15yrs i'm still listening and sometime sing this song with my guitar when i got my free time.
I forgot how good this performance was. They (esp thom) sound so good
As said below Thom had a crush on a girl at university but never had the courage to ask her out and ended up kind of stalking her around campus trying to get her to notice him, hence he feels like a creep/weirdo.
Ya, I found this and was blown away, loved this version!
I'd ask her what her thoughts are and let her talk about it and what she thought about the lyrics.
I still remember where I was the first time I heard this song. ‘93
Watching that 13 year old girls face as she experienced the song was like a flashback to how it made me feel at that age hearing it. I was around her age when it came out and I heard it first
You should have more subscribers for sure , your much better than most reactors
why does the titke says: reaction of a 13-year-old when he´s NOT letting her speak almost nothing--- gel?
I'm glad you're making these, I enjoy them, and its cool youre bonding with your kids over this music and sharing that with us. My one request, these videos are called 13 year old react or etc. but then you jump in and do 90% of the talking. :) Im glad youre passionate; as someone who worked with high school kids for ten years, please give them space to process and share their response before sharing yours. We know YOU are passionate, it is very clear. :D Its easy to unintentionally drown out their own processing with our enthusiasm. Thanks.
what's the point in having your daughter react when she doesn't.
shes a teenager, teenagers dont react or care lol.
@@Ares14 they budget it.
She is soooooo tough, having some wins though here and there. Thanks for the great comment.
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia She's a regular Simon Cowell.. 😉
The Best live performance for this song , ever!!!!!
Nobody:
Thom Yorke: But im a creep, Im a weird door what the hell am i doing beer ah dont belong here, she riding on the door, shes riding on run run run ren ren.
One of my all time favourite songs, takes me back to Leicester square when it first came out and pubs played it everywhere
Nice hat.
Best. Band. EVER.
Agree, love Pink Floyd!
Fantastic that right there at that moment synapses in her brain were connecting to fuze together this song.. coz there is only ever before hearing Creep and after hearing Creep. Special moment captured.
Pulp -common people (glastonbury or reading festival).
yo mo yes! Some more Brit music please :)
@@bodspafc defo. When the guitar kicks in when its performed live it verges on being
biblical. th-cam.com/video/-XlCFJA3yL4/w-d-xo.html is a good one to watch but to be honest its always good.
This song was from the golden era of grunge music and wasn't designed to make u feel happy or sad it was written about his own perspective of how he viewed himself
You should have lyric videos for them..my kids taught me how they learn best
Since you did this, you should do "Possum Kingdom", by The Toadies and "You're All I Need", by Mötley Crue.
Love the reactions and love the Iceland portrait. Lived there for two years at Keflavik when my dad was in the Air Force from 1982-1984
You should have Annie react to "I promise" by Radiohead next, it's a beautiful song and Tom actually enjoys performing it, unlike Creep, which the entire band hates performing.
This is from Pinkpop in the Netherlands, the oldest festival (1970) we have here. Greetings from Amsterdam.
If you want to hear something different you should check out Postmodern Jukebox's cover of this song with Haley Reinhart.
I'll have to check that out, thanks for the note.
Glitch in the Matrix Multi-Media yes you should def see if she likes Haley Reinhart’s version
One of my all time favorites great reaction thank you guys for what you're doing. 💯🔥🙏
Radiohead actually hates this song. They moved beyond this type of Emo grunge during the 90s.
Still a good song
Sam Wessling I agree. A great song. But Johnny Greenwood said that they played it so much that they began to hate it. Personally, my 2 favorites are Lucky and the Reckoner
They hate this song because it was being asked way too often. Theyre like "Come on guys.. We have other songs too."
The best song they ever did.
"Emo grunge"????
1:37 Hahaha Thom, I loved your daughter reaction to that xD. 4:43 That is one of the best "run scream" of the song I've heard, if not the best. You should react to more Radiohead, they're my favorite band so I would love it. I recommend so much Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Live from the Basement version, for me that's the best song ever, my favorite.
Not a fan of this band, but I really enjoy watching your quality time spent with your girl. Makes me smile. Rock on you two! 🤘🏻
Thanks so much, more to come very soon.
Love Radiohead. My 12 year old son loves Creep as well. Glitch, is your daughter ready for Firestarter by Prodigy, worth playing, my son couldn’t believe the energy!
Oasis -Morning glory
First heard this in passing on an “Alternative “ radio station in the early 90s. Then Conan got a late night show on one of 3 channels available. Hearing them do this live on Conan made me a fan of both for life
I love the clip where Beavis and Butthead do a reaction to this :)
Lol
If ever there was a song written for me it's Creep by Radiohead. This is my favorite song by this band and one of my favorite songs in general. Thanks for not bleeping out the F-word. I'm glad she liked it.
this is your reaction. your daughter is falling asleep during every video. next
She never has a reaction, that I've seen.
Probably because he ruins every song with his long-winded exhaustive thoughts about it before they listen to it
Remember The Hollies(The air that I breathe) Thom Yorke definitely had this song in his head when he wrote creep! Check it out if you don’t already know it!
I cannot wait for her to experience Pink Floyd! If there's a vid of that I missed it. She's got a great dad, lots of great music ahead for her.
I actually did a Pink Floyd song with my son, will be out in a few days. I do plan to do one with her as well, but might be about two weeks or so.
I LOVE IS THIS SONG 🌟
Should check and react The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe 👌🏾
Nice classic song and idea.
Lol yeah
ive cried to this song in a car full sleeping people who didnt know i need help
Can you react to The Smiths - Cemetery Gates
My wife loves the Smiths, I'll work on digging into some more of that style very soon. Definitely like to mix it up. Thanks for watching!
Having seen these guys perform live, it's their natural habitat. They just kill! There are a few full concert videos on here you may want to check out.
I love your site... Give The Kinks “Celluloid Hero’s” A listen!!
One of my fave song of all time!
