A Mexican general leads his troops across the border and captures the Alamo to prove himself to his girlfriend and test his comrades’ loyalty.
1969 American comedy film directed by Jerry Paris and starring Peter Ustinov, Harry Morgan, Jonathan Winters, John Astin, and Larry Hankin. The film was written by Elliott Baker and based on the 1966 novel of the same name by well-known American news anchor James Lehrer.
General Maximilian Rodrigues de Santos is a flamboyant and delusional Mexican general. To impress his girlfriend, Max decides to lead his troops across the border into Texas and recapture the Alamo. Max's plan is simple: he will disguise himself as a tourist and scout out the Alamo, then return with his troops and take control of the fort. The local authorities are quickly alerted to the situation, and they dispatch Police Chief George Sylvester to negotiate with Max. He will stick to his cause to the very end remaining unbowed.
Sir Peter Ustinov was a highly accomplished British actor, writer, and filmmaker. He gained recognition for his versatile talents in film, theater, and television, with notable roles in movies like "Spartacus" (1960) and "Topkapi" (1964). Ustinov was a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actor and also excelled as a playwright and director. His wit, intelligence, and humanitarian efforts, including serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, further contributed to his esteemed legacy in both the entertainment industry and global philanthropy.
Harry Morgan was an American actor and director. One of his most iconic roles was as Colonel Sherman T. Potter on the popular television series "MASH" (1975). He also had a recurring role on "Dragnet" (1951) and later starred in the television series "Dragnet 1967" (1967).
