Hi, can I do a simple podcast using bandlab? Also, do you think it is possible for a person to learn how to play piano / keyboard (who has never played piano / keyboard before) by using bandlab keyboard provided like shown on the video?
I was gonna give up in making music because it is hard when you do not have the equipment but then I saw this video. I did not know that bandlab has these awesome features. Thank you! Now you earned my sub!
I'm not usually into tutorials because they go too fast or don't really explain in detail some functions, but when I tell you that this tutorial has really REALLY blown me away, I mean it. Not only did you make a song of my fave genre, you also taught essentials in such a great way! I was lost tapping random loops and putting together choppy melodies but this...THIS. This is totally gonna make me grow tons. Thank you so much for this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
ha thanks ChronoPrincess, that means a lot! So glad the tutorial was helpful and glad that it's helping you have fun making music in the program! -Dean
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU I HAVE ALLOT OF OTHER DAWS THAT I HAVE PAID FOR THAT ARE NOT AS EASY AS YOU MAKE THIS SEEM TO USE . I HAVE HAD THIS IN MY PC FOR A LONG TIME AND NOT USING IT BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. LOL I AM EXCITED TO GET STARTED WITH THIS THE RIGHT WAY. THANK YOU FOR THIS THOROUGH TUTORIAL .
Uh, Sir If you don't mind, Where do you teach Audio engineering? I've been searching for colleges but I cant find much info :( also, is Audio Engineering a field by itself? or is it like a branch of another field like electric engineering?
Thank you! My biggest dream is to be a song writer, singer and producer, but i'm not good at technology things and my biggest passion is music and making it, I've never been in a situation with my mental health that music haven't made better. Now I can start doing what I love the most, bc I have a free software/website. Thank you for this tutorial!
I love this omg i'm so happy!!! I've been wanting to make music for my lyrics but I don't play any instruments. This is an amazing tutorial and I can't wait to mess around and see what I can do with band lab! Honestly whoever created band lab will forever be in my heart🥺❤️❤️❤️
Bandlab has another DAW called CAKEWALK for windows which is also free. Its 30 years old and is just as capable as protools if not more so in many areas. Cakewalk is experiencing a resurgence in popularity and is being well maintained and updated.
The best bootcamp for me as a beginner on BandLab. I've seen other videos introducing beginners but this is more than an introduction it answered many questions i had about BandLab. Thanks, you are a good teacher!
In other words, its a complete music maker and editor, for free. Great video, bro. It's rare i watch a video that isnt a movie or music for more than 10 minutes. You had me glued to the screen.
Shout out to The Songwriting Studio gang....the absolute BEST tutorial I've come across on TH-cam for Bandlab. The commentary, musical skills, video editing, along with the actual ease of creating as demonstrated, and that voice...! I'm a SUB now....thanks
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. It’s got the simplicity of GarageBand but with extra features and of course it’s available for PC. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
Thank you!!! I'm a singer/writer but could never record my own work, always went to a studio to have someone else engineer. I've been absolutely terrified to do it myself, it looks way too intimidating. However, I'm definitely going to give this a try 😊
I don't know even the M of music, so instead of investing on a real instrument, I thought of using online tools. After watching this video I'm able to understand how to create one. Thanks, it was very informative.
This is great I’ve always been a songwriting but always had so many instrumental ideas I had a hard time translating to a song and BandLab made it 10x easier for me
Thank you so much for this tutorial I couldn't do anything on this app Like literally, I was about to delete this software but after this tutorial I can see how useful it is TQ sososoo much
Just watched this after getting bandlab and trying to help my daughter with her gcse composition. This is an absolute masterclass in explanation of the important functions clearly and with the beginner firmly in mind. Many thanks. I'll be watching your other videos.
I am speechless🤐... Amazing tutorial. I can't thank you enough the way you have explained so much in such a short time. Please do make more similar videos.
Hey Dean, this is cool. I have a lot of people asking whether they should sell their Windows laptop and buy a Mac or not, just because of Garageband. This can be a good alternative. Zero cost. Also, it would be nice if you can do a video of your favourite paid plugins for the more advance Garageband users to upgrade.
Love that Leif, so glad it was helpful! As for plugins, I don't know that I'll do a video on that anytime soon but my 1st suggestion would be to learn to use the stock plugins well as they are really powerful and what I use to do the majority of my mixes! Beyond that, I do have a video on using Melodyne (pitch correction software) in GarageBand and in seasons past I have used Slate Digitals plugins (a monthly subscription) as they have some very nice compressors in particular. Hope that helps! -Dean
Thank you. I have watched dozens of these explainer videos. This was by far the best. You spoke clearly and slowly and always drew the viewer's attention to where your mouse was pointing and clicking. The information was presented in a very logical way. You sold me on this product. Congratulations.
Yes !! This is great and very helpful ... thank you Dean! I know someone else who is going to really benefit from this also ... You explain things so well !
Thank you for making this, I really wanted to learn to make songs to add some BANGERS to some games, I already know how to make games but all I needed to keep making the game is the music. Now my game will have some BANGERS when it launches
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. I've been a musician my entire life, but never really learned Midi myself. Looking forward to learning more of these features, especially the midi. PS. You have a sweet voice. Love it :)
Just have to say I loved the tutorial. I often got confused from all the ones I watched so far, but yours was different it was perfectly explained and never once felt like it was rushed.

What an excellent easy to follow and inspiring demo. The workspace looks a lot like GarageBand and Logic but is so much more intuitive. And the mastering tools alone make Bandlab a great choice. Question: would you publish just what you have here, see the feedback you get with a few bars or flesh out a longer song arrangement first?

Best instructional video I found on You Tube! I know nothing about daw recording and you went slow and methodically through it. Excellent teacher! Two questions I can't find. How do you save an original file without destroying or altering it after making a new one in bandlab? I have an older keyboard with a unique sound preset. If I create a midi file can I import it and use it instead of a virtual instrument and will it create audio when played back in bandlab?
Hey joewger! You can hit save in the top right of the screen (I show it at minute 22:55 in this video if you want a visual) and then it saves the project file so that you can exit the project but jump back into it anytime. Hope that helps! -Dean
Great job Brother! Appreciate you putting this together and sharing. Crazy that BandLab is free!! Seems very powerful. Great GB alternative for sure....(dare I say even better?🤷♂️) Hmmm 🤔
Glad it was helpful! As for it being better (to give away a future video) I wouldn't say it's better but I would say it is on a very similar level. I would recommend Mac users sticking with GB unless they want that digital collaboration aspect and those who don't have access to GB should definitely check out BandLab! -Dean
Thanks for this tutorial. You really described everything I needed to know perfectly. Other videos were not as clear and detailed as this one. I literally feel like I learn how to use the whole program. Thanks again.
