    Is this the best GTI in the lineup? What do you think?

    Driving from Glossop to Kings Lynn in my Polo GTI I got 57.2mpg. I disagree with my partner that I was well above the speed limit on any motorway parts. I took a picture of the dash because it wasn't what I expected. Yes the car shifts and will pass anything on the road. Great brakes too.

    I'm a musician but don't have to carry around as much gear as you. Enjoyed your review. I've just bought a new Polo GTi and I agree with you entirely. I was tempted by the Brescia alloys, they do look gorgeous but went with the standard 'Milton Keynes' alloys, why do they call them that! They're not that bad. I went with sunroof and winter pack on my car.
    The car is very refined and comfortable on the standard wheels with Michelin tyres. It's the perfect transport for me and believe it or not I got 56mpg on a gig from Derby to Cheltenham on mainly motorway roads the other day.

      I wish I didn’t have to carry as much equipment! Yeah the alloy names are strange - but glad to hear you’re loving it. Such a great little car.

    The usual superb commentary. I don't like Polo's, I don't like GTI's, yet somehow your video has made me like this one. Great sound, great looks, great video.

    this is a great review, as a musician and touring tech i did wonder about load capacity but this is great, good reason to downsize and just stick with my Kemper rig. and dicth the head and cabs

    In stock form the Fiesta ST is the better, sportier, more track focussed and engaging B segment hothatch...
    You can however pimp the Polo a bit with H&R lowering springs, 5mm/12mm spacers front & rear, and a BMS JB4 Piggyback.. The Fiesta ST probable still delivers more giggles.... :/
    BUT
    I bought one due to the potential... It is designed and developed by the guy who fine tuned the GTI Clubsport.
    The engine is an EA888 Gen3”B” not quite the same as the Golf GTI & Golf R, But same family... It was a bit of a risk since no one had cracked the ECU and tried to tune damn thing... And there were a lot of naysayers, thinking that du to its “buddack cycle and high compression ratio” it was an economical engine with no tuning potential...
    Well I’m glad to se that i was right! Early numbers are in after the Bosh MG1 ECU finally was cracked... 275 ps & 430 Nm on the stock IS20 turbo with intake and intercooler mod. If you go bonkers and mount a plug and play IS38 from the Golf R you are looking at 320 PS
    In stock form it still has a lot to offer, to be honest the fuel economy is also impressive out of town while having that much power on tap, but the potential is still what made me buy it over Renault, Ford, Peugeot, Toyota & Opel....

      glad to hear that. Mine coming around March this year.
      Looking forward to change intake and exhaust as soon as possible, and after warranty(4years) changing the ECU

    I’m torn between this and a fiesta st,in the end it’s all about the drive for me so I think the fiesta will be more fun to drive.I will try them both first obviously also I want a manual not dsg I’ve tried dsg in Mercs and Audi’s and it’s just another aid to take away involvement.

    I’m only getting max out of mine eco mode round the doors 23mpg… not hammering it at all. Any ideas on why my mpg could be so low?

      Most gigs is a different car, the client never knows what’s going on. Especially in Caterhams! :) Hope you enjoy the new car purchase!

    it is best ... but only if you got it in LHD because they offered manual transmision. :D LHD polos were build in spain and RHD in south africa. Since LHD production moved to SA they removed manual transmision option. They are a bit rare even in rest of europe. :)

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep that manual would be lovely in RHD. The DSG is good, but you definitely feel slightly disconnected at times.

      Polo GTI aw1 have 2.0 tsi ea888 generation 3b. , Its the AUDI engine and the same golf gti mk 7.5 but detuned .

    • @petrrieger2680
      @petrrieger2680 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mirkogti6641 except golf have only gen 3 not 3b. there are slight changes mostly for consumption reasons. but in core they are same :)

    • @mirkogti6641
      @mirkogti6641 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@petrrieger2680 are you sure ? I have read 3b on internet forum . Where you read is only gen 3 and dont 3b ? .

    • @petrrieger2680
      @petrrieger2680 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mirkogti6641 yea :-) gen 3b is not meant as replacement for gen 3. Golf ea888 use direct injection only and polos ea888 use combination of direct and non direct injection. Also polo use new combustion cycle while there is no need for full power. Gen 3b use different engine cover. :-D As I said 3b is more ecological but most changes are small enough to call them as same engine. :-) polo gti engine is more like engine from tiguan 136kw (might not be accurate number). In the end it is hell of a car for that money. :-D

    Can you get a digi dash in the standard 2019 GTI or does it have to be the GTI+ ?
