    Interesting comments due to affording a car like this that i should have included in the video for peace of mind, On the finance calculator Vw quote;
    48 months at £282.30
    Customer deposit at £2,351.98
    Deposit contribution of £1000
    Final payment of £9,758
    Make your own mind up, is this something a 18-22 year old can afford? Let me know below!

      @@A22Alex There are too many factors that affect insurance premium; where you live, your occupation, the safety features available, how often are they stolen.. and the list goes on so it will differ greatly per person. Currently am 22 and getting close to 5 years of driving with 0 accidents + no speeding offences and I can easily afford insurance on a "high performance" vehicle. here are some personal example fully comp insurance quotes i've had on stock cars from playing around on gocompare last month: Fiesta ST180 - £600, Toyota GT86 - £900, VW Scirocco R - £700, Honda Civic Type R FK2 - £670. Drive safe and keep your records clean and you'll literally watch your insurance premium drop year by year.

    The main reason you would get the Plus model is the full LED headlights which you missed out, they are around 800 alone, but Halogens on the base GTI are unforgivable, especially since the 2014-17 model had LED as standard on GTI.

    Nice review, thanks mate. VW owe you because that's at least one Polo you've sold 😅 Needed a little runaround and couldn't think what to get, then I see this on YT recommendations. Perfect! Thought about the Suzuki Swift or Toyota Corolla HB. The Swift is too small for me and the Toyota is 10 seconds to 62mph. I even considered a Honda Type R (would have removed all the embarrassing paraphernalia after buying it of course), but that vehicle really was just too large for my needs. But apparently, due to demand VW are temporarily stopping all new orders on the Polo because of demand! Incredible.

    When I saw one of these on the streets when they first showed up, my immediate thought was: Damn, that looks like a spiritual MK2 GTI successor... that can't be a Golf, can it?
    And I was right. The MK8 Golf proved to be the disaster that I anticipated. The Polo was a happy surprise for a change.
    If I like the interior and handling, this might be the first VW since the MK4 Golf that I could actually see myself driving. I thought about the MK6 for a while, but my custom VR5-swapped MK4 with upgraded interior, engine tune, suspension, brakes, intake and electronics/entertainment still feels just as good, if not better than any MK6.
    For some reason, that Polo looks very appealing though. Catches my eye more and more often, especially with some good custom wheels.

    I just turned 20 and own a Seat ibiza cupra 1.4l 2013 I am with admiral and pay 1500 a month. The car is a rocket and is cheap to insure, the best way to get cheap insurance is go on compare the market and get multiple quotes different days on the same car. I had many different quotes ranging from 3000-1500 and just save the reference number for each cheap quote you get. The quotes fluctuate because the more you look the more the price goes up. Also try it in the morning on different wifi connections from the one you have been using to get quotes from comparthemarket and clear all cookies. If your going for an ibiza cupra 1.4l get 2013+ with CTHE engine to avoid as many problems as possible

    It would be very difficult for a young driver to afford a brand new Polo GTI, even on finance. However, I have a 2017 Polo GTI 6C, which is just as fast and good looking as the 2019 one, and I'm on PCP which costs around £200 per month with a £2K deposit. That's more than affordable for me.

But I will recommend it to others. It's really is nippy. Affordable (ish) too.

    Got one with manual. Only car I ever ordered from new. Well ... LHD market got manual transmision for half of year while LHD polos was assembled in Spain befor it moved to SA (from 11/2017 to +/- 6/2018). Ordered in september I believe and than waited for 20 weeks *SPOLER* was worth it. :D a lot of fun to drive, a lot of power for engine from tiguan and after year and almost 25 000km my consumption is around 8L to 100km (lowest was 5,6 highest around 9,7). I ordered a lot of additional equipment. Honestly some of them is useless or just disappointment, at least to me. Navigation is mostly useless and app-connect with waze do much better job, heated seats in winter get hot after 6-8km. Insurance is absolute overkill I paid around 5% of whole car price just this year in insurance. I only miss 4x4 since I switched from 3.0TDI Quattro :)

    Im a believer that you should build up to this kind of performance, with lesser powered vehicles, until you know what you're doing. As a kid i would have loved this of course but we had to make do with fiestas and escorts etc. This kind of performance was the equivalent of a supercar, back in the sixties and seventies. Yes they have better brakes and safety features now but i still think a gti is too much for a new driver.
    Theres also the fun of getting all you can out of a slower car. If you drove this at full speed, youd get the jail. Maybe modern teens are more sensible than i was....

      £247 per month only for the finance. Add another £140-£180 per month for insurance. Then add 28mpg average. Then decent tyres at £89-100 each. Easily £500 plus per month. How many 18-22 year old can afford this for a 2015 car?? My son is 29 and has a 2011 Renault Clio 1.2. It has 75bhp and costs £1400 to insure for the year limited to 3000 miles per annum. A Polo GTi would be easily twice that!! Some folk have no clue about real life.

    My missus has got this Polo Gti. The lease is super cheap, £240 a month including tyres and servicing.
    We're in our 40's so it is super cheap to insure. I don't think insurance is the biggest problem a young driver would have with the car though.
    I borrow it from time to time :D and pop it into Sports mode. It is very powerful, quite light, 200BHP and buckets of torque. I've scared myself a few times! It gets squirrely under hard acceleration.
    If I'd had this 20 years ago, there's a good chance I would have put it in a hedge. As a young person I thought I was the best driver in the world. With age I've realised that I am an average driver at best (like almost all of us!). I'm certainly a better driver than I was in my 20's.
    I don't think this is a good car for a young person, they could well kill themselves in it :)

    For some reason all cars have got bigger, and this car maybe a smaller version of the new golf but the original mk1 golf is actually smaller than this Polo by around 200mm.

    I would love to own this as I'm coming up to finishing my first year of driving in march. I don't see how i could afford this though :/ I've been thinking of leasing a car until my NCD is built up so i can in a few years finally get my own car which i actually want rather than what I'm stuck with at the moment. My only issue is being able to mod the car i couldn't live on that ride height. LMAO

      @@drewstreet4178 I'd rather pay a bit more than not have the car at all though. Obviously saving is a lot better but i think as long as I'm sensible and don't get myself into a deal I cant afford i should be alright. Also a lot of dealerships include insurance in the money you pay for a lease on the car meaning it should work out a little cheaper on the insurance side.

      @@snaimz3479 honestly from owning one for a year now its great but way too much for a *young * driver in all aspects. Stay with a small engine for as long as you can get atleast 5 years no claims then look at something abit more expensive. It doesnt matter if you drive a pos for 3 years. After that you can get pretty much what you want. I have 4 years ncb and its 760 a year crazy cheap but its cause i dont have any points or convictions or crashes on the record. Keep to thus and youll be set

    I agree with all the comments saying young people can’t afford this but I also think it’s terrible advice to be telling anyone (especially young people) to finance a car.
    I’d far sooner own a second hand car than finance a new one, no question.
    A far better car for a younger petrolhead would be a lupo GTI, 3series or even a diesel Audi. You just don’t need 200+ HP in your first or second car.
    I think for young drivers the regular polo is plenty!

  • @edd95gti85
    @edd95gti85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can afford the extra i would go to Hyundai i30 n i would recomend that car to anyone its nuts i coulnt justify the extra 130 a month to the polo but it you can afford 380 a month for a hot hatch go an test drive that beast

    Good video about the car and it’s performance but if you’re going to aim a video at young drivers then please don’t suggest a car with a 2.0L turbo charged engine. The price of this car is far too high for any young driver too afford unless they’ve had a lottery win and the insurance is unbelievably high as well.
