i made a diy cnc, and what i loved in this video is the ending, where you showed realistic looking results, unlike other videos that dont show raw results, but 1000th try with sanded result
Thanks a lot for the informative video. I thought Easel only has a paid version. After the video, I start using Easel. Big thanks. You have a good related channel
Thanks, good tutorial, not tried Easel before. I measured the RPM of my stock 3018 with a tachometer and it only goes to 7L RPM, a few others have done this also so i think that's probably the real max speed for the stock motor.
I missed this first time, I thought Easel would only do roughing & detail with a Vee bit & end mill. I never realized you could do it with 2 different end mills... Practice this tomorrow!! Thank you
Good video. Hint with Easel, their tech support tell me, only need internet for logging in & saving document,it "should" work on for design & carve independent of internet. Try it !!
As I see in the video, your spindle rotates counterclockwise. This means that the drill will not cut, but will slide and heat up. For a feather bit, this is not so important if the sharpening is symmetrical. But screw drills must enter the material according to their sharpening - clockwise. I hope in the 2 years that have passed since the publication of this video, you have already figured out why your drills are breaking at the default speed and have changed the rotation of your spindle in the opposite direction.
Do I need to install a driver for the machine to work? I just got the machine and am having a heck of a time trying to make it work. I have downloaded drivers, but I can't seem to open them. I am using a MacBook does this make a difference? how do I figure the port? Waiting for the good news.
Hi, I just bought this same cnc machine but never started any projects. I'm stuck on the setup of it. All the videos I seen on TH-cam don't explain things clear enough for me. I'm disabled and I love watching and listening to you. Do you have a full start to finish setup from the machine to a laptop vidoe or videos explain how to. 🤔 I appreciate it and thank you in advance
Hi dear, thanks for the video. I have same machine. I used easal , i followed followed your instructions about the settings but I got miss maching in caraving..what I can I do ???
I bought a 318 Pro, but I'm new at it. I watched your video which I consider very informative and helpful, so I would like to know if you can recommend a good software that I can get to run my 318 pro and also tell what is the software you are using in this video. Thank you.
I am using easel by inventables in the video, I like the programme and you can use the paid or the free version. I am using the free version in the video. Happy carving
hi Chris , Darryl here , I just got my 3020 pro max cnc , loading software is hell. how did you switch to easel from candle or I'm missing some thing . plz help .
I just bought the s3810 pro. Thank you for the video. I’ll download easel. I just want to drill 6mm deep holes with a 3 mm (1/8”) bit. Is the drill powerful enough to do that in oak? Would like to make a cribbage board. And can I upgrade the drill if necessary? Thx!
I’m new at this stuff but if you can program a pecking function while it’s drilling and press pause on the machine to blow out any sawdust I would think it would work
I have an issue with the machine beginning to carve, then it stops and just spins. Need your assistance with setting it up. I followed your instructions to the T, and it still doesn't work.
Can anyone give me some guidance? Everytime I run the Easel program it drills a hole through the material. I have changed materials and thickness. It doesn’t seem to matter.. it just drill straight through and doesn’t cut the design. Thank you
Perhaps the settings are wrong for your type of machine? Have you used the test controls to see how your machine behaves? Otherwise your machine needs “jogging” and resetting
Thanks for a very interesting video! The 3018 is in transport... Got an MF-70 a few years ago, made toast of the spindle motor and finally got a new motor. That 100 Watt motor keeps heating up even running without load. Poor cooling design I would say. What's Your opinion about the duty cycle, working versus idling for this machine?
I ran the machine on a constant cycle for some signs i was making, a repeat cut using 2 different carving bits. the total carve time was 30 mins and I did it back to back 12 times. I was very impressed with its performance. hope that helps?
Hello! Can you help me please? Its a great video, but you didn't show the shape position. I don't understand. I saw many tutorials already, but my machine is still go to the wrong place. Like vica-versa, not like on the screen. Why? Thanks.
Hi, when you jog your machine and go through the movement checks before you carve, is the machine behaving properly? It sounds like the machine has a crossed wire if it is carving a mirror image?
@@christaylorwoodworking Thank for reply. I found the solution: type "$$", look at $3. I saw this: $3=0 (dir port invert mask:00000000) And change the value "$3=2 Now is perfectly work.
Easel does not appear top be free. There is a trail signup then some unknown cost after some unknown trail period. When a company does not list the cost up front, it's a good sign to move on.
Ah ok, where are you located? I am in the Uk, I had to sign up but I pay nothing. Unless you have to put your payment details in you won’t be charged. I think the full subscription for the year is about $150 if you did sign up.
Thank you your calm English manner makes you a clear and effective instructor.
Thanks Bill, I must make some more content

Ur voice is waaay too soothing I couldn't stay awake 🥱
Cant tell if that's a compliment or not... But I will take it... Thanks for watching!
Very well produced. Thank you. I've just assembled my 3020-PRO MAX so this should get me started.
Thanks a lot for the informative video. I thought Easel only has a paid version. After the video, I start using Easel. Big thanks. You have a good related channel

Thank You. It seems homing is very simple.
It is! Happy carving
Good basic explanation of easel, I build my own CNC machine from scratch and use easel
Yeah I am happy with it, even basic features. Thanks for your feedback!
Any videos of you building your own machine
@@gailjohnson3544 look for my channel conkcat you can see some videos on there.

I have heard this but I am always so nervous to try it... 🙃 I will give it a go, thanks for the feedback.
really helpful!!! thank you so much 😸✨
Glad it was helpful!
What happen when we use straight bit that comes with hand router is there option for this bit?
Did you consider doing a follow up video ? I would be curios what lessons you learned to make better quality cuts. :)
Good tips
Thank you 😊
Thanks for share 😍
Thanks for watching
With those 20 degree bits, what would you recommend for plunge depth in pine wood? I’ve had success with.4 mm but at .7 I was skipping steps

Hi Chris, nice informative video, thank you. Have you any advice on sourcing your material, please?
Can you sand them out then? It looks brilliant - would love it but it'd be a treat I have to stop buying tools
I almost fall sleep..put energy in your video and you need more light in your shop ✨️ you r video is exellent 👍
I know it's stupid but...
Can you try hand made sharpen v bit using nail will it engrave at some level 😅

Hi Gail, I will do an updated video soon explaining the whole process, I have been super busy on alternate projects, sorry for my late reply
Hi dear, thanks for the video. I have same machine. I used easal , i followed followed your instructions about the settings but I got miss maching in caraving..what I can I do ???
Perhaps you are running the speed too fast or the settings are reversed? Have you had any more luck?
Can it make rubber stamp?
Is your rotation going the correct way? @ 8:56 it looks like your going counter clockwise?
Good point. That would definitely give him a ragged cut!!
It is turning clockwise upon review, thank you for the heads up!

Hello Sir, The Easel Software is Compatible or can use to any brand of Cnc laser machine?
Can you provide your g code of this machine so that I can test my similar machine?
Chris, are you using the xcontroller from inventables?
Where can I get the laser motor to buy?

Which windows version is installed in your laptop? And.. can yo tell me your laptop info?
Hi Chris, thank for your video. I see that the Easel is very simple to use. Where can I download it and is it still free.
How large of a sign can I cut
The 3018 pro has a working cut area of 300mm by 180mm
I have an issue with the machine beginning to carve, then it stops and just spins. Need your assistance with setting it up. I followed your instructions to the T, and it still doesn't work.
I have had that issue, it was an interruption in power or internet in my case… I hope you managed to resolve it?

i get the message ; unknown device. can you help me?
What is the maximum depth it can carve? can it level a surface in an angle?
Whatever the travel on your spindle will be the maximum depth of cut, there are people using CNC to level wood.
When I try to engrave, the result is smaller than the actual size of the design. what did I do wrong?
Perhaps some settings are incorrect for your machine in the software?
Where can I get the program
www.inventables.com/technologies/easel
Hi Chris... I've been trying to purchase a 3018 cnc machine but have been unsuccessful so far..any link on a safe site to purchase from?
I purchased mine secondhand but i recommend joining a facebook page for the machine and asking there.
Use VCARVE pro...you'll never get wrong with it.
Not tried it but i will give it a go, thanks for the heads up.
Is easel still free? I can only find the pro version. Sub'd and liked :)
Thank you 🙏 yes there is still a free version, you have to sign up but there is no cost
For some reason my 3018 is carving my letters in reverse any ideas
Sounds like your settings are reversed, you must check the rest operation before carving, using the directional arrows on your keyboard.

No, Easel is free, 3 month free trial, after only pay for Pro if you need to use any Pro specific functions which are clearly identified.
@@christaylorwoodworking Easel Pro is now $238/yr. You can still use the free version.
👍👍
if I send you a design you will be able to make it out of wood ?
Lets hope you can broaden your scope.
Thanks, very busy with builds outside the workshop at the moment. Hopefully get some new content up soon!
whats the program used in the video called?
Easel by inventables
I can make to in grave
Do you have an email address, please?
