Steve James died at age 41 just a few years after this screen appearance. I'm always struck by how well this film was cast. Everyone seems exactly right for the role they played.
Weekend at Bernie's 2 was his last film, and the FIRST film I saw him in. He was clearly in bad health, noticeably smaller and more gaunt - had no idea he was dying on camera.
James had a very pleasant screen appearance. He always had some nice jokes in his pocket and looked like a very nice guy to work with. RIP, Steve.

He died in 1993.
He was great in Delta Force.

I loved how Masters had connections all over the city
The two blues tracks by Junior Wells in each of the scenes (in the background) was a really slick and fitting choice for music.
Lawdy, Lawdy and Good Mornin', Little School Girl. The music is by far the best thing about this movie as far as I'm concerned.
Best movie ever made.!😁
Steve James was acting good. I got réal acror talent beyond his martial art skills
I never knew Steve James was a Baseball Fury! That's far out.
Sgt. Elias In Platoon
Wow I had no idea Steve James died so young - pancreatic cancer at 41!
Shame that you don’t have the fight scene between the two!!!!
He looks fit and healthy so how did pancreatic cancer succumb him in 1993 30 years ago?
Silent killer, we all have to go sometime.
gangster thinks engineering, creativity and hard work is magic
Imagine IF THEIR HAVE BLADE BEFORE Wesley Snipes BLADE MOVIE
He was Logan Blade street hunter 😀
Steve would have been more convincing in that role than Snipes. He had a real martial arts background too.
The "Woman's" 308 explained 👌 everything. It's beautifully cool, but a little too feminine for my vision of "Masters." Love ❤️ it.
Hey Funky Man!
Oh yeah. I remember that from Friedkin's audio commentary.
Great actor. Badly missed. RIP.
