ACA Hurricane 130 Tornado Siren Test Milwaukee, WI 3/11/09

  • Here's the first of my two videos of the recently discovered ACA Hurricane 130 in Milwaukee, WI. These are rare sirens, which were never produced in high numbers, so finding an active one is really something special. Milwaukee County EM saw fit to activate both alert and attack modes for this test. This was Milwaukee's first test of 2009.
    Special thanks to Archon2561 for finding this rare siren and allowing me to tag along and make my own recordings with him.

    Dear RamFett,
    this is a nice capture of a beautiful siren! I had a theory however, and decided to test it, and I was right. Said theory was this:
    When Martha (Martha Speaks) is asked by the vet to say "ahh" in the episode "Martha Sings", it occurred to me that her singing that one note and this capture of the ACA Hurricane 130 sound almost exactly the same! Once I tested my theory, I was right! I hope that this is entertaining to say the least, and I hope you make more awesome videos!

    I don't know if it will go back up in Hamilton County, but it might go somewhere else. The latest I know about it is that its sitting in front of his shop. You can see it on Street View on Google Maps.

    @lilaj34siren The thunderbolt's measured sound output is 125 db at 100 feet for the dual tone version. The dual tone Hurricane's measured sound output at 100 feet is 130 db. In case you are wondering, that is almost 4 times the sound pressure as the T-bolt, and that makes sense. This siren has a chopper with 2 intakes, one on each side, and a 30 hp blower VS the Thunderbolt's 1 intake and 7.5hp blower.

  • @Incurso91
    @Incurso91 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @form109 They did it to keep the sound from blasting into local neighborhoods. I understand that they want to keep people from losing their hearing, but the whole point of a siren is to produce a loud warning sound to notify residents to take cover.

      I've heard rumors that when the blower dies, they'll be replacing it with a Thunderbolt blower

      @@Mrbushbtalls837 130 db at 30 metres equals 160 db at 1 metre cause there is a sound decrease about 30 db happening at 30 metres

    These things are actually 3 times louder than a thunderbolt I think.

    There's evidence to the contrary regarding ACA ripping off the thunderbolt. They saw the shortfalls of such a complicated design, hence the low production and rarity of the Hurricane.

    @TitanLover8011 Just the name ACA gave this particular model. It's used for tornadoes.

    This is the first time I have ever seen a Hurricane whose rotator worked... kind of cool to see it rotating for once. The fast wind up is painful though, very painful!
