@@nartali9683 manor lords is too niche and small scale to ever compete with the scale of total war. a 5000 unit battle in medieval ii still is way more epic and interesting than this skirmish, and will continue to be. you will see no total war youtubers switching to manor lords lol, and a very negligible part of the community. after the honey moon is over modded total war historical titles have way more to them than controlling a small village with a militia.
That one on one combat at 5:36 was mind blowing! The detail, realism and fidelity of that single combat made this game pop in such a cinematic way. Remarkable!

As a reenactor doing mostly, brink of 14/15ct I must say this is gorgeous! The lack of blood effects and cavalry charges makes it look quite like this kind of hobby :D
I love the fact that the different soldiers in a unit aren't completely uniform. They have different helmets, shields, even different amount of armour. I have the biggest respect for the developer, he really did his homework when it comes to weapons and armour from that time (which I guess is around the 13th century). And despite the huge visual differences, you can easily tell what type of unit it is at a glance, that takes some skill.
I expect multiple awards for the exceptional and immense dedication by this legend of a developer. His name shall be etched in the annals of gaming history. Very very well done! Massive victory for gamers this time.
Awesome now only we need more unit formation's, Cavalry and archers with a high fire arch mode!. and ofcourse make our own ammo. And now we have night battles it would be a nice feature to have some soldiers hold torches at night.
Maybe I am a bit selfish, but we have to pressure Slavic Magic to develop the battle system even more or to begine a new project to challenge TotalWar. I am sure that he can create and lead a team to do that.
Lots of friendly fire from those bowmen shooting into their own ranks as the enemy troops close in and the firing arc becomes too shallow to avoid hitting their own. I wonder whether the game is smart enough to actually count those losses to friendly fire.
i would take total war looking like this but smaller battles and happily pay 70 dollars, why cant they just make it, and they make their games more and more arcady
Can’t wait until the ai is updated and the enemy acts like an army rather than units on the same side. There is some strategy but they mainly just rush forward or hide in trees to flank. Excited for the evolution of enemy ai
I can’t wait for this game. But my question is this. Do we only fight bandits, or are the other regions controlled by AI lords whom you would trade, form alliances, wage war, conquer them ect. Or are these enemy factions just random events.
So currently you have bandits on the map, and then when you make a claim or contest a claim of the enemy baron then he sends an army. Which will often have Retinue and mercs. I believe the plan will be to eventually have the AI factions build up towns but as it stands currently you only trade with the off the map King or noble.
its an early access, at the moment there are no horses, its not a battle game, its a city build simulator, the battles are just a "side quest" time by time
Great video, well put together with good soundtrack, You presented the battles really well with great atmosphere. However I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed if they buy this game just for the battles and/or because they are pissed at CA. I see so many "stick it to the man(CA)" comments on these sorts of videos, on the steam discussion page and even sometimes on the Manorlords subreddit. I like a wide range of games and have played lots of TW, Stellaris, RPG, FPS MMO and builder games over the years. I will be buying Manorlords but I know that the game as it currently stands is 90% build 1450 Franconian villages in beautiful scenery with some depth to the builder aspects and 10% small scale footmen battles and its in EA so there will be bugs and stuff not implemented yet. I have been following the game for a while, done a bit of research, watched probably too many creator videos :) in the last few weeks. I know what I will be buying. There appear to be many folks who have only just heard about the game especially in the last two weeks with all the creator content who have not done much research apart from what their favourite creator is telling them. All the folks who think this is a replacement to scratch their TW ME3 itch or more generally TW games in general given CA's missteps are going to be disappointed and I hope they do not end up giving the developer and publisher endless grief about it because it was not what they thought it was even though the dev and publisher have been very clear for ages what sort of game this is. Anyway, we will have to see how it all pans out :)
On next version by a patch I want to see more troops at more than 1-2 formed lines each unit. General more troops handicap on battles and more Rome 2-Attila total war gore cinematic kill moves and matched combat animations. Also like mount and blade and the first that brought this for a first time, rise and fall civs at war game I want to have the full control of any soldier or lord , hero to fight with my own styles and modded like Rome 2 or Attila animations on kills /death and matched combat! PS: this game has the most epic sound ambient battles atmopshere I ever seen , and the most realistic from humans to military instruments
City builder made by a one guy or a small team has better battles than the game made by huge studio which main focus are the battles. Bravo Slavic magic!

Honestly, the comparison is weird since if you don't like city builders, you're not gonna like this game. It's like being told to play an rpg that has good puzzles if you like puzzle games. Yeah, these are pretty good, but there's a whole genre of game I have to go through that I'm not interested in just to get to the part that I like
i dont agree, battles in this game are awesome, so is the citybuilding part. this video is just showcasing the warfare side of the game, nothing wrong with it. manor lord is currently the game with the most realistic battles out there, both mechanics-wise and graphics-wise
@@gstellar96 well that depends what type of total war fan you are, the fact that units come from your population and drafting them impacts your economy makes it a deeper strategy game than any modern total war, and thats with out mentioning how realistic the units clash looks like, many people like me are going to be lost by CA. my CA is going to do only fantacy from now on, they are going to fear to compeat with on man studio
I hope he will expand upon this game like Kingdome come Deliverance does, have it smaller scaled now about manor lords. Then in a later installment have it be about kings and larger battles with knights on horses and sieges. Expand and improve the mechanics. Job well done by one developer, he deserves my money.
Hooded Horse is just the publisher. And helped with paying for some freelance artists to finish up the games visuals and sounds faster. But it is still a one developers show.

Cavalry hasn’t been added yet and these battles are still expressive to look at without them.
They should make a documentary about this guy, how in the hell he all managed to pull this off.
