This album will be my introduction to Trivium. I discovered it through this channel and will likely buy it with my next pay. The best thing I can say about the drums is that they serve the songs. They fit into the music such that they aren't pulling you out of the experience, but you can narrow in on the performance and enjoy it over the other elements. Great stuff. :)
Alex Bent Been a fan of a Trivium for quite some time. Since Travis I can honestly say you seem to be the missing ingredient in an almost amazing recipe, you complete the tastiness and shoot it out of the stratosphere! Been a musician for 25 years and I haven’t gone “wow” at drumming in a while. Thanks to you and the boys. Good luck on tour and continue to smash it!

IMO I think Alex as a drummer seems to be the step Trivium needed after Travis Smith. Don't get me wrong, both Nick and Mat were great drummers but they never had their own groove or flavour, they just accented the guitar in every song. With Travis and Alex they let the guitars do their own thing while adding a separate layer/beat giving the song groove. Loving the new songs, fingers crossed the rest of the album follows suit.
Michael Duval i agree completely.. they've missed that since Travis.. Alex has really brought that feeling back.. actually writing drum parts to a song instead of just playing a drum beat behind it.
dude, I forget the name of the guy they got to produce this album, but the mix is PHENOMENAL. The outro in this song kinda shows this. Love how crisp and clean everything sounds and how no one instrument dominates and you can hear things like Paolo's groove with Alex playing around it

Maybe another thing that makes people go away from that album is that he was made to be way more simpler in terms of technicality, for exemple in the title track. It is epic but in a more concise and song-like approach, just like half of the album itself. However that same simplicity weren't expected for a Trivium album. At first weren't what I expected, but it grew within each listen I'd give.
The counterpoint between vocals and guitar in the chorus and guitar and bass at the end add a whole level of sophistication that's a step up for the band and uncommon in general.
