“Wow that’s good acting” She actually ‘sold it’ so hard that she got knocked unconscious when her head hit the ground. She was not acting at that point lol She came-to on the sideline and rejoined exactly when she needed to. .025, babyyyyy!
I love that I immediately knew which show was in the thumbnail within seconds lmao. It's such an iconic one, and Sandi Rennick's pit writing never gets old to me.
My favorite story from this show was that the drum major death was added late in the season. The night before the corps was going to learn of the new ending, the head brass arranger goes up to the head drum major and says "Have fun conducting the closer for the last time" and walks away right before they were about to perform.
For Adam....the story of Spartacus has it's roots in ancient Roman legend...a slave who started a rebellion and who paid the price for it. Aram Khachaturian created a ballet out of the story, which provided the music for Regiment's 1981 and 82 versions (08 only used some of the Khachaturian....much of the music is from other sources). In 1981, the program was deemed so complex, Regiment handed out librettos at shows! After Spartacus dies in this show, one of the drum majors yells out "I am Spartacus!" This is a reference to the 1960 film (Kirk Douglas as Spartacus). There's a scene late in the film where the Roman catch up to Spartacus' army of slaves and states that if they turn him over, the rest will go unpunished. Douglas, seeing that his cause is not hopeless and trying to spare his followers pain, stands and declares "I am Spartacus." However, his followers, not wishing to see their leader executed -- ALSO yell out "I am Spartacus." Thus, the DM says it...the color guard repeats it...and then the CROWD joins in! Probably the greatest bit of audience participation in drum corps. Given that this show won the championship by .025 over Blue Devils -- the closest margin in DCI history -- it could be argued that this added general effect points that pushed them over the top. BD's GE score was the same from semis to finals, but Regiment's shot up 0.25 between those 12 show runs. The crowd reaction when BD was announced in 2nd...even on video, I have never heard it that loud.
There are three drum majors actually. Every corps has at least two. They wore the black uniforms. Was the fan favorite...they placed second in semi's and then took the gold for finals overtaking the Blue Devils
My high school back in '15 had 2 Adams field frame 4.3 marimbas and 2 field frame vibes and they were extremely serviceable. Very high quality for their reasonable affordability.
Them and Yamaha are def the best right now at least imo. I've never used them but I'd just slightly edge Yamaha out over Adams because the frames are slightly less bulky and more streamline, or at least they look less bulky than Adams. Moving the 2 Adams keyboards we had while I was in high school were never a fun experience because of how heavy and wide they are. If you need to lift one up or down stairs or thru tight doors, good luck because those 4.3s are comparable to 5 octaves in weight. A big plus for Adams tho is their Rosewood and 5 octaves options since very few brands offer even one of either 5 ovtave or rosewood bars with the field frame but Adams does both.
The interesting thing about this is Phantom did Spartacus in 1981 and it was the first real programmatic show in DCI. Yes ancient 2 valve bugle days, I am old. Ground braking and set the way for what you see on fields today.

23:28 "There's so much violence in this" Welcome to your average Phantom Regiment show

Yes me too!!!
Spartacus never fails to give me chills. Such a good show!
The Rennick's are the best writers in Marching Percussion, Plain and Simple.

The show we’ve all been waiting for.
those mallet prototypes are so exciting can't wait to see them
Quote "Wait, why is everything backwards?"
Because you're over in Australia
I was waiting for someone to say this haha
If it’s a marching band and not DCI then it’s gonna have woodwinds
"The warrior has returned"
Sir...he's dead.

You really censored a DCI show for violence 😂 I love your reactions
Hahaha gotta abide by youtube tos :)))

*drum major dies*
“Is this allowed?”
My mind: can you imagine if there was a penalty for killing the Drum Major? This show would’ve been second.
Wait did they actually die? That would be so tragic
Edit: NVM i was panicking because i checked the comments before finishing the video
@@danielvegasandoval5449 lmao, thank god, no.
Felt that. That was me the first time I watched this show lol
Adams has been doing field frames for a while. Honestly I think they're the best to do it, but I have yet to see the M1 field frame in person.

I believe it was Brian who said Romani ite domum
