    Regarding legato latency: I think all libraries should offer a recording mode with zero latency for playability, and a playback mode with maximum latency for realism. Just an easy switch toggle, or even better an automatic toggle based on if you’re recording or playing back in your DAW. :)

    Nice comparison but if you are comparing the latest CSW version (1.3), you should update BWW as well. This is a much older version than the current one.

    While it's true that instruments can't predict the future, Straight Ahead Samples' flutes use an innovative 'Smart Delay' method to intelligently adapt to your playing nuances, creating realistic and expressive performances.

    What string library are you using in the demonstration with the staccato flute passage?

    Hi there! Would you please, PLEASE do a video comparison between Cinematic Studios Solo Strings and Orchestral Tools Berlin Strings First Chairs!? There is very, VERY little content and demo videos on Berlin Strings First Chairs and of course CSSS is well known and it would def help people like myself trying to find the correct solo string library! Thanks!

    Cinematic Woodwinds sound a cut above. I have no idea how hard it will/would be to work with any of their libraries (particularly the strings), evidently the best way is not to use Script workarounds, but just to try and do separate takes for the different articulations and use track compensation. ?

    The SINE flute sounds better than the old version used here, imho. Also, I think BWW seems better for orchestral blending than CSW, which seems more suited for soloistic passages.

      You get used to it, trust me! And there's no comparison to the end result when you start using those "long-form legato" libraries, the latency might reduce playability but you gain so much in return that it's a no-brainer. (They now have nice "lower latency" modes for playback too if needed and the Marcato is very responsive for fast passages)

    I don't know why you are using this old Berling version, you can upload it for free in SINE.

      I accidentally clicked on the video, but I actually wanted to see if anyone calls him out on using the old one ...
      Sometimes it's just a matter of how long ago they had the library, but there is no reason not to use a newer version of the instrument which makes me question the source if I'm being honest.
      Not trying to throw out any accusations, he may very well have a very old version of it from when it first came out, but he has to be one of the very few on the planet who would still use it outside of people or torrented

      It can be more complicated than that...
      With a huge template like he has, it's a very long process to replace every mic rooting, and make everything in place for the new Sine version.

    • @profundisconfutatis8093
      @profundisconfutatis8093 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@studiorayes this isn't even the capsule version of legacy this is just the old school legacy before the Berlin series really took form. You haven't been able to download that version of Berlin woodwinds legitimately in a *very* long time, and even if he did right when it came out, there are too many useful things in the capsule version that came out many many years ago, sans the revive update which added a ton of new samples(6-7 full new instruments)

    Neither are good unfortunately. In a doubling capacity they pass, but as solo they are not even good.

    • @tonyr.4778
      @tonyr.4778 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FireF1y644 yes there are. I think you cannot go for a single library. The best flute, best clarinet,best oboe, and best bassoon I have heard reside in different libraries. Use compression and reverb to make them blend as a unified group. I make my wind section as I would if contracting. It all comes down to knowing your libraries and building your wind section. It is an evolving process. I have favourites, as everyone does. As a flute player, I have found sample libraries that will work perfectly in certain scenarios.

      To me, as a mere viewer on TH-cam, the Cinematic series sounds really good relative to what's out there. I'd love to hear your opinion of which library has which of the best instruments.
