This is an example of a perfect TH-cam video: entertaining but also well organized, educational with a concise presentation; a lovable host with loads of personality; beautiful camera work with a good use of focus depth. All that plus top notch and enjoyable editing. Well done and thank you!
The last bit was great to hear. The ego is a big problem, which I think separates pros from amateurs, and what I'm struggling with myself personally. Pros are able to put that ego aside and laser focus on the goal, whereas amateus ego stands in the way and makes you either too self aware, if you're not confident, or too self-absorbed if you're too confident.
Your videos make me feel like I've reached the next level and unlocked some great composition secrets. Thank you so much for everything you have put out there and the great work you've done! Now to sit back down at my DAW for a reality check lol
BEST advice ever. Period. straight down to the point. No Beating around the bush... Simple, ugly truth. That's why writing music for media TO SERVE the project is the most important ingredient of all : understanding WHY. Bravo Marc 🙂
Hi Marc, thanks for reminding and helping us with making all of this our habit. Hope you will come up with a video about how not to overcompose, what is my worst pitfall (although the 10th mistake covered it pretty well).
Maybe the problem could be a director to say "it's 2022!"... It's only because all the music for media is made in USA... Great composer of the past in europe could describe all the emotions with an orchestra in such a wonderful way
Yeah, this video should be titled more like “Everything Wrong with Applied/Media Composition in 2022”. For the record, I’m not hating on the guy making the video. He’s just dishing out the sobering realities, compromises and sacrifices this kind of work entails in the modern age, but still, it doesn’t make it any less wretched.
Hey Marc great video!! I just have one question. If you pan a library that's already pre-panned aren't you panning the natural reverb of the sound as well? Is that okay? Thanks :) Btw I replied to one of your newsletter emails, hope you got it!
Yes, exactly And yes, that's ok. You're just panning it a small amount. I also freaked out the first time I saw someone doing it (it was Dennis Sands)... and it made no sense to me! But then the result is the only thing that matters I read your reply! Thanks so much! 🙏 I read all the responses to my emails. 🤩
Andrew Schepps 73 plugin has a Widen the Mix preset, he explains it in a video on here. One of the best mixing producers of all time, It works. Thanks for the tips. I might be interested in joining your website, I never looked into it until now. So many teachers! looks great, and the discounts too!
Great Video! Thank you! Quick question. Any reason why you prefer panning in Kontakt as opposed to the DAW? What do you think of the S1 imager by Waves?
the last two are the real world problems for most of the composers and music producers. you gave really good tips on how to avoid those problems.cheers 😄
Marc, you hit your elbow on 5:29. Is it okay after that? Not injured? The trauma at workplace! :) It's a joke of course, but I know how every little trauma of hands and fingers can lead to big problems later. Just need to practice more to restore finger movement capabilities. Very good video, and it's a lighthouse. Would transcribe it on A4 and put in a visible place. THANK YOU VERY MUCH again!
Wow dude, sometimes it feels like you have 5 brains in one head xd but hey, it's cool. ( By the way you give away a lot, more than anyone else I know, so thank for that! ) 🧡
