When she took one step the others had to take almost two, she is quite short in the back compared to her size, but horses like her are so elastic that they can accelerate with movements like a greyhound, I had two horses like that in my life, a very big pure bred Arabian that was as fast as a thoroughbred and a very small jumper that could beat much bigger horses.
Elastic is such a perfect way to describe it! Her strides look so effortless. I can’t even see any strain in her eyes nor face. Really nice filly!
It’s surprising too cause she’s a mare. Usually their backs are a bit longer

WOW! When she switched leads so effortlessly with a few links to go, it blew me away, shows just how athletic this beauty is.
She switched leads several times during the race.
NOTE: You will see a red ribbon, red pom-pom, red tag on horses if that horse kicks. It is "an equestrian" thing ... It applies Globally, Western, English, Driving, Jumpers, Fox Hunt, Trotting horses, Gaited horses too.
Not just an “equestrian thing”. It’s also done in car racing such as NASCAR. But rather than red ribbons or Pom poms they use red tape…this tape is put on rear bumpers of rookie drivers so all know to approach with caution. Kind like keeping your distance from horses that kick! 🤭😄
Note none of these horses lives matter. They are not fully grown and there legs break easily they will be slaughtered after they are no longer winning or breedable no matter how beautiful and how many times they win.

@@farrierette5216 dude… you do know it’s illegal in the US for racehorse owners to send a racehorse to slaughter right? Like, that’s something that’s HEAVILY regulated. Any and all race horses that are sent to slaughter were sent there by people who adopted them out
@@peachtea1607 Tell yourself that. I knew a vet that lost his license because he lied about necropsy. They shove ping pong balls up there nostrils and other awful things for insurance money.

Loves Only You won the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Hong Kong Cup last year.
Sodashi has won three Japanese Grade 1 races.
You don't see too many pure white race horses, it's very unusual! She's very beautiful!

Not surprising she’s a kicker. The great Ruffian had a lot of ginger in her system, and Rachel Alexandra is well-known to be a pill. Many racemares are feisty animals.

I hope she gets lucky and is retired before she gets seriously injured or dies. Horse racing is brutal and damaging to the legs and joints. Racehorses face a lot of abuse, harsh training, and when they’re too old for racing, they are slaughtered unless they are bought/adopted first. The training they receive also sticks with them for their whole lives and they tend to be fidgety, feisty, and are more go than whoa. They often pace along fences and may not stand still for grooming, tacking up, or mounting. On top of that, they are more likely to develop arthritis.
The racing industry is notorious for breeding horses purely for speed with no regard to strength, which results in horses with weak skeletal structures. Drugging horses is a rampant practice. Broken legs, injured joints, even deaths happen on the track all the time. My own Thoroughbred suffered an injury on the track and has arthritis. He was rescued from the slaughter, but most retired racehorses aren’t so lucky. Horse racing is not moral, ethical, safe, or humane. It is deadly, it is dangerous, it is a corrupt and greedy industry.
I don’t mean to come off as condescending or anything, I just want you to know that racing isn’t so innocent.

Perhaps, but on her day, she beat Loves Only You going 2000m. If you look at the size of her and the length of her stride, you might think 10F would be fine.
The Trainer & Owner or Owners need to keep what's working & not run in a division that's unknown stay the course she can be a legend

Nearly 50 years around horses and I have never seen a Thoroughbred that color....she is not a grey...and I don't think she is an albino....I would like to know what her color genetics are...anyone?

She is considered white and no, she is not an albino. If you look at her breeding, there is a white close up, I think that her dam was also white. And there is more white farther back. I guess that its something that runs in her bloodlines.
There is a family horse farm in KY that only has white Thoroughbreds. I think that they mainly just breed for color I don't think they have any contenders. Lookup White Thoroughbreds on youtube they will come up.
@@beckyshell4649 yes, I've seen some pics of their horses, it's been several years ago, yes I think that you are right, they mainly breed for color, not for racing quality. I'm not sure their horses are even purebred registered TBs.
Sodashi is the offspring of a single white-haired horse born by mutation in Japan.
This was a mare named Shirayukihime (Snow White), born to Sunday Silence and Wave Wind.
Sometimes a chestnut will give birth to a cremello if put to a palomino, so maybe that’s why she’s that colour, or genetic anomaly

Love it! Need more horses of color (that is what horses are called that are not your standard basic colors, Black, Bay/Brown, Chestnut/sorrel) to participate and win in horse racing! Love to see paints, palys, buckys, perlinos, cremellos, in the starting gate and winner's circle.
Most of those colors don't exist in the Thoroughbred breed.

There are very few purebred TB that are coloured or good enough to run.
@@Makado14 The reason we are only starting to see these colors in Thoroughbreds now is because of the knowledge of heredity traits and DNA tests. In the past, when an unusually colored Thoroughbred was born, its parentage was considered suspicious, and they were not allowed to be registered. Now that it is known these colors occur spontaneously, and thanks to DNA tests to prove it, we will see more horses like Sodashi in the future.

The Kentucky Oaks is for 3 year-old fillies. Sodashi is currently 4 years-old. But I do hope she comes to the U.S. for the Breeder's Cup.
