They aren’t even close in my opinion. I rank Fury way higher just because it has a strong layout and higher top speed. The drops are comparable sure, but the rest of the layouts couldn’t be more different. I’ll take Fury over most any hyper model by B&M.
I have Fury, Mako, Candymonium, and Goliath at SFOG all over Orion, and Diamondback is really close to Orion. If Diamondback didn't have the rattle I think it would be better as well. I only have Orion over Intimidator, Apollo's, Nitro, and Raging Bull from the Hypers. So Orion is sort of in the middle in terms of the Hyper model from B&M.
This isn't a contest. Out of 438 credits, Fury is my #8 and is an elite coaster. Orion is my #39. Orion lacks some truly great elements for me that Fury has. I actually prefer the Fury night ride as even though you don't go out into the woods you go into that field section. The real battles should be Fury 325 vs I-305 and Orion vs Millennium Force or maybe Leviathan.
Is there a reason the Giga's don't have as many camelbacks as hypers? I love a good airtime camelback and you would think with drops that huge they would take advantage of that speed for more camelback airtime.
As someone who has been on both, the disrespect people show to Orion is unreal. Seriously, to say it isn't a contest is absurd. If I am being honest, other than some extra track and a couple extra seconds, what exactly does Fury have over Orion? Nothing comes to mind. I would go as far as to say they are basically EVEN
Great video! I think I agree overall with your analysis, and I do enjoy Fury a bit more, but in one category I think I disagree. I was able to ride Fury 20 times in one day last month (July 2022), with an end of day marathon of about 11 rides. I did experience a bit of gray out in a few spots that were light and brief, but nothing that gave me serious vision loss. However, about a week (August 2022) later I climbed aboard Orion several times, and every time, the gray-outs were more pronounced and the effects were present during much of the ride, even in places where they maybe would not be expected. After a couple of rides on Orion, I had to take a break before I could get back on - it was that intense. I think the positive Gs on are more numerous and more pronounced on Orion than on Fury. In the one category of intensity, I would award the point to Orion. Seriously. My only other mild exception is to placing so much emphasis on the stats. There are dozens of cases in which comparing coasters head to head, the stats clearly make little difference as to the ride quality, and in fact in many cases are meaningless, as a smaller ride can beat the big boys in many cases (Mystic Timbers and Beast at the same park come to mind). When I ride on these two giant coasters, the only apparent difference, to me, in terms of the objective statistics, is the absolute length of prime ride time. Fury still wins of course, but not by much, and I would be reluctant to measure the tangible difference in any other way for this particular pairing of coasters. Of course, YMMV, and for those who love the stats, nothing wrong with applying one's own preference. I strongly agree with your final conclusion, that Fury gets the prize, but that Orion certainly punches up and delivers a terrific ride on its own terms.
I loved Fury and went on it 10X during my visit in May. But I have to say I enjoyed Copperhead Strike better because it’s more quirky and unique. Orion I’ll try for the first time in 10 days. Let’s see.
I'd give Fury the slight edge but to me they're very similar in elite status. Mostly Fury wins for me because it's longer, but I thought the themeing on Orion looked awesome and found its elements pop a bit more, particularly the speed hill.
I don't argue that Fury is better, but I have Orion right next to it in my rankings. I actually think that Orion has a superior first drop and I prefer it's pacing, but Fury really has all the elements to make an amazing ride. Great video 👍
There's no "preferring" Orion's pacing. Fury's pacing is faster and that is a mathematical fact, I think it covers track about 10 ft/sec faster than Orion. What a moron
If Orion had 2 or 3 more elements it would absolutely rank as one of the world's best, however it did make me grey out all three rides (and I don't get grey outs on anything)- so it is powerful for sure! I rank them both very high, but Fury is absolutely the B&M masterpiece!
I may be biased because I only live like 45 mins-1 hour away from Carowinds but with me being deathly afraid of heights and still loving Fury 325.. I think that speaks volumes.
Fury and it really isn't much of a comparison. That low to the grown turn over the entrance, the trebleclef and those last few bunny hills are all stand out moments on Fury. Orion really just has the drop for me, the rest of the elements don't feel out of this world. Just like some scaled up hyper coaster elements.
I've ridden both 20+ times each in the last 2 weeks. Both are great coasters, but Fury is the better of the two. For me, the deciding factor is that Orion needed to be just a bit longer.
If Kings Island would have went with Inatmin, it would have been renowned, unique, & amazing ride, it would give kings island that stand out coaster that it needs. Instead B&M kinda gave kings island a bit of a flop. From what I have noticed B&M almost seems like they are stuck when it comes to innovating new elements. All of their most recent coasters over 200+ feet are just a random assortment of recycled elements they've been using on coasters for decades now. One one hand, Orion is not a bad ride by any means. On the other hand, it's not very special either.
You're the first person I've ever heard mention the storage area that is Fury's setting. I noticed that right away on my first ride, and I thought it hurt the presentation somewhat. But the fact that nobody has ever mentioned it shows that most thoosies are blinded by their Fury love. I think Fury lacks in the view department by comparison to other gigas. Looking onto a parking lot and suburb just isn't as good to me as Orion, i305 & Millie. I thought for a time that I might like Orion more, but my 2nd visit to Carowinds last year solidified Fury > Orion. But I don't think it's nearly as big of a blowout as some others would think.
@@ethanfinley5813 well, it's more like half the ride that is around the storage area. The rest runs basically alongside the parking lot, which other coasters will get heavy criticism for from all enthusiasts. You're right that it's a nitpick, but it's still there and worth a mention. Off-ride presentation is great. On-ride, presentation isn't very good for most of the layout, but the dive under the walkway certainly hits for presentation all around.
I think about how, if that helix on Orion flipped into an outerbank at the top, the layout would be a masterpiece. People would be okay with its overbanks and more graceful elements. A little bit of everything. Lowkey just go in one off season and mess w that ;)
One thing I hate when it comes to enthusiasts and Orion is how they compare Orion so heavily to Fury. Be real, fury is the way that it is bc it was NEEDED for Carowinds. Ki didn’t need Orion but Orion is still good for what it is. Most enthusiast just downplay it for no reason.
Great Video, but it's not a contest. Some people don't even have it as the best in the park. But the only similar qualities that compare IMO is the drop. Fury is elite and superior in any other way
Fury is better overall. Better layout and better paced, better when the ops position the restraint normally. But it doesn't have anything on the intensity of Orion's Belt. If you prefer Intimidator 305 to Fury, you'll probably prefer Orion. I would also say I got the best ride between these 2 on Orion, where I rode in the back and they left me as much room as Phoenix at Knobles (you read that right) and the airtime I got on that specific ride was insane.
I have to agree with the main point in this video. Fury 325 is better, but when you break down into categories, I feel that Orion is not much lower in comparison to Fury. I agree that Orion's pacing, theme and most of its airtime moments are better than Fury's. But fury has the treble cleft, the low to the ground speed and that first turn heading towards the border. Fury is my favorite coaster (and of course favorite Giga) Orion is in my top 5, along with steel Vengeance, Diamondback and Iron Rattler (and 2nd favorite Giga)
would love to see something like this pitting Fury, Orion, and Leviathan against each other (winner gets 2 points, runner up gets 1 point). Like yeah we know that Fury is better than Orion now but is Orion better than Leviathan? A fight for the ages
I haven’t been on any but I might get on Orin soon. I had a feeling Fury would win because all the coaster channels give fury a lot of attention. I haven’t even rode Fury but I feel like people are bias, but maybe it is just a great coaster idk.
Fury is by far the best steel coaster I've been on, love Orion as well, but rank Leviathan slightly higher than Orion just cause the first half is much better (think of it as 1A and 1B with them).
Personally, the biggest reason I prefer Orion is consistency. However, Fury is just one spot below Orion in my rankings. I love both coasters, both are elite. I just have to give Orion the edge for the sake of consistency. Fury dies after that helix sadly, where Orion keeps it's pacing so well all the way through. But it's a very close race for sure.
I feel like literally every single coaster youtuber has to have a cringey intro montage, but I think that yours is very different. I personally think that this intro would be perfect if it weren't for the cut to your logo after the text. Anyway great video!
Airtime is not close. I’ve ridden both a lot during the summer and Fury gets ejector level at its peak whereas Orion is floater at best. I’ve seen these before and while I expect some “ties” for parity, pacing and airtime are easily Fury wins. Even with being to kind to Orion Fury still easily won. But it should have been even more 1 sided. Fury is world class at its worst, and at its best gives moments of RMC level ejector. My recent rides in July were insane! Same month on Orion, just enjoyable and not even top 5 in the park.
@@XscreamThrills In no order I enjoyed The Beast, Twisted Timbers, Banshee (jumped into my top inverted spot with force that never banged my head), and Diamond back as better pure rides. And The Racer was so much fun that the experience of high fiving riders in the other train was pure joy. So that really pushed it up my list because I laughed just as much on my rides of that as I did on any other coaster. Orion was kind of blah after the first drop. The rest I listed provided fun from start to finish.
Fury 325 its no contest. I have ridden all the NA gigas except Leviathan and here's how I rank them: 1. Intimidator 305 2. Fury 325 3. Orion 4. Millennium Force
Naw Fury 325 is still objectively better, but Orion is good for what it's designed to do. If you've never ridden a giga before it's still a crazy experience.
Orion is a coaster to not underestimate, but Fury 325 is still better. In my opinion, if Fury 325's helix was more like Orion's, then it would be a perfect coaster.
Unfortunately I’ve never been on 325 but I’ve been on Orion at least 20 times now. Orions first drop is among one of the best, other than that it’s not really that exciting imo. Diamondback feels more intense than Orion
I love your videos and respect your opinion, of course, because it is yours, but from my point of view (and I have ridden both of them like a million of times each) there is no comparison. There is a very clear and strong reason for Fury being placed in most enthusiasts top 10 lists all over the world, and not Orion. For me it would be like 10000 - 0 to Fury, 😅
As a person with no biases I haven’t ridden either and i would say fury is longer faster and I think just looks better Orion is to short if they made a ride with the scale and size of fury it may challenge it
But Orion is good for the size that it is. There’s so many roller coasters that are small but rrly good for what they are and I think ppl underestimate or just downplay Orion bc they don’t like it’s stats or how it isn’t like every other Giga
Everyone hates on Orion says Fury shits on it but Fury shits on every coaster expect I305 and Steel Vengeance, there is not another B&M that comes lose to Fury so your comparing Orion to a prefect coaster. Fury even shits on Iron Gwazi.
Fury is easily the better coaster, Orion is no slouch tho. Fury is a great coaster In a good park, Orion is a good coaster in a great park. So to me it's fair trade off. Carowinds needs the stronger coaster as it's top 4 are great but its remaining coaster line up is a little lacking. Kings island has a pretty great all around line-up so having a Giga that isn't THE best is fine imo. Fury is best coaster at Carowinds. Orion (although good) isn't the best coaster at Kings island.
I do feel that CedarFair takes special care not to put rides that would feel too similar to each other at both Kings Island and Cedar point. It would be semi pointless to visit both parks in one season every season if each park essentially had the same rides just slightly better or worse than each other.
I've never warmed up to Orion and I never will, or feels like Cedar Fair didn't really try with it and didn't take advantage of the one thing that King's Island has, terrain. So not only did King's Island never need a giga, it's not even a giga worthy of being built there. However the main reason why I consider Orion one of the worst coasters ever built is because I see it as everything wrong with the way Cedar Fair has added coasters to their parks starting in the 2010's. ValleyFair! is the closest CF park to me and we've been neglected severely in the coaster front, so instead of investing 30-million into two smaller (10-15 million) coasters for parks that haven't gotten a new major coaster IN OVER A DECADE, they instead invest that 30-million into a coaster for a park that had only gone three years without a new big one in a ride that looks phoned in. Bear in mind this is coming right after working with Gersaluer, RMC AND GCI in 2017 and 2018, you know, things that smaller parks like World's of Fun, Michigan's Adventure Dorney Park and ValleyFair! could benefit from. While they did rectify WoF, the other three are still without a new major coaster. Yes I know that things with RMC didnt really work out, but Vekoma has been making a splash so they were an option if they wanted to branch out. This clear favoritism when they threw the smaller parks a bone with the idea of rides like HangTime being an option on a ride that I never liked to begin with is why I despise Orion so much. It's not the coaster itself (which I still feel doesn't look very good to begin with given what they had to work with), it's that it exists in the place of stuff for the parks that NEED the love more than King's Island did. It took all of the issues that I had with the way that CF treated their smaller parks with a ride that I never truly liked to begin with, for me it was the straw that broke the camel's back with CF's ride policy. If the smaller parks got the love that they desperately need I still wouldn't be the biggest fan of Orion for its wasted opportunities of a B&M flyer or a layout that actually made use of the terrain outside of the main drop, however due to the fact that my nearest Cedar Fair park hasn't seen a major new coaster since Renegade in 2007 on top of the other neglected CF parks turn it into something that I'd rather see destroyed. I REALLY hope that Zambezi Zinger is a step in the right direction for Cedar Fair in giving their smaller parks some love. I wouldn't be too upset if most of the CGA coasters got scrapped while the smaller parks got new coasters built for them instead, it would still be a loss, but in that case some good would come out of it.
A 30 million dollars 300 foot coaster that is the most popular coaster at a park that draws in 3 plus million and draws in crowds is the worst coaster ever built because it wasn’t the unrealistic no limits coaster you thought you were entitled to? Makes since.
I disagree. Orion is a real Giga because it’s drop is 300ft. Just because the height is 287 ft does NOT mean that it’s not a true giga. Remember, a Giga coaster is a coaster with a Height OR drop between 300ft and 399ft.
All of these people saying it’s not even a contest are out of their mind. Orions drop is better and the pacing is better. Fury’s helix is weak as hell and if you take it out fury is a mere 2 seconds longer. Of course Orion could’ve been a lot better but the reality is it’s still right up there with fury. I305 on the other hand is better than both of them.
While I agree Orion is underrated I think Fury is a lot better honestly I didn’t think it would be but those low to the ground turns are just euphoric. The drops are identical as I don’t know which one is better because they feel the same to me. I still think Orion is the best ride at ki. I305 is a different animal from either
@@XscreamThrills it just doesn’t really have what I like in a coaster. I do respect your love for fury and I have nothing wrong with that but it’s not my cup of tea.

Fury 325 is an amazing coaster and is my favorite of the 2 👍
As a person with no biases I haven’t ridden either and i would say fury is longer faster and I think just looks better Orion is to short if they made a ride with the scale and size of fury it may challenge it
But Orion is good for the size that it is. There’s so many roller coasters that are small but rrly good for what they are and I think ppl underestimate or just downplay Orion bc they don’t like it’s stats or how it isn’t like every other Giga
Orion!
Anyone spot a rider losing what looks like a phone at 5:44 ?
Everyone hates on Orion says Fury shits on it but Fury shits on every coaster expect I305 and Steel Vengeance, there is not another B&M that comes lose to Fury so your comparing Orion to a prefect coaster. Fury even shits on Iron Gwazi.
Someone lost their phone at 3:29
Which is why you don't take loose items on roller coasters :)
@@XscreamThrills you got that right
Orion=10 and fury=10
Only because i almost died last time that i rode Fury because i did not know there was a crack in the support structures.
Compare Leviathan to Orion!!
I have a feeling their next project will be using the terrain more
A 30 million dollars 300 foot coaster that is the most popular coaster at a park that draws in 3 plus million and draws in crowds is the worst coaster ever built because it wasn’t the unrealistic no limits coaster you thought you were entitled to? Makes since.
fury and its not close
Orion honestly is a disappointment if the layout is longer then you would have something to argue but I gotta go with Fury
I DONT even think its even comparable fury's way better i feel like Orion is more comparable to leviathan
Haven't ridden Leviathan yet so can't say
Fury is better no comparison Orion isn’t even a real giga and it’s way too short no airtime one good element it’s a boring ride
I disagree. Orion is a real Giga because it’s drop is 300ft. Just because the height is 287 ft does NOT mean that it’s not a true giga. Remember, a Giga coaster is a coaster with a Height OR drop between 300ft and 399ft.
@@Rohrbach00 right but Orion still sucks
Dude idk what Orion you rode that had "no airtime" it's got at least 4 fantastic airtime moments
@@derpnowitzki1766 haha ok I rode the same Orion you did and experienced no airtime and it was boring diamondback is so much better
if apollo’s chariot and phantom’s revenge are hypers, then orion is a giga
Fury is better by a landslide! Not even a question
You made it sound a little too close.. Fury easily beats Orion
Orion is more comparable to Leviathan probably
Orion! I don’t even like fury.
Why the hate for Fury?
@@XscreamThrills it just doesn’t really have what I like in a coaster. I do respect your love for fury and I have nothing wrong with that but it’s not my cup of tea.
Bro just called Orion a giga coaster 💀
you don’t?? 💀💀
Orion no where in same class, not even close at all. no air time at all on Orion to me, lame story line for Orion, I was absolutely mad. I mean mad when I rode Orion, was really really disappointed in it
Fury325 is the best better then volasia coaster and I305
Orion lacks a bunch element wise
200th view
Y a débat même
Orion isn’t even better than Leviathan
Dumb comparison. Not even worth debating.
