I was at king dominion last august to ride i305 and it broke down the whole day then reopened the next. So now it’s my number 2 bucket list coaster lol
Now I absolutely love I305, in fact, its my number one, but now you got me thinking, would Kings Dominion be a better park if this was never built. I could see either side, but it probably would be a better park and have more success if they built a B&M giga. Idk, this rides still my number one so maybe not.
@@RollercoasterDavid I say this because it basically was a 25 million dollar failure so they didnt get basically any ROI and it let BGW get that far ahead. If they had bought something else instead they might still be competing well with BGW.
@@RealWildWalterHersheypark went through a bit of the same rough patch with Skyrush. Skyrush is a super intense winged, hyper hybrid coaster that was a bit too intense for the general public. So Hersheypark built the more tame floater airtime coaster with Candymonium to compensate.

Between the time they built I305 and the time they built Twisted Timbers BGW built Invadr, Tempesto, Verbolten, and started to plan Pantheon while King s Dominion removed Volcano, an innovative standout coaster, Shockwave, a classic standup, and Hurler (albeit, for a better RMC)
Intimidator is an unmatched monster in almost every way. It's got it all as far as I'm concerned, and the only coaster I've ridden that I like better is Maverick.
Funny isn't it, that I305 was designed as a love child between Maverick and Millie... but even with a 300ft drop people still tend to prefer Maverick. Not me though! I'll take that blood draining intensity any day ha

I was confused for like 2 seconds how Red Force made the list but not Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka. Then I learned how to read! Giga Coaster and NOT Strata Coaster.
everyone hates on Steel Dragon 2000 but my 3 rides on it in May 2023 were fast and packed full of airtime. I guess in comparison to other traditional gigas it may seem weak but I loved it. That and Hakugei are must rides at Nagashima Spa Land. Hakugei would be my #1 if it had better restraints and operations but I have to give it to Velocicoaster currently!

I've been lucky enough to have ridden Millennium Force, I-305, Fury and Orion. While Fury is my favorite by a wide margin, I will agree that I-305 is an incredible experience. There's nothing quite like it.
I 100% agree with your placing of Leviathan above Millennium Force. I too after riding it this year for the first time, was very underwhelmed by its layout! The height and length and great, but was unimpressed with the overall ride experience. Don't get me started on the queue music!
I think. you present tracks that are really high and long tracks. have you tried Linnanmäki Taiga? it is in Finland. I can tell you that you can really feel the speed 😊

I've ridden Millennium Force, all three B&M "giga" hypers including the two strata coasters Top Thrill Dragster in the back car and and Kingda Ka in both the back the front rows. On the other hand: I've not yet ridden Superman at SFMM, (I know; it's a shuttle coaster but it's a giga, not a strata due to its 328' drop) Steel Dragon 2000, Intimidator 305 or Red Force. I think I'd like Red force better than either of the Strata coasters even if the launch is inferior, due to its drop twisting 90 degrees to the right instead of 270 degrees to the left and granting a better 90 degree drop, but it doesn't compare to a FULL LAYOUT coaster like the other six Giga coasters. BTW Red force's drop is 344'. Of the four I've ridden it's tough between 4: Leviathan in the front or back car; and 3: Orion in the back right seat; then 2: Millennium Force in the back car (row 17 and 18) and 1: Fury 325 in the front left seat. I really want to ride Intimidator 305 and also Phantom's Revenge, Superman El Escapo, Steel Dragon 2000 and also Hyperion (in the back car in one of the middle non wing seats); the tallest and fastest sub giga coaster in the world! Superman at SFMM is not a hyper/giga/strata, as it is not a full circuit coaster. And before anyone asks, yes, coasters with switch tracks count as hyper/giga/strata, as they still perform a full circuit (powder keg, pantheon, presumed future dragster, etc.).
@@schumi246 No, it's just that it's a shuttle coaster so nobody counts it. But many people call it a Strata coaster and they're incorrect since it only has a 328' drop.
I-305 was AMAZING in its opening year. That first turn after the drop was so intense and the speed was relentless. It’s still good now, but not like it was!
I’ve only done Fury and i305 but I agree i305 takes the top spot. It’s just so intense and fast the whole way through and the transitions are WILD. It’s my current number 1 coaster.
Intimidator 305 best giga? I’ve ridden this dozens of times. This issue is not the intensity. Vest restraints, on the shorter side and particularly the tragic trim breaks 2/3 the way through…nope.
See, I don't actually mind the trim, it makes the hill floater and last longer. It's something different from the elector air on the rest of the ride. Sure, you allow down, but you're getting airtime as you slow.
@@RollercoasterDavid sadly I only had a few hours there so I got 4 rides on Hakugei, 3 on steel dragon, 1 on arashi and 1 on demon drop. I need to spend a full day there and enjoy it all, the park is huge and full of fun things to do! Sorry for the long comment but I also bought the HUGE Hakugei stuffed whale and I am looking at it right now :)
@@fear7126 It is very intense, it makes your vision black, and it does not have many airtime points, not to mention that at the end of the route there is a trim and it loses a lot of speed, it does not seem like one of the best giga coasters to me.
@@fran0033Did we ride the same ride? I305 had tons of airtime, more than coasters like Maverick, Ghostrider, Maverick, Skyrush, Candymonium, and especially Millennium Force, which I actually love regardless of its forces. Basically every element except the low turns on i305 sent me out of my seat.
For me i305 is #3 in the park and #7 in virginia - other than the first turn the other turns don't feel too powerful and the whips just feel like airtime hills because of the awful restraints
I wonder if we'll ever see any more giga coasters. Discounting Red Force, I wish we had one of these in Europe. The closest thing is the nearly giga-sized Hyperion.
Hyperion and shambhala aren't that far off from giga heights. There were rumours of a new giga going to Knott's berry farm at one point, but I think plans are on hold or have been cancelled
I find the B&M gigas a bit boring. I much prefer their hypers with their epic floater. Give me i305 and Millennium over the B&M gigas any day. The sense of speed on the intamins is insane
I like coasters, but not ones that are really high. I prefer long ones that have more twists and turns closer along the ground rather than going airborne. The Batman at 6 Flags Over Texas is probably my favorite. As you state with these rides, The Batman is WAY too short of a ride. I'd love to be on it for at least 10 minutes at a time.
well then you would consider a coaster with a 300ft lift hill and a 250ft drop a giga? the drop is what really matters there are plenty of terrain coasters that do the same thing but no one argues that they’re not in that height class idk why orion has this argument

I thought Maverick was a shitty rollercoaster! The restraints are too overwhelming for the car

@@robhaley5136 apparently Yukon Striker's vests are the best. I find that they can pinch you on the waist by the end of the ride, G forces and all.

I live in Virginia and the fact that the number 1 giga coaster in the world( in his opinion) is just so cool to me
