Like I mentioned to Spencer, I love that cream! The scent I get from it is Bourbon, Cedar & a very Light hint of Vanilla. An awesome pairing aftershave for that cream is the NiveaMen Deep Impact, the one with the black, grey & blue label. You’ve gotta give that cream credit, where credit is due, regardless if it’s mane-stream or not. . . I too agree, it’s got a nice cologne scent, with the perfect hint of menthol. I missed a day, so this morning I switched from the 0.63 mm closed Masamune base plate to the 0.73 mm open comb to mow off the 2 days' growth. It too has negative exposure, but the blade was significantly more noticeable than with the closed comb. (By the way, I'm using Astra SPs for most of these shaves -- they're my standard). The open comb gave me an idea how the Nodachi must feel to you. The Tataras are surefooted, holding the blade and even the head with absolutely no give. That makes for a very unusual shave. With the closed comb it's almost cartridge like. The open comb razor is too aggressive to compare to a cartridge, but it did not nick or irritate me anywhere, and 2 passes plus a modest cleanup gave me a very good shave. I doubt there are many, if any, open combs out there that could have done so well. I'd have pressed for BBS but didn't want to ask for trouble as I often do with new equipment I haven't mastered. Maybe next time I skip a day. For now, it's back to the closed comb. The open comb plate didn't produce a noticeable squeegee effect (which thanks for mentioning, Cris). Don't know why. Maybe more lather passes through the teeth of the comb, leaving enough of it behind. Maybe I used less pressure because of the increased exposure and overall aggressiveness. Maybe I'm wetting the lather or adjusting in some other unconscious way that will take more more than 6 shaves in 7 days to figure out. But it went very well.
The Simpsons Duke 2 was my first ever shaving brush. It is Best Badger, and it is brilliant. Was wanting to know the 'pleasure' of using a Silver Tip or Super Badger, and bought the Simpsons Emperor. Now used and in full bloom, it's exceptional. Nice to see a review of such a cheap item proving to mix it with the big boy's, and again, this helps anyone new to D.E realise it doesn't have to be big bucks means better every time.
I saw this review and was anxious to try it. Did a head and face shave with it tonight and it is everything you said! Phenominal lather and love the scent. A great value too. Thank you!
Great shave! I gotta hand it to Gillette on this one, they knocked it out of the park with this mass produced cream... it works incredibly well and you can use it with anything, DE, shavette or straight... it’s definitely slick enough for whatever sharp implement you want to use with it. Hi Cris. Gillette Pure showed up at a local grocery store about two months ago. I swore up and down I wasn`t going to buy any more soaps or creams. Well yeah uh huh😊So after watching your high praise of Pure looks like I`m going to succumb one more time.lol Thanks for the video.

WOW, a different handle? Nice!! That is a cool information! I see the form has a connection to parts of Japanese Temples...but still, not working for me. A more "normal" handle sucks for them as a designer i guess, but maybe helps them selling the razor. For me? Still the price is a problem. But maybe trading ot get a used one. :-)
Hey no fair I've never been able to get this Gillette Pure can to lather up with any amount of thickness like that! 😅 It's probably the Williams creating the volume, I guess. I've given Gillette Pure an honest try twice before and it's slick don't get me wrong, but volume\cushion is just as important for me otherwise I get nicks too easily, which is why I do not like these shaving creams even though I enjoy the fact that these companies are moving away from cans a bit. I would totally tryout Gillette making a shaving cream in a tube that lathers up with the same volume that a regular shaving cream or soap does. But anyways, take care!

Where is the cream found in the UK? It's not on amazon.co.uk, nor is it listed on the gillette.co.uk website. Is it U.S. only?
Williams is usually my daily soap but I must admit that Gillette Pure has my attention.
