- Trying out a much requested new shaving cream from Gillette. I’ve been asked at least a dozen times to do a shave with it and see how it does. Also, been asked to give the Aftershave balm from Bevel Shaves a try. I’ll be using both of them in today’s shave.
Gillette's flagship razor 1953-1955 The President.
It is the only U.S. made razor to feature Rhodium plating (except one other razor, the 1949-1950 Gillette Executive). Unlike the 1949-1950 Executive, it is not fully Rhodium plated. The head of the razor has a very heavy nickel plate, and also features a nicer polish job than most other Gillette razors.
The President and the Diplomat are identical razors, aside from the fact that the Diplomat is gold plated.

Gillette Pure seems to be widely available in Canada. Not sure about the UK, can’t remember if PaulH or Kevy have reviewed it or not. I have a tube of it. I give it an 8 out of 10.

Yep, I love the Gillette "Pure" shave gel. Very easy to get a rich lather and the mint is so fresh feeling. It's common in most supermarkets in Australia, cheap too! Surprised I missed this video

I buy the pure down here in Kentucky at Kroger for like 5.99 and I have to say it’s great I always use a brush with it works and smells great can’t beat it for the price

Coincidentally, I saw that Gillette Pure shave cream available on the shelf at a Wal-Greens in NC, Friday(8/23). I think the price was $8.00 and change. So, for once the Internet isn't the only game in town.

Shaved with this today. The smell is amazingly clean. And a tiny bit goes a looooooong way. The amount you put on your scuddle, you could shave the entire Airborne Division with the lather that comes out of that. And now it's available on Amazon, 3 for like 15 bucks.

I had to giggle when you said fart dust and pee rust cos that is just what it comes to eh LOL!! Back on subject I am trying the Pure out this afternoon but not with a Gillette blade they hack me to pieces so it is going to be a second shave on a Polsilver in a Gillette Super Slim Adjustable 109.

Picked some up at Target here for about 6 bucks. Seems to be somewhat citrusy, good lather in the scuttle and not harsh at all. Thanks for the review Ken, been unable to comment as the government job has kept me busy. Hate the end of the fiscal year, and the start of the new one isn't much better...

We can’t get the Pure shave gel in the UK but I think it’s branded as SkinGuard shave gel over here.

Just finished my shave trying this cream for the first time with a fresh Kai blade in my '62 Slim Adjustable. Awesome scent, glide and protection.

You can either use a brush or just apply with your hands on that shave cream.. it does say it on the back I believe but I enjoyed it!! Really good soap that’s widely available in most drug stores

Birth year and quarter, don't know if it was ever used😊 Walgreens/Walmart carries the Gillette Pure here, my son uses and seems to like it, no issues for him. I haven't tried it but it's cheap at $5.99 or so, may give it a spin. Great video and review, thanks. Enjoy!

I always go to the shaving isle at the Wally World and saw it there. Had no trouble finding it. The scent is something some people may hate. Smells like a cheap cologne from my youth in the 80's, but I sorta like it. But it's consistency, lather, and shave quality is equal to something like Prorasso imo. I see a lot of Amazon reviewers bashing it because they are can shavers and think you only have to put some in your hand and rub it on. I think this stuff is meant to lather, but they don't explain that on the tube.

Walmart has Gillette Pure. Very impressive shave cream too, and lathers up just fine with a brush.
Where I live you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a tube of that shave cream...it's practically on the shelf of every store that sells shaving supplies. It sells for between $5.99 and $6.99 depending on the store.

Love the Gillette Pure! Works very well. How did you like the scent? I can find this stuff in just about any Wal Mart around my neck of the woods.
It lathers very easily and bursts into a lather almost immediately!

I just got into vintage Gillette razors with a notched 1948 Superspeed and then a 1959 Fatboy and I just bought two Slim adjustable’s off the bay… I’ve been looking for a rhodium plated Gillette and it’s not easy… or cheap

Bought a tube of the Gillette pure today at the supermarket for $4.50 AUD. Might go and buy another tube at that price. I'll give it a trial tomorrow.

Great shave Ken! Yeah this cream is very underrated, it is excellent with great slickness, produces a great shave! Hey Ken one other thing, you might want to try Dior Sauvage Aftershave lotion ( it is liquid form). A little pricey but fantastic scent. I also own the edt cologne.

@@kensurfs Okay it just so happened that Gillette Pure was selling at a discount at my local pharmacy. I used a 34C (not my favorite razor, but gentle.... I tend to use it when I test out new shave care products.... )
I was excited to try it. I am a Gillette fan boy, and unbeknown to many I have quite a collection including 18 Techs! That is probably why made Replitech first!
PURE smells fantastic. It is a very "clean scent." I tend to use a synthetic brush when I am using a shave cream. PURE whipped up a lather so fast I was surprised. The lather was rich and creamy. Very creamy, but not at all heavy and thick like say Proraso, or Nivea. The lather was also very slick. Extremely slick. The 34C glided over my face and I didn't even know it was there! No nicks, no weapers and a BBS shave.

I tried the canned Gel version....it's basically Nivea Men Sensitive ; Cooling....for 3 $ more..and 1 oz less. they need to work on their pricing still with their other products.

Just got a tube here at Walmart in Pico Rivera,CA in LA. Had about 5 in stock, I just shaved using my vdh puck with my qshave merkur futur clone and astra blades before going but I cant wait to try it next shave. Smells really clean.

Great shave Ken and a great looking vintage razor- I was able to find this shave cream in pretty much any pharmacy section in some different shops in this part of Canada(London Drugs, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Superstore). It is a decent shave cream, much better than the gels that are loaded with alcohol. Have a great shave and a great week - Cheers

Nice shave, Ken. I found Pure in Walmart and Target. I'm pretty sure that barbasol still makes their sensitive skin formulation- I picked some up and it's not bad.

I really like this cream, really nice performance all-around and a good price ( here in Canada, you can sometime find it for less than 5$ at Walmart). When I want to introduce someone to wet shaving, this is the cream I put in the kit now.
After my own review of the cream, a lot of my Europeans viewers asked me how to find the cream. I contacted Gillette and ask them when it would be available over there and they told me it will not be released in Europe. Mistake if you ask me...

This Gillette shaving cream is available at my nearest Meijer store. Have not tried it yet. But I tried my Palmolive shaving cream. Worked great for a face lather.

Can get it here in Griffin, Georgia at the Kroger and Walmart. Dollar General carries DE blades in packages w their brand name for $1 a 5 pack. Surprisingly very nice performance for myself on the first blade and third day using it.
