It's worse in Strange Journey when the screen just starts to fade when you die I had no idea what was happening. I had to get a second dose to understand what it was doing as I didn't have any demons with Hama or Mudo skills.
I can Honestly say that SMT games made me a better gamer. The games really teach you to take advantage of all your tools and mechanics. and i learned how useful Support skills like buffs & Debuffs can seriously save your ass or just flat out break the game. So I kind of have a Love/Hate relationship with these games lmao.
Once there's enough free time in between new releases we definitely will play more smt games. I know for a fact, the next SMT game we will play on this channel, will be SMT IV Apocalypse. but I've been wanting to play Digital Devil Saga for a while now, it'll happen once there's enough free time for sure.
for me I have a worse I was playing p3p on my PSP I was playing as the female protagonist I die to my teammates because they were Charmed no all of us ware charmed and my teammates attack me and they keep getting criticals on me so I died
those crits from elizabeth while he was electrocuted, i'm not a huge expert on these games but i figured out pretty early in that game that being electrocuted means a melee attack will be a crit, something he somehow never figured out and was "shocked" by it.
@@jcdejesus2296 yeah my point was any party member or enemy that is in shock status will suffer a crit if they get hit by a melee attack, and he didn't seem to know that even though he was far into the game. most people probably figured it out the 2nd or 3rd time they shocked an enemy, very early in the game.

@@fervcorsica3358 Hence the reason why after losing to Minotaur 100 times I didn't bring Walter or Jonathan for try 101 and I barely got the win, the first 50 losses were due to Walter being a dumbass of a AI partner and spamming Agi resulting in Minotaur getting healed to full, and the coveted smirk status via the immunity to fire attacks/offensive abilities/offensive spells multiple times resulting in me screaming multiple times in frustration "WALTER YOU IDIOT STOP SPAMMING AGI!!!!", and the second 50 losses came from Jonathan being a dumbass and not using Bufu at all resulting in me saying multiple times due to frustration "Jonathan you have the spell that is of the Ice element this pain in the ass bull demon's weakness is it to much to ask for you to act like a competent squad-mate and use it." And for try 101 I actually brought the female AI Companion and she allowed me and my party of demons to barely get the win seriously she was more useful then the incompetent/dumbass duo of Walter and Jonathan.
That's why I LOVE SMT IV even though it's not that hard. Flynn dying and not having to die in battle makes instant death situations RNG BS cuz SMT bearable

(SMT IV (two endings), Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 (Bad & True ending), Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Raidou Kuzunoha vs Soulless army (Its real time strat. not turn based), & Persona Q (I think thats it but there is probably more that I can't remember). I didn't play Nocturne because I watched your playthrough *before* playing it & not after so I decided not to since i was strapped for cash & already saw an ending. My most recent SMT BS experience was Digital Devil Saga 2, I was just starting my 3rd or 4th sitting with the game, I got comfortable, booted the game up & pressed play. My very first encounter was two Loas, they went first, the first Loa used Mamudoon, killed my entire team, I lost. I then stopped & thought about my life for 5 minutes, & for some reason continued playing. I had extreme save paranoia after that for the rest of my playthrough. P.S. You probably know this by now too but if you''re frozen after a bufu its a guaranteed critical hit as well.

I experienced a moment very similar to number 9 when playing Apocalypse earlier today. A demon asked what it wanted so I said it wanted my Macca, said it didn't want my Macca, then immediately asked for around 650 Macca and it left after taking my money.
I think it's worse to be charmed and have your own character heal a boss to full considering that you can't really prevent that, you can atleast expect the heal from titania and play around it, besides when i fight demi fiend i expect to lose anyway.
That shit happened to me too! I was yelling and had to sit for a few minutes before continuing the fight! I thought I just had bad luck, but I think that's just how they do shit. Random...my ass! Try Digital Devil Saga 2 when you fight God and it just keeps spamming all of the strongest elements and when that doesn't work it begins to spam Megidolaon! I had to come back to the game years later, level up to the point where I taught all of my characters to null specific things and even went as far as taking Gale and Seraph all the way to Null Elements and Null Physical just to win. Fuck that shit, I know how to crash that Mantra grid LOL!

I;m currently playing SMTIV Apocalypse with the DLC "Apocalypse" difficulty, and my playthrough resembles this video with so many missed hits. But I love it because "ZIOOO"

Wanna kill the Minotaur? *Sukukaja*, *Sukunda* and *Healing Knowhow* are your friends. Even if his Labrys Strike nails a Crit, he will lose two turns if even one of the attacks misses, so max out your team's chance to dodge for a safe fight. If Flynn dies, any currently-deployed demon with Healing Knowhow can ressurect him with a Revival Leaf/Bead. Nonetheless, I laughed very hard at this video and can definitely relate to some of these moments! I'm still trying to unlock the Neutral Path on SMT4 though :(
Tangata Manu has one. It's easy enough to fuse, or to recruit from Naraku Depth 3 if you grab the Demilingual app early. I believe Harpy also has one and you can fuse one before meeting Minotaur if you have the right lineup. You cannot recruit Harpy from Naraku.

All the Hama/Mudo moments make me VERY happy that Strange Journey Redux gives you both a skill to avoid game overs when the Protag dies AND armor that nulls both light and dark. Feels good, feels refreshing (won’t save me from bad negotiations tho......)

smt 4 was his first smt game(not counting persona) ,tbh im pretty sure he did waaaaaay better than the vast majority of people on their first smt experience, now he just facerolls all smt games and we dont get gems smt bs moments anymore sadly
The funny thing is... I actually killed the Minotaur on my first try. How? Well... I thought that if I go too far into the game, my sidequests might be impossible to finish(it was my first SMT game). So... I grinded levels until I could beat the hordes and David. At this point... the Minotaur was a pushover. The Medusa tho... oh boy, that was a wild ride filled with party wipe combos from her...
8 is why hama and mudo just straight up should not exist. No matter how unlikely you make it to land, it always could still hit. And then you get sent back 30+ minutes because the game's RNG said "no pass for you."
Nothing like a good old hama to the face to ruin the good time you are having. Oh you are taking a stroll to the gem shop in nocturne, well here comes a low level angel to stop your progress with hama. These games are basically "Hope you save every ten minutes, the video game"
I bet you Minotaur will be here. Him or one of the fiend battle such as Matador or David. I swear they caught you off guard and wreck your playthrough. To this day, the sight of such fiend still gets me every time. Nocturne induced the trauma in me... sigh...
ThatIrishPerson97 they have 1/256 chance of appearing in certain location such as Toyosu shelter for Matador or a shelter in Kasumigaseki IIRC for Red Rider
His reaction to Elizabeth was pretty much like mine after I walked into her trap the 1st time. She's absolute torture for your soul if you played that on easy mode with the insta-revives. You just got to sit there and watch her Megidolaon yo ass over...and...over...and over again. Haven't played on easy mode since. XD
I remember in Nocturne I was going trough the Obelisk when I got a random encounter, it was a 3 Succubus formation they attack first: - One cast Dormina - Miss my demons but hits Demi-fiend - The following Succubus cast Eternal Rest - Game Over
My responses to each moment. No.10: Yeah, the insta-death spells are weird. Fun in your hands, irritating in the enemy's. It never feels like you have any way of defending against it unless you know in advance that you might go up against enemies with Hama or Mudo or whatever and equip yourself accordingly. And in blind runs, that usually means you have to die first. No. 9: I am not somebody who has a lot of experience with Shin Megami Tensei, but I think I can safely say that IV's demon negotiations are the cruelest, most unforgiving thing in the whole goddamn series. It's like tightrope walking - slow, tense, and very likely to end in serious injuries even when you know what you're doing. No. 8: Basically just what I said for 10. No. 7: Again, what I said for 10, but with an additional point. David attacks you when you're weakened from the horde fight, and he's pretty damn tough too. No. 6: You have a lovely singing voice. No. 5: Elizabeth is an optional superboss. Of course she's gonna be a tough cookie. But Persona 3's One More system pushes her from bearable into totally ridiculous. No. 4: I have no criticism for this one, actually. It's just too priceless. No. 3: It's your fault for having too many resistances. No. 2: Literally just incredibly bad luck. I'm so so sorry. No. 1: Here's the thing - I didn't actually have any trouble with this boss fight. I was lucky enough to get Concentration on a demon and then Whisper it to my protag before that point. Add the fact that I had +4 Bufu already, and I was basically doing 400+ damage every turn. But I totally understand why this boss fight became so memetic. Minotaur is a goddamned powerhouse, and giving him Smirk does not help make the fight any easier. Your best bet against him will always be to power through him as quickly as possible, before Walter gets a chance to Fuck Everything Up or the Minotaur goes on a critical spree.

This isn't even remotely close to SMTBS... Real SMTBS is when you fight demi-fiend in DDS for half an hour andhis Titania heals him to his max HP.

How can anyone have access to accuracy buffs at such an early point in the game?
Tangata Manu has one. It's easy enough to fuse, or to recruit from Naraku Depth 3 if you grab the Demilingual app early.
I believe Harpy also has one and you can fuse one before meeting Minotaur if you have the right lineup. You cannot recruit Harpy from Naraku.

Lol, you must hate Mudo. Fortunately, in Digital Devil Saga there is the void death spell to prevent mudo.
I think every single game with Auto Skills has had a Skill that makes you immune to Mudo spells. They're not easy to get a hold of, though.
In Digital Devil Saga is actualy not automatic, but really easy to get.
Resist Mudo is a passive skill, while Void Mudo is a spell like Makarakarn, but only nullifies Death spells.
I also love how SMT4A handled light and dark. Does normal element damage, but insta kills if smirking.
There is also a skill called tetraja in most smt games tu nullify dark/light insta kill for a turn

All the Hama/Mudo moments make me VERY happy that Strange Journey Redux gives you both a skill to avoid game overs when the Protag dies AND armor that nulls both light and dark.

The funny thing is... I actually killed the Minotaur on my first try. How? Well... I thought that if I go too far into the game, my sidequests might be impossible to finish(it was my first SMT game). So... I grinded levels until I could beat the hordes and David. At this point... the Minotaur was a pushover. The Medusa tho... oh boy, that was a wild ride filled with party wipe combos from her...

No matter how unlikely you make it to land, it always could still hit. And then you get sent back 30+ minutes because the game's RNG said "no pass for you."

Neutral in IV is way less strict than people think it is, but it just does not do a good enough job at telling you what you need to do.
My responses to each moment.
No.10: Yeah, the insta-death spells are weird. Fun in your hands, irritating in the enemy's. It never feels like you have any way of defending against it unless you know in advance that you might go up against enemies with Hama or Mudo or whatever and equip yourself accordingly. And in blind runs, that usually means you have to die first.
No. 9: I am not somebody who has a lot of experience with Shin Megami Tensei, but I think I can safely say that IV's demon negotiations are the cruelest, most unforgiving thing in the whole goddamn series. It's like tightrope walking - slow, tense, and very likely to end in serious injuries even when you know what you're doing.
No. 8: Basically just what I said for 10.
No. 7: Again, what I said for 10, but with an additional point. David attacks you when you're weakened from the horde fight, and he's pretty damn tough too.
No. 6: You have a lovely singing voice.
No. 5: Elizabeth is an optional superboss. Of course she's gonna be a tough cookie. But Persona 3's One More system pushes her from bearable into totally ridiculous.
No. 4: I have no criticism for this one, actually. It's just too priceless.
No. 3: It's your fault for having too many resistances.
No. 2: Literally just incredibly bad luck. I'm so so sorry.
No. 1: Here's the thing - I didn't actually have any trouble with this boss fight. I was lucky enough to get Concentration on a demon and then Whisper it to my protag before that point. Add the fact that I had +4 Bufu already, and I was basically doing 400+ damage every turn. But I totally understand why this boss fight became so memetic. Minotaur is a goddamned powerhouse, and giving him Smirk does not help make the fight any easier. Your best bet against him will always be to power through him as quickly as possible, before Walter gets a chance to Fuck Everything Up or the Minotaur goes on a critical spree.
