Another great vid... 2 points worth mentioning guys. First only back off the tensioner bolt just enuf to remove the belt. If u remove the tensioner bolt all the way out it’s a bitch to thread back in. Second, what Bullet said about proper tension is correct. If the belts are too loose or too tight is gonna make noise. But for different reasons. Too loose, the belt is gonna slip in the pulley and squeal and eventually fail from the friction. Too tight is gonna stress the pulley bearings which will make a grinding noise and eventually fail. Also, brand new belts are gonna stretch a little bit for the first few miles so its a good idea to recheck the tension after driving a few hundred miles.
Adding on to what you're saying, removing the tensioner won't get you any more play in the alternator. Once you drop it back about 8 turns, the alternator bottoms out. The alternator belt is a tight fit, it seems like it won't go on, but once you line everything on, it just barely fits over the alternator pulley. I believe the tensioner bolt is 8mm, the large bolt on the alternator is 17mm and the rest were all 12mm. Its easier to get the belt on and off the bottom pulleys by just reaching under the car instead of trying to fish-around on top.
Thank you for showing which bolts are the ones to remove, some other videos did not show this detail and I wasn't sure which ones to remove, so thank you for that brother!
Regards. I went to buy an alternator for my 99 2.3 accord, and they sold me a 94-97 accord alternator and they changed the connector part and the cover of another honda alternator, the 2.2 honda alternators are the same as 80A today I will assemble it myself and see how it goes. I had problems for a long time with low voltage in my alternator and until my battery was damaged.
@@BulletSolano Thanks again for the video. I tried to test the blower motor resistor for 1998 Honda Accord and I am looking for specifications to measure the resistance. Do you have one?
@user-qp7se4mp4m If the resistance reading is zero, that means there is a short circuit and the blower motor is also defective. Finally, if the resistance reading falls within a certain range (usually between 1 and 20 ohms), then that means the blower motor is functioning properly
Both my belts just broke as soon as i got home . I notice my plastic cover that covers the engine camshaft the bottom plastic by the compressor crack it close to the compressor . Well this video help imma attempt to change it now
Took me an hour alternator gave me a little fight but video was very helpful . You save me a lot of money and also i have fun and pleasure of doing it myself . Thanks for making these videos
So I'm changing the timing belt on my 98 Accord LX and I watched another video after I had TDC all of the pulleys and strapped on the belt with everything TDC and I didn't tension the tensioner just yet but rotated the crankshaft one interval on that video ... It said that after that one rotation on the crankshaft when the belts were on and set to TDC when I cranked one interview the camshaft pulley was supposed to be TDC as well after that one rotation well it wasn't and it completely destroyed me after about 5 hours of putting in work I don't know what I'm doing wrong I was so frustrated I took off the belts again I have two questions can I rotate the crankshaft freely to set it top 10 zero as well as the camshaft when the belts are off and are all timing belts the same as far as how many teeth are on the belts
Thank you so much. My power steering belt is as tight as you shown, but it squeaks when I turn my wheel lock-to-lock, do you have any suggestions? There was no squeak before.
If I need to adjust my tension with the alternator after this process is completed. Can I use just the tension screw. Or do I have to loosen all the bolts on the alternator
I have a f23a not a f23a1 I can’t find a belt to fit. Right now I have the factory belt. Part number k040418 size 9/16” x 42-3/8”. It doesn’t fit. Any idea why? Is the crank different on a f23a from a f23a1?
Great video Bullet, I'm getting some alternator belt flutter on 2001 Honda Accord under load. The tension seems ok. Any idea on what would make this happen?
@@BulletSolano getting towed tomorrow and hopefully my mechanic can take care of it or tell me if it’s done for. The crankshaft pulley was sitting crooked and wiggly so

Nice video. One tip: Use a 1/2" socket wrench on the power steering pump to tension. There's a square fitting on the side of the pump for the wrench
Yea thanks bro I know about that but my brain freeze when I make the video

Thanks for your descriptive video. One quick question. My AC and alternator belt is loose, should a 10mm socket wrench be used to tighten the belt.

Question what is to the right of the alternator above from your windshield wiper fluid ? In my accord that's a open space
Thats the ABS system, Anti-lock Braking System
Same here

One question is normal that the crankshaft pulley should wobble a bit?
Yes it’s old, get a new one
Hey men do you know how to tighten the power steering high pressure line.
To 8 lbs-ft of torque
Thank you so much. My power steering belt is as tight as you shown, but it squeaks when I turn my wheel lock-to-lock, do you have any suggestions? There was no squeak before.
The belt is new?
Check it again because is too loose or too tight
Yes it is brand new
Ok if the rebound is about right get the belt tide just a little more and if it doesn’t work go the other way around
Chido el video pude cambiar mis bandas
Órale gracias
If I need to adjust my tension with the alternator after this process is completed. Can I use just the tension screw. Or do I have to loosen all the bolts on the alternator
You have to loose the bolts
Hey bullet thanks for the video! I’m about to do this on my accord as well.
If I don’t have a key bar what else can I use?
No problem, In the top of the power steering pump there is a hole to put a 1/2 inch ratchet next to the hose
Bullet Solano what would I do next?
The same way I use the bar just push upwards to tighten the belt
To put the alternator belt on, should I remove the wheel? Are the plastic cover between the tire and the crankshaft held by clips?
You don’t have to remove the tire you can do everything from the top
Whats the belts real name serpentine or powersteering belt?
A/C and Alternator belt
Or A/C, ALT and PS belts
Does the tire need to be turned or off the car when doing this?
You can turned it
How you feel about or have you ever try E 85 gas in your accord ?
Never tried before but maybe because is a good option
How much you think a timing belt job will cost for accord and have you done a video of that ?
I see some go to 300k or more, I don’t have a video about it but maybe I’ll make 1 and I charge 250 for 4 cyl and 350 for v6 on labor plus parts
Since i change that belt i thought i have the timing belt check . Wish you was in Florida but thanks that price not bad .
Ok bro
I have a f23a not a f23a1 I can’t find a belt to fit. Right now I have the factory belt. Part number k040418 size 9/16” x 42-3/8”. It doesn’t fit. Any idea why? Is the crank different on a f23a from a f23a1?
Yes is different size go to the dealer
Bullet Solano I ended up finding one. Thanks
Cool bro
love you! :)
How is call the part close to pole the one that has rubber
capharlock1 I don’t know what you talking about, motor mount?
Bullet Solano yes thanks I check already ,sorry for my English
capharlock1 that’s ok bro mine is not perfect too, no problem
Great video Bullet, I'm getting some alternator belt flutter on 2001 Honda Accord under load. The tension seems ok. Any idea on what would make this happen?
Thanks, maybe the bearing on the alternator
I think it might be the harmonic balancer. Have you ever replaced one?
No never
perfect
You didnt go under the car for the power steering belt?
Yes I did, check the video
@@BulletSolano so my power steering wheel is on the left side...its looking really different compared to my 2000 honda accord ex
On what car?
@@BulletSolano 2000 Honda Accord Ex V6 3.0L
If my power steering belt rips/breaks in the middle of the road, the car will not over heat right?
No just the steering wheel is gonna be hard to turn
Nice just did this tried to start my car and boom the the crankshaft pulley is fucked
Rip my accord
Sorry bro
@@BulletSolano getting towed tomorrow and hopefully my mechanic can take care of it or tell me if it’s done for. The crankshaft pulley was sitting crooked and wiggly so
Probably is just the pulley
