I grew up in central Illinois and we were kind of the demarcation for a few of the territories. Chicago was it's own thing, featuring a mixture of the AWA and WWA stars, at that time. The AWA might venture down for a spot show; but, it was rare. Bruiser came through once in a while, hitting Danville, Champaign, Peoria, and Springfield; but not consistently. The closest we got to regular matches was in the early 80s, when the Poffos promoted ICW and came to Springfield on a pretty steady basis, until the end, in 84. Prior to that, we had the WWA; but, it was the post-Heenan, post-Blackjacks; well, post just about everybody. Snyder and Bruiser still wrestled, occasionally, and Gerry Valiant wa still going, and there was Dr Jerry Graham Jr. The Great Wojo was green and doing the amateur in the pros schtick, but he couldn't talk to sell the match. Spike Huber was the big babyface, taking on Golden Boy Pul Christy, accompanied by Miss Bunny Love. We had their tv for a period of time, though not too long, before the Poffos came in, as bruiser wasn't travelling much outside of Indiana, anymore. A couple of years later, I found the WWA show on our cable system, from a Peoria station feed (we had the three networks form out local affiliates and the Peoria affiliates, on our early cable system) and it was really bad, with David McLane in full annoying mode, as the announcer. At least, in the previous period, we had Slammin' Sammy Menacker, who tended to monotone; but never grating.

In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Baron Von Raschke & Paul Jones were ranked at #2 in the Tag Team Division. Also, Jones was ranked at #3 in the Most Hated Wrestlers category.

Love Corney but this one of the worst shoots of all time.Baron is just too old to interview at this point.Alot of one word answers plus he can't remember any good stories or add to any of Cornettes talking points.Baron seems very uncomfortable and the interview just comes off as akward.I loved the beginning piece with commentary on Bruiser.Sadly i wish that the whole video would have been like that.
