The dub voice actor for sukuna is a legend. He's also the voice for cyclops in the new x men series.
He also voice dub tengen in demon slayer which is hard to believe but once you know you can hear it a little bit, he’s got such a wide range for his voice

its less the quality of the voice actors and more the quality of the voice director. some of those directors cannot direct for shit. the voice actors have to submit to the direction the voice directors give them
@@uncrstbl I'll agree that direction can make or break a dub, but if the VAs are talentless, the dub will be ruined no matter how well-directed it is. Both matter a lot, and both have improved drastically since the 90s.
This. Of course any performance or direction is allowed to be subject to criticism, but half the time it feels transparantly not about the performance or direction. It's just this feeling of discomfort from having to spend mental effort getting used to a new voice when you've been hearing a different one for years.
And look, I know I'm coming across as grandstandy but I've definitely been like this before too. When I'm hastey to call an english dub "less natural" I end up having to remind myself that no, real life japanese people do not sound like shonen battle protagonists when they talk, my mind is just filling in the gaps so it sounds more natural to me than it really is.

The English VA dips into a raspy malice, different angle, but still a hell of a performance.
Talking about CSM, it arguably has one of the best dubs ive heard in mordern times. Its not just Denji, but pretty much everyone in main cast killed it. The changes of the dialogue honestly it made it even better than the og at times

Watch solo levelling dub the VA for jinwoo went ABSOLUTELY CRAZY even puked blood but it goes hard and Denji in Chainsaw man goes insaine too and the VA for Goku DOES NOT MISS
This is the only anime where I switched back and forth and neither sounded off to me. Usually whichever I hear 1st or most often sounds right while the other sounds wrong.
If we’re doing Dub vs Sub, Naruto has an INCREDIBLE dub, possibly one of the best dub versions available (if not THE best, the best I’ve seen for sure)

Most people agree dub is great, but the truth is the sub is a couple steps ahead of ALL dubs . An english speaker saying that the english dub is better is just like a spanish speaker saying that the spanish dub is better. Because most people would rather watch anime in the language they understand the most. The fact that many people from different countries around the world who watch anime WILLINGLY watch it in Japanese, already tells you how good the original version actually is.

Naruto’s Pain and Madara Voice actors are absolutely flawless. I think the best dub moment of Actual NARUTO speaking is during the pain confrontation, which I don’t think you’ve reacted to yet, but it’s absolutely amazing. He doesn’t even sound like Naruto in the moment, just a downtrodden kid

6:07 newer anime is DEFINITELY doing better with dub. now more than ever, attention is paid toward the combination of matching lip movement COMBINED with having dialogue that actually feels natural and human. I've been seeing more anime lately that straight up just dont care about matching lip flaps (as they should, literally who cares), and it really just doesn't matter in terms of immersion-break. the expression in the moment and vocal performance are what matters, and i feel like studios have been catching onto this slowly over time.

that slight hint of sarcastic voice in japanese just makes it much better then english but english is really good too. Unlike how they trashed the dub of attack on titan or demon slayer.
Erwin's, Levi's and Kenny's Eng dub VAs were perfect especially Erwin's. Let's not talk about Demon slayer eng dub lol.

Dub Sukuna's voice was a lot more sassy in Season 1. Still a great performance in Season 2 but I do genuinely feel like it got a bit worse between seasons.

In fact, after watching the One Piece dub I started reading the manga and quickly noticed that the vast majority of dialogue matches the manga almost perfectly. Dubs really don’t get enough respect these days for the work they put in. It was refreshing to see someone give dubs the respect they deserve in this vid instead of blindly hating. 👍🏻

If you like Ray Chase’s performance here you should check out the horror movie Malignant it’s a pretty crazy movie but watching it for Ray Chase’s performance as Gabriel is worth it,he does a similar voice as Gabriel that he did as Sukuna.

@@jewellchastain4244Agreed! I’m super fond of the dub, especially with Ray Chase. His role as Sukuna made him one of my favorite VAs. Sadly he’s not in a lot of things I watch so I have to keep a lookout for things he’s in. I wish people would be more kind to the VAs, they always do their best and there’s a lot of things that can go wrong with production that most people aren’t privy to, especially with dubs.

If you haven’t then Ray Chase is in it but only for 6 episodes and those 6 episodes are amazing and make his character one of my favorites so even if you don’t want to watch all of One Piece at least watch episodes 700-706 and who knows if you haven’t already watched One Piece these episodes might make you want to.
Solo leveling dub arise scene.... I love it
Dubs and subs have been on par for over a decade now. The quality of both is essentially the same 95% of the time. You can even have some where the dub is better than the sub too, like with DBZ and Super. This isn't a new occurance either. We've had good dubs going way back, it was just harder to find them prior to around 2010. You can go back to pre 2010 too, and find Cowboy Bebop for example, or FMA Brotherhood and they've held up amazingly.
There are long running characters who've gotten way better in dub too, like, I cannot stand early Luffy in OnePiece, but nowadays the va has settled in and it's much less irritating. Naruto I'm completely fine with once he reaches The end of Naruto going into Shippuden.
What you watch for anime, seriously does just come down to personal preference nowadays. Scripts are usually as close to a 1:1 as you can get(if the localizers dont go overboard, which happens sometimes, like with Dragonmaid).
I tend to watch sub and dub when I can. I prefer dub, since it allows multitasking, and I don't have to stare at the screen the whole time not to miss anything. I've watched all of JoJo's in sub(Mainly because nothing touches the wacky Engrish and DIO in sub) but, I went through again and watched it all in English too, and the whole cast does a great job. I did the same with Chainsaw Man too, and that was fantastic in both languages as well. I'm currently watching back through the JJK dub now, and enjoying every minute of it. There's some quirks, and also voices I prefer more in Sub, but nothing is bad. The worst it gets is them essentially changing the way Geto's name is pronounced, but you get over it after a bit. It was to avoid it sounding too much like ghetto, which I feel was a pointless change, but whatever! Sub and dub are both amazing, and it's best to appreciate both when possible.

6:14 dude you have to see the Chainsaw Man dub. At least certain scenes. Keep in mind for the Crunchy Roll Awards Denji’s VA won the dub award for like 6 different languages, including English. Plus some memeable scenes in Spanish, or just Himeno in English 😂

I typically watch shows dubbed. At least the first time through. I like being able to focus on the artwork of the show so dubs help me with that. But there are a few shows that the dubs are done incredibly well and JJK is one of them. The one exception in the show is Nanami’s dub for when he’s fighting Shigemo. It didn’t translate well.

Dub sukuna is so good and I think a lot of other characters have good dub voices I can’t wait for you to watch stuff dub because it isn’t bad. I’m mainly a dub watcher. I challenge you to watch a show you’ve never watched but you have to watch it dubbed from the beginning it will honestly change your mind. Then watch it subbed after a few episodes and it will feel weird

gaara speech b4 the war is really good in dub, pain and madara voices are good throughout the dub, i will agree with you on hating naruto's dub voice... Lots of ppl love it, it just sounds grating to me, you can bring all the acting chops u want but if the voice doesn't sound good in the ear (regardless of the emotional intonation being inferred by the actor) it just kills the whole thing.
tbh I think I like the dub more in terms of that I can get a better grasp on his emotions with it

Gojo is better in dub and Sukuna is better in sub imo. All are incredible though

Gojo's dub has a good tone of crazy and weird, and the sub has an amazing cocky tone. But in my opinion, the dub and sub are equally as good.

Most dubs are really good, and I prefer to watch dub most of the time, unless its just completely unwatchable, but for me there are only a few that fit that description. There are also some dogshxt subs as well. With that said, objectively, case by case, there will always be one that is better than the other, that's just how it goes, but, subjectively and personally, whichever one you enjoy them most is the best to you, and that is all that matters. The sub v dub war is crazy right now, its as heated as republicans vs democrats, so many people refuse to just agree to disagree and respect eachothers opinions, then throw shade and hate on anyone who has a differing opinion. Thankfully, for the most part this community is pretty respectful since it isn't full of 16 year olds with a grudge against the world.

Dub isn't that bad 90% of the time, it's just people overreacting. I usually watch shows in both dub and sub to see what version I prefer more and just stick with that for the rest of the viewing experience. Unfortunately, I've always watched JJK weekly so I never had the opportunity of hearing the dub version until now, but it's really good! I might have to rewatch the show in dub now
