Great series! I’m enjoying every minute. One thing though, there was once a western tributary of the Nile that linked Lake Chad to the Nile Valley. I have been told that it was called the Yellow Nile. It’s presence could explain why smaller and more docile West African crocodiles were prevalent in the Nile and were mummified as the deity Sobek and NOT the larger Nile crocodile indigenous to East Africa. I have not confirmed the name, but I have seen with my own eyes the dried river beds snaking westward across the Sahara from Egypt as I flew over outside of Giza. When the western tributaries dried up I do not know, but they were once there. We also know that the Sahara was lush and green up until about 6,000 BCE. So the Lake Chad region would have been a center of great prosperity in Neolithic and protodynastic times.
Exactly People often forget about the Sahara was a green fertile land with elephants and giraffes there. You’re on point with the Yellow Nile, but I didn’t mention it. Mainly since Davidson doesn’t say anything about it. However in my next show I’ll say something about it before moving on. Thanks again
@@kingcamsujumbepodcast Thank You for responding. I just ordered Davidson’s book btw so I can delve deeper into this. Also, have you heard of Lam’s “Les Chemins du Nil” (“The Paths of the Nile”)? The author is a West African scholar from Mali or Senegal, I believe. He goes into great detail about the various ethnic groups and their migrations out of the Nile Valley into West Africa, but his publications have not been translated into English. I have the book, but my French is so poor that reading it for me is painfully slow and laborious. I hope to use AI to speed up the process at some point, but have not yet. Please keep the knowledge coming. We need to explode your viewer numbers.
@@kingcamsujumbepodcast Absolutely! Thank you for the sub. I need to be uploading more content. Working on that. I subscribed to your channel too, btw.
