Here's some characters I think should have been in this game: King, Blue Mary, May Lee, Whip, B. Jenet, Hotaru, Kasumi, Shiki, Iroha, Akari, Hibiki, Fio, Rosa, Kisarah, Ryoko, and Yuki (Kyo's girl).
It is kind of absurd that the game sticks almost entirely with KOFXIV characters. It might have made a bit of sense as a money saving effort, except they went through the effort of making multiple non-KOFXIV outfits for everyone, the simplified combat system means they need much less animation to add a non-KOFXIV character, the mechanics changes mean that even KOFXIV "balance" is a non-factor, and they even recorded additional voice sets. Yet everyone except Shermie and Midnight Bliss Terry (and DLC character Arthur) is a KOFXIV character. (And Terry is a KOFXIV character as well, though with a new model.)
Not to mention not every girl from KOF XIV made it into this game. If they were only going to include girls from KOF XIV, why not just include all of them?
All I'm going to say is imagine Iori was put into this story in his Miss X gear, and suddenly had to pretend to be all mysterious, and Terry was the only one who didn't realize who "she" was.

The endings actually do have to do with the tournament. This game is technically canon. The whole game is a dream your character is having. Their ending is when they wake up.
Woolie didnt play any of the Samurai Shodown games did he? ive looked at old "all executions" videos and Nakoruru can die, she can be totally killed and decapped. nobody got special treatment in those, not even in that one bad 3d game they played that one time.
Technically, in 3 and 4, she and Rimururu were excluded from being decapped, because they coded it that way. Either probably because it feels wrong to do it to both of them or some other reason. Either way, its only in 1, 2, 5 Special, and in Sen (unsure about both NG64 SS's and other SS games) that she can be decapped (and Rimu in 5SP and Sen as well).
3 was one of the popular ones, and thus one he most likely played, so it's totally fair to assume it was a universal rule. Stop looking for an excuse to get worked up.
