The thinning really accelerated after the sudden death of my husband and I decided to try a Paula Young wig. Had a thought Beth … have they ever considered including an ‘out of the box’ shot when they are doing their photo shoots? And include that with their stock photos of the wig on their sales site? I would love that! It lets me know not to be disheartened when we first take our wig out and it looks NOTHING like the stock pics. So many customers are shocked by what we get, if only they let us know that it WILL BE BEAUTIFUL. And here are the pics that show us that! Plus they need to rethink the models, most are quite young (less than 40-50) and we know that the good proportion of customers are 50+. I’m 67 and def not ready to look like a granny! Which is a huge reason why I love my wigs ❤️
That's a great idea, I'll definitely pass it along. 😊👍 I can tell you from the experience of being there, they really don't do much to the wigs out of the box, they really try to keep it as close to out of the box as possible. Of course they comb or brush it into place but for the most part it's pretty true to out of the box. On my channel I like to film the unboxing so that viewers do get a good look at the wig out of the box. I don't do that all the time now but I did it in all of my older videos, so hopefully that helps! I always want to encourage my wig sisters to have fun with their wigs and don't be afraid to style them in a way that suits their tastes! 💖 I will also pass along the idea of more mature models, I think that would be nice too! I always thought your wigs were your hair!! ❤ I don't need a wig, I always just loved your personality!!

You're right, it really was such a cool experience to see how it all works for the catalog photoshoot behind the scenes, it's a long day and a lot of work but really fun also! ... so, yes, Paula Young is a real person. She started as a third party retailer selling wigs out of her garage in MA in the 70s. She sold the company which is now a division of Specialty Commerce but they kept her name as she had developed quite a following. She and her husband were invited to the company headquarters a number of years ago and they were really impressed with everything! Very cool! 💖💖😊😊

The majority of my wigs have been from Paula Young since I started my wig journey in 2019 and I've always wondered about that! I think its a great company with affordable excellent quality pieces, even with the high Canadian exchange rate I have to pay. I've always been happy with everything I've ordered and never had any returns. 😊

@@BethsBestHair I do have a question on the wig grip cap. Do it make your head warmer or do you not notice a difference? I have not worn one as all too often I have sweat rolling down my head.... not comfortable. People ask as to how hot a wig is and I just say it's like wearing a ski cap year 'round.
@@lindamyers8475 I personally prefer the grip cap as it keeps the wig from touching my scalp so to me it's more comfortable. I also keep my bio hair buzzed so I am not hot, and I work in air conditioning so it's usually quite cool in my office.
What a wonderful experience for you! Congratulations Beth! I do have a question for you. How do you deal with going through security for airplane travel, dentist & Dr visits or any potential “oopsie” that may have caused embarrassment while wearing wigs. I have a few wigs but must now start wearing full time as my alopecia has really gotten bad. Thanks for your input. 🩷 your channel! 🤗
Thank you Jane, it really was such a cool experience! 🥰 in answer to your question, I’ve never had any problems going through security at the airport while wearing a wig. It’s never been an issue. I wear a wig daily to work, to the dentist, to the eye doctor, to my doctor, to the chiropractor (I told him as he was adjusting my neck and back) and no issues or awkwardness whatsoever. One time I had to have an MRI and that was the only time I had to remove my wig because they put a cap on my head. But it wasn’t awkward, she was super nice. 🩷🤗🩷
Just to add to what Beth said, in a situation where there could be "an embarrassing moment" I just say "if my hair falls off it's not your fault". They will look at me for a a few seconds and ask "is that a wig?? I would never have guessed!" In 38 years of wearing Paula Young wigs I have never had anyone make me feel bad or insecure about it. Good luck, you will find that "shake and wear hair" has some real advantages like never have a bad hair day, lol.
Sadly I have had horrible situations using Paula You many times. Either the wigs didn't come to me in the mail or the wig doesn't look even close to what is in the magazine. 😢Never again.
Ohhh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! 😢 On my channel I have a lot of videos where I unbox the wigs and try them on so you see them exactly as they come. You're right, it really was such a cool experience to see how it all works for the catalog photoshoot behind the scenes, it's a long day and a lot of work but really fun also! ... so, yes, Paula Young is a real person. She started as a third party retailer selling wigs out of her garage in MA in the 70s. She sold the company which is now a division of Specialty Commerce but they kept her name as she had developed quite a following. She and her husband were invited to the company headquarters a number of years ago and they were really impressed with everything! Very cool! 💖💖😊😊

The majority of my wigs have been from Paula Young since I started my wig journey in 2019 and I've always wondered about that! I think its a great company with affordable excellent quality pieces, even with the high Canadian exchange rate I have to pay. I've always been happy with everything I've ordered and never had any returns. 😊

@@BethsBestHair I do have a question on the wig grip cap. Do it make your head warmer or do you not notice a difference? I have not worn one as all too often I have sweat rolling down my head.... not comfortable. People ask as to how hot a wig is and I just say it's like wearing a ski cap year 'round.
@@lindamyers8475 I personally prefer the grip cap as it keeps the wig from touching my scalp so to me it's more comfortable. I also keep my bio hair buzzed so I am not hot, and I work in air conditioning so it's usually quite cool in my office.

What a wonderful experience for you! Congratulations Beth! I do have a question for you. How do you deal with going through security for airplane travel, dentist & Dr visits or any potential “oopsie” that may have caused embarrassment while wearing wigs. I have a few wigs but must now start wearing full time as my alopecia has really gotten bad. Thanks for your input. 🩷 your channel! 🤗
Thank you Jane, it really was such a cool experience! 🥰 in answer to your question, I’ve never had any problems going through security at the airport while wearing a wig. It’s never been an issue. I wear a wig daily to work, to the dentist, to the eye doctor, to my doctor, to the chiropractor (I told him as he was adjusting my neck and back) and no issues or awkwardness whatsoever. One time I had to have an MRI and that was the only time I had to remove my wig because they put a cap on my head. But it wasn’t awkward, she was super nice. 🩷🤗🩷
Just to add to what Beth said, in a situation where there could be "an embarrassing moment" I just say "if my hair falls off it's not your fault". They will look at me for a a few seconds and ask "is that a wig?? I would never have guessed!" In 38 years of wearing Paula Young wigs I have never had anyone make me feel bad or insecure about it. Good luck, you will find that "shake and wear hair" has some real advantages like never have a bad hair day, lol.
Sadly I have had horrible situations using Paula You many times. Either the wigs didn't come to me in the mail or the wig doesn't look even close to what is in the magazine. 😢Never again.
Ohhh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! 😢 On my channel I have a lot of videos where I unbox the wigs and try them on so you see them exactly as they come. Then I show you how to modify it a bit to style it so you enjoy wearing it. Maybe check out some of my older videos and see if that helps dear. (((hugs))) 💜💜💜
