  • The new lv6548v also has an idle consumption of around 110 w
so I believe it has more to do with the components the manufacturer voltronic is using.

The idle draw is crazy but you just need 2x 400 watt panels to fix that. $300 if you bought all your solar together. Also the eg4 is made for a big setup, 10kwh battery is the minimum i would use on that 200 watt idle.😢

It's the fans and their curve im pretty sure, which at the end of the day is probably worth it... Keeping lower internal temps of the internals is critical for longevity, I also suspect that the different MPPT board for the solar plays a part as the components on the main board are rated differently and likely have a higher loss

      Its not the fans mate.

well you can get a victron multiplus II 8000 wich is also 6500w low frequency inverter and it says it pull around 30w but it cost as both units you have there

And the Victron will still be going in 15 years.

@@kevinmills5293 well I don't know about that. after I got my multiplus I had a discussion with a distributor and he told me that he got couple of faulty units around 5 to 7 years in service. I hope mine wouldn't give up so early, otherwise he will not pay for it self

@@EpicHardware I’ve had a Quattro 5000 for 15 years now and it has run continuously and has never missed a beat. I also have other Victron gear and it’s all performed flawlessly.

@@EpicHardware I’m still using the Quattro. If I was starting again, I would go for the 48V version only because the solar charge controllers could have been smaller (less expensive) for the same power.

i have a GK mppt pip with a ST5000 /120/240 i thank will see how much it uses

I have a solark12 K that pulls 1.3 A. What’s the big deal? Install two or three more panels and you’ll be OK.

Sure, but in reality, living off the grid during multiple cloudy days an extra 50 wats or 100w in a 240v setup, it is very noticeable.
Also, if the specs say 70w
And tested it is closer to 120w there is an issue.

EG4 6500EX-48 draws more current in order to run its damn loud fans...

    • @SunInLithium
      @SunInLithium  ปีที่แล้ว +2

That may be the case for some of the usage. but without the ac output on, the inver pulls around 30w with the fans still on. so the remaining 70 watts or so need to be consumed, some where else.

@@SunInLithium yeah, it’s a cheap communist China sourced junk inverter, just like everything else in greedy corrupt USA. Produces high profits so CEO’s, family and their brown-nosing suits can fly around with their side chicks in the tax-deductible company jets.

Cheap fans and cheap in-efficient electronics. That is also why there is a voltage drop when switching modes.
