I discovered you a few days back and I have to say superb content! With your great sense of humour and quality material your videos should have 10x the views they got so far! Love your videos on crop dusting and the Lukla approach and departure!

Hey Jimbo, you popped up quite randomly and I’m just addicted to your serene, other-worldly vids... I’m near London UK and 25 years of big jets has given way to flying my own tiddler around and it’s bliss! You’re awesome and I just love that dry Kiwi matter of fact delivery. 👍🏻🤩

I've come to watch this video on the recommendation of an Air NZ Deamliner Captain. He said you make really good decisions that PPL can learn from.

Magnificent video. That weather reminded me of my X-country up the Stratford gap against a stiff head wind and decreasing ceiling and rising ground. I turned back. And another occasion my flight CFI chewed me out for not taking off out of Harewood when the pylons nearby penetrated the cloud-base. I was only VFR and low time. My yellow streak prevailed - still got told off. I am comforted to see the conditions in your video and how you judged them - I am not alone.

I used to drive for Sandford transport. I was delivering to a bin that Wanganui Aero was flying out of, I got the chance to go up in a cresco. I have to say they are a bit of kit, the power delivery is quite impressive. Hands down the best flying experience I have ever had, would love to go up in 1 again before I end up 6 feet under :)

That was bloody cool video. I fly microlights and have a flight from feilding to omaka so this flight was very informative thanks. And liked your map skills and decision making for bad weather.

Hey awesome video, very entertaining. Great decision making and good idea about turning towards the coast when approaching that rain. We don't fly gliders in that sort of weather very often, but occasionally we have a rain band to deal with or cloud on the ridge, that's a good strategy to use. Cheers

Loved watching this video as I used to fly that area about 40 years ago. As I cranky old Pilot I can only pick you up on one thing I used to get my arse kicked for and that's not switching the TP back to standby when changing codes. I am glad the 200 feet agl hard under cloud down the beach days are behind me.

@James Howes : In the early 1970's I worked at Dunedin airport. Early one morning we could clearly hear the Tower "ream out" the pilot of an Ag Wagon because he had left it idling on the apron while he bought a drink in the terminal. The conversation that followed was largely unrepeatable... probably closer to what you were thinking of? 😉

Wow, that was a crazy flight! Yes, always pack skivvies and a toothbrush. :D
That said, I found you via Facebook, where someone had posted a twin Otter which initiated a go-around at Lukla; in the comments was a link you had posted of your video flying in to Lukla. Too blurry, I decided to see if you were on TH-cam, and here I am!
Loved your narrative. As a Yank private pilot, I appreciated your commentary about always leaving yourself an out, and then executing that out...
You Kiwis have some beautiful--and unforgiving--terrain. I wish the ship on which I served back in the day, would have visited NZ. Seems to be quite a beautiful place. We stopped in Darwin, and Tonga, but bypassed NZ--back in 1978. Have a great day! Jim

"I might have to consider an Off-Field landing":
Typical General Aviation pilot: Heart rate increases, breathes faster, beads of perspiration appear on brow, voice goes up an octave, testes do a full retract!
Ag pilot: YeeHaawww! Back where I belong! Relaxes. 😄 👍

Giddy mate. You couldn't have put a video together any better, with the charts, audio, metservice radar... I work for a Ag Chopper co. in Northland, and I'm a Novice microlight pilot. Would love to have a yarn with ya sometime. (Oh and our family farms airstrip you would love... 800m long! )

    • @lucasmarsich6503
      @lucasmarsich6503 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Ps (saw you marking ag strips... I know a guy at North Shore Airport that has come up with a map layer on our Air Charts... of all farm airstrips in NZ. Fascinating how he did it with a computer program using NZ Topo data)

21:20 "Aahh... I don't like that we are getting lower and lower here"
Not a statement you will hear too often from a guy who thinks a good day at work is finding a bunch of perk carrots in the undercart when he gets back to base! 😉

Hey mate. Most Crescos are on Ag ops. Plenty of XLs around doing a variety of roles around the world - Skydiving, cargo, pax, ag, firebombing. Have a yarn to a few operators and you never know what may come of it!
