Excellent walk through. For other pilots: Note how he achieves steep turns by trading speed and altitude for turn radius. The steepness is achieved by a hell of a roll but note that the wings are unloaded for the steepest part of the turn which is why it is possible without stalling the aircraft, as the trade off is loss of height rather than the same height at a high AoA. Excellent piloting and also note stick is back in his lap on touchdown. A lot of skills there!
Just spotted the opening clip of this on '3 Minutes of Aviation' channel in a video from 3 months back. I knew it was you as soon as it started playing.
@@jppjames Yeah,.. Last 12 years in many countries and europe too they have copilots with only 200 hours mostly on simulator, only 18 years old, and only around 30 hours flying solo. Some can be a good pilot even at 18.
Great bit of content. Though I'm going to love sharing this with my foreign mates for the accent and slang. Such a beautiful summation of kiwi English. 😁👍
I wish I had seen this video like 30 years ago - my life would have been completely different - I would have dedicated my life to doing this for a living. Put simply this is f#@king amazing!!! Thanks for the video (at least I can live vicariously through this). As a glider pilot, I truly appreciate the sharp turns, great visibility, land uphill with a tail wind, but make sure you have a down hill and head wind when taking off with that load. . I am going to adopt your terminology: "stir the porridge"... really cool. . Thanks for the video.

very nice now interested in that plane design and any latest variants, would be nice to affix a gopro on the under carriage looking back at the fert drop
It's an OK job I suppose sedately flying over hills and valleys in less than perfect viz, with the misguided hope that sun may shine. Great videos, mixing, informative even entertaining 😉👏
Awesome mahi Jimbo massive vids..my close friend was a top dressing Pilot pioneer from Thames ..Fred Sawyer iwned a fleet of fletchers ..Thank you for sharing mate 🙌💞
Thanks for vids Sir. Any insane hill work videos showing the pulling up from hillsides?. What is the load capacity please?. I had a mate spread a neighbors farm by mistake due to the truck driver dumping fert on wrong property which was pretty funny. Cheers and thanks?.
That's what i call a real flying, man you one pilot, which part of North Island is this in New Zealand. I would love to give it a try in Xplane or New Microsoft Flight simulator.
That was a fantastic video! It’s interesting to see just what the pilot’s up to at various points. You mentioned this machine had the weird buffet when the hopper lid was flapping - which rego was it?
Jim, I've been talking to you for a while. Finally doing my RPC and PL in Aus. Your incredible mate. Listen, what is your engine fail contingency and glide ratio of the aircraft your in? I would assume you immediately dump load? Keep up these video mate.
02:58 That is a Teardrop Turnback you are doing. But.. i think it could be safer if you extend the first leg a bit further so you dont have to do the second leg at 90 degree bank steep. AS a CFI of Bush Pilots, I taught them on GRM and EFATO. Turnback errors are the main cause of Crop Dusters stalls and fatal crashes.. Cheers from Pennsylvania USA.
Hi victor, you are all over lately. Remember to do the first leg towards tailwind side, then 2nd leg with a headwind and 45 degree bank. Much safer and quicker too..
@@JimboBurgess awesome Jimbo yes it's beautiful up there my home Kawhia but reside in Hawkes Bay ..I use to go for rides with a pilot Paul Beard from Robertson Air Service Ltd was cool to back in the 70s he had a 300 Fletcher's back then ..Thank you Jimbo truely awesome video,s .. 🙏♥️
Amazing video. Though i wanna ask 2 things 1. Why does the pilot sit on the right side? Is it for convinence or its a design feature of this aircraft? 2. Why does the pilot require a full helmet rather than just a headset? I have a curious mind, hope you don't mind answering it 😅
Cheers! Great questions, keep em coming 😁 We sit in the right seat because the controls are in a natural position. Joystick RH, power and hopper control LH. This is a dual control version, in singles the pilot's setup is on the LH side. Helmets are a safety measure and in most cases a requirement for insurance.
@@JimboBurgess Can understand this with the aircraft becoming a thoroughly well-known reliable and trusted 'friend', even so it would take courage to do this type of flying. Flew 100's of hours as a boy next to my father much of it in C180 BUF (AkldAeroClub weekend CPL ex-WW11 B24 pilot) and he was always '100% working' with short and grass strip landings let alone sealed runways. He let me 'fly' straight and level to compass headings, steady attitude and altitude, but never landings . .

Hi ... how to make apply pilot in your company ? Is it possible...?
Every 2 minutes a Landing?
Wow what a fun ride. How many Gs are you pulling here?
Sure is fun! We try to keep the Gs low, 2-3Gs id the norm 👍
Is this ever done via muscle memory, or is each and every single run done with 100% concentration as if it were the first time?
It gets easier with time and good practice 😎
