Anneke comments: “For the new album I wrote a lot of songs filled with messages of love and heartache, but I also went on a more propulsive journey, with darker storytelling. The percussive opening groove of ‘Hurricane’ is maintained until a slightly ominous middle section. The track closes with heavy drums and a glorious trumpet solo.”

For me, an indicator of the level of musicians and singers has always been concert recordings, how different they were from studio albums. Annekе has excellent vocals, regardless of the conditions, fatigue, day or night. She is an exceptional professional, possessing a unique, delicate timbre and simply excellent command of her voice, a level inaccessible to 99 percent of vocalists. It is unlikely that now you can find something even remotely reminiscent of her abilities; for me she was and remains an icon of an incredible combination of perfect vocals, the highest professionalism and purely feminine beauty. An absolutely luminous creation, bright, enthusiastic and kind, incredibly attractive and beautiful.
She always smiles, and i love her for that, she seems like she loves what she's doing, and we all love it too. So glad i discovered Anneke

IMO Everything Anneke’s done from The Gathering, working with Devin Townsend, to her solo music, is just incredible. She’s like a modern day Siren minus the wrecks!

I followed her shortly after hearing those ball-busting vocals with DT, that's what put her on my map initially, and have just been routinely blown away since. Goddamn is she talented.

O my God!!!! Hearing this for the first time. After 5 seconds all my hairs standing straight up ( although I don't have so many anymore 😂). Goosebumps! The overall sound quality, the band, the melody, the emotion, and last but not least, the warmth radiating from gorgeous Anneke with that infectious smile and fantastic voice. Let's face it. We all get older. The point is: how to get older in a gracious way and keep on growing. Anneke is in my eyes the prime example of how to do that. She gets more beautiful by the years and her voice and music......mindblowing. When she was young they called her "Tinkerbel". And she was. Nowadays she is the Mother of all metal singers. And that, for sure, is a title to be proud of as well. Anneke, you have my deepest respect. Your singing adds years to my lifetime expectation....it adds so much joyfullness. The most amazing about you: you remain yourself. Humble, humorous, not afraid to make a joke about yourself in front of public. Coming from the music industry myself I recognize greatness in that. Only the biggest artists of them all are like that. They don't have to proof anything anymore. They reached the top level and don't have to pretent. They are good as they are. Welcome to the highest possible platform. A warm greeting from the Netherlands.

@@MrScrofulous good song, I dind't know that band, I found it very interesting. Yet is the opposite of what I posted. In your link the first thing that opens the song is an electric guitar followed by full drums and then leading to a full band chorus with, that's right... ELECTRIC distorted guitars with a lead guitar playing a constand phrase... then comes the MUSE /like slightly overdriven bass line (BTW very badass bass line) along with the trumpet arrangement and more electric guitars and full intense drums... My point is that, your song is very badass but I'm amazed Anneke pull all that out (the emotion and power) without a single distorted "INYOURFACE GUITAR" (actually there's a little electric guitar there at 2:40 but that's all) and that my friend, THAT IS AWESOME!!

I really like TBE. That whole album is magic. Sadly, Clint Boge, the singer, destroyed his voice, and they ended up breaking up.
Her music evolves in a great way! Her solo albums were mostly pop-rock sounding but this record is going to be a progressive-acoustic album. So hyped!

I was fortunate to see her performing with The Gathering at the Key Club in Los Angeles several years ago. It was general admission, so I made my way to the front row, right below her. Her voice, the way she smiled while singing, everything was pure magic. The band was great, but I really couldn't stop watching HER performance. It was mesmerizing. There, I found the word I was looking for.
Mesmerizing for sure. I saw Anneke in 2019 when she toured the US with Amorphis. My wife and I were right up front, and Anneke just radiates on stage. Fantastic acoustic gig and she sang Amongst Star with Amorphis.
