Bro showed exactly why we have directions on bottled water….
Step 1: destroy your reusable filter with a screwdriver
There’s a bottle of cleaner that k&n sells that you spray after removing dirt but before rinsing it with water to thoroughly clean it then dry then spray on oil
Bruh had my AirPods in and the hammering scared tf out of me
I'm sorry man
Bro foreal. I'm thinking who tf is hammering right outside of my view....INSIDE MY HOUSE! Lol
I get that way playing mw2 The grenades Shake the doors and metal doors slam and it’s scary
Thought someone was blowin in the background 😂
K&n filters last for so long. 40k+ miles only cleaned 4 times.
Do yourself a favor and not apply as much oil as he did. That’s a bad time waiting to happen
@@imoffendedthatyouareoffendedhe didn’t apply that much oil. He actually didn’t put enough oil. I use more than he did and no problems
@@1987Miketysonbro didn’t even clean it with the K&N recharge kit which comes with their own cleaner then your rinse and oil once dry to make it look like it was brand new again
Bro just read you the instructions on the K&N box's instructions on how to clean the filter.. damn we really are devolving
Believe it or not, some people buy used cars which may mean they didn’t have the box…
Yeah, like me I bought a vehicle with an aftermarket air filter and I have no idea how to fix it. People just want to be full of themselves and leave witty remarks so they can feel better about themselves. I genuinely didn’t know how to clean this air filter.
@@tdoto yup I had to see how you clean it I bought my truck with a K&N filter I don’t have the box
@@tdotoprobably the intructions are in the main website
Lost me at screwdriver.
Your vehicle has got to be turboed the way the air filter looked to have went in on itself
Some K&N filters have a weak structure, iv had some k&ns do that to me and im NA.
This video is wrong! You need to use the proper filter cleaner don't just rinse with water.
Thanks for the advise
I'll add it to the description
It's best to use the filter cleaner. But also soap and water works also. Just more physical work with soap and water
Right that filter still dirty as hell
I agree, I mean you could? But if you want actual “ results “ gotta do it correctly.
Bro man the kit has the cleaning solution you suppose to spray and rinse off then dry then oil then sit for a bit then install and vroom vroooom
Thanks for the tip
@@alinetskyi anytime bro💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
What happens if I don't use the oil spray after rinsing? Is it bad?
@@saltygorilla9285 the oil is supposed to help trap any dirt and debris to the filter until your able to clean it again so not sure if it’s mandatory that you oil it but you should for the longevity of the product and use of it also.
i got a k&n kit that came w degreaser. you would put that on before u clean it w the hose
Use hot water and mean green. Soak for 5 mins then blowout water with compressed air.. oil it re install it
Proper thing to do with a k&n Airfilter is to toss it in the trash after spraying it with water….wouldnt want some other sucker making the same mistake of putting it on their car.
I don’t understand the oiling part what does that do? Seems like it would just take up passage channels for air
It captures the small particles coming in. Without oil all the fine dirt and dust will go right through due to being high air flow.
some filters dont require oil
Wow!!! Thank you!
❤️
I did this to my carbureted bike, but I did not let it dry before I went and used it. Do you think I’m OK?
Me be like presser washer
I heard from mechanics the oil spray damages the MAF and MAP sensors from K&N
Not sure, my car has had it for over a year, still working fine
Only if you spray A LOT you shouldn’t have it to where it’s soaked in it, just lightly coated in oil
Yeah it messed mine up I sprayed it a little too much to the point it leaks out and turns my check engine on I’m gonna rewatch it and do less this time
With my car specifically, the intake was designed to take a filter without oil because my maf sensor could be damaged by it. Unfortunately my maf sensor is 800 & theres two types its a 50/50 chance you get the right one cuz no one will help you find out which ones the right one + no returns once youve attempted to try it out
That’ll only happen if you apply too much oil. You’re only supposed to apply the outside of the filter. And let it soak in for 20min
Wait there was 6 steps? So the drying took like 8 mins?
U should put something over that cut
Are you serious scraping with a screwdriver 😂step two wash 🧼 with Comet and rinse with bleach
You know what works better? Buying a new one
Don’t listen to this guy
Song ?
with just watching on step 1, you are already wasting everyones time. Lmao
I would stay away from those rubber ends air filters, my injen intake came with one of those rubbers ends. when I took it off to clean on the end was wide open lol like not filtering air at all. I bought an spectre filter with metal end from now on no more rubber filter ends for me, wondering how long was the filter like that, hope not that long.
Thats how not to clean the filter 🤣
you are definitely the hateful one
Can i clean paper air filters like this too?
Absolutely not, they are one time use only
at that point might as well buy another filter
What happened to the actual cleaning stage. Not bright are we
What if u don’t oil it at the end
Then car dies
If the filter is this bad just buy a new one and dont let it get this bad again 👍🏼 and he didn’t put no cleaning solution on the filter before rinsing or let the oil wick in for 20-30 minutes before installing back in car just wait like an hour you dont want your maf to start acting up
New one cost 10 dollars smfh
That would be great, but it costs 50$ new. It's a normal practice to clean these. K&N provide their cleaning kit for these purposes. Know your facts before commenting.
@@alinetskyi kinda hypocritical when your video is incorrect as well. You have to use their k&N cleaner and oil to do it properly
@@Pretyboyflako1 I pinned the comment with these corrections.
Just put on a filter sock
Dirty af before his cleaning and dirty af after his cleaning. Waisted time and effort
Its cotton material isn't it? Why not just rinse it and get the gunk out and chuck it in a washing machine and fabric conditioner? And then spray oil at the end.
That’s the dirtiest, blackest filter I’ve ever seen, nice chunks too, these cars don’t run on charcoal my friend.
Just get a new filter…guys take care of your cars they take care of you
this is how NOT to clean a k&n filter😖
Step 1: buy a new one
Oh no it's supposed to be a nice redish color if done correctly i dont see that here
Wrong
I never re-oil my filters. I feel like all it does is allow the debris to stick to it and clog the filter even more.
Smaller particles get stuck in the oil preventing them from getting into the engine
@@Limes_Taste_Good which also glogs up the filter restricting your air flow
@@jrmcdaniel9729 better to clean the filter than let it get in the engine
@@jrmcdaniel9729 with that logic just fuck the filter put a stack on the ride
@@Limes_Taste_Good fr, that dude is slow
Im gonna be honest, that filter looks like shit. You are better buying another one and cleaning it way more frequently than you currently do now.
I ain't tryna be mean, but your hand looks like it's eligible for social security😐
You did it so wrong 😑
How
Skrewdriver😏
Why make a video when you are not going to do it right.
I can see that you like pieces of rubber in your engine nice
Keep your stock system and regular replaceable filter! Too many isssues with these filters and the “cold air intake “ systems not sealing well/at all. You will not save any money on this. (Expensive cost up front, $10 cleaning kit, and then a half days work to clean or “recharge” your air filter). Ur not gonna see any HP gains or anything either so save your money, save your time, save your engine, and keep the stock system
You do get more horsepower but not enough to make much of a difference.
@@SkellyDrAgOn you get even more with this and a tune vs a tune without the filter
CAP , just got my New InJen intake and it runs and sounds beautiful! I’m saving so much money fixing up my 99 Honda Accord I’m a smooth dude
Thanks for the tips!
@@chappboi7853 that's a lie! I have an injen and I'm tuned! Just putting an intake on with no tune is an instant power loss! I hit the dyno before and after!
Lol this was uhhhhhhh not correct!
+ Shake/tap debris out (if using screwdriver to lessen large debris make it a legit one and small!)
+ Use/spray CLEANING SOLUTION (K&N product) all over filter inside and out and let sit 10 min
+ Wash from inside out with cool smooth flowing water (you got that part right)
+ Let sit and air dry naturally - add small amount of oil (K&N product) evenly coating the surface
Saddle up those extra ponies you just received and vroom vroom 💨
Why is it always the people who have absolutely no clue how to do something properly. Trying to make how to videos?
Cant you just use a blowgun?
you can if you have one
Lol
😂💀
Is this really another how to wipe your own but tutorial hahahaha
Wrong! So Wrong! It should be white before you oil it.
Bro just made it worse..
Throw those rock catchers away. They don’t filter at all.
My car is tuned, so it requires a filter like this
Horrible advice. Use the degreaser and follow K&N recommended instructions.
Can I use wd40 to oil it
Please do a better job of cleaning your filter
Dawg that ain’t clean
🤦🤦🤦
Song?
Fr what’s the song
