Isn’t it marvellous that I am 5000 miles away in the centre of England and I get to browse a vintage store on the American west coast and indulge my passion for all things vintage? Thank you so much George.
You and I share some interesting tastes! I would love to have just one of the Maxwell pieces...and now that we're getting lots of armadillos in Kentucky (sadly mostly seen as roadkill) I'm strangely fascinated with how people have used their hides
The Herschell Carrousel factory and museum are located in North Tonawanda, NY on the Niagara River....about ten miles east of Niagara Falls. It's a great litle jewel of a museum. If you ever make it to Buffalo, it's worth a stop.
I’m so happy it’s going so well at the new location for you! I love these videos where you go through and speak about different pieces. You could do so many in this new location!❤
This move has turned out to be a great thing for everyone involved, that is wonderful. I kind of like the "grill plates" I seen them in the Willow pattern but I never cared if my food touched, I usually scoop some of it all together anyway to eat, especially the potatoes and vegies. lol Have a great day and safe travels
Oh my gosh, the kit purses gave me a flash from the past. My grandmother would get all kinds of kits in the mail, and I would love to know what she was making. I guess that's where I get my love for crafting❤❤❤
I love the contrasting colors, the sign wrapping the corner, but the heavily patterned wallpaper makes it hard to see the objects on the shelves. Maybe a band of that wall covering a bit above eye level with a contrasting solid wall color below and above would work to draw your eye, but not compete with the objects on shelves? Love seeing it all!!!!
I loved the booth with the heavy patterned back drop! I think it set off all the lovely items on the shelves quite nicely! And the color-blocked booth really opened up the space and complemented the many treasures!😊
Thanks for the update on your space and the mall in general. Per my last comment, I can’t get enough of the tours of both your own space and the mall in general. Thanks again. Much appreciated!
At first I was moaning about not living close and unable to travel. Now I think it's a good thing because I'd go broke, lol! I would be in here every week and I already saw at least a dozen things that would have come home with me. Such a great place, George. Congratulations for being a part of it.
Good evening, George! Loved that bamboo hall stand! That seemed a good price for it, too. I don't think I've ever seen one in bamboo. I much prefer displaying on colour. I'm not fond of the "landlord white". With me being an artist, I understand white as highlight...it goes on top. I'd like to have that Dole pineapple map. That Russian lacquer box was fantastic! Looks like that mall is coming along quite nicely. Lots of interesting items there, and the prices seem really fair. Thanks for the tour!
I've seen but one before, similarly priced, much harder to find than just the bookcases! I'm with you about color, unless you have such a colorful collection that white brings it together, it's just too museum-like for me. The Dole map almost got framed for my apartment, but I didn't really have room. Wasn't that a great lacquer box? That whole display was filled with the kind of true antiques that are interesting enough to be worth having for conversation's sake.
I'm happy you showed that bamboo hallstand. The Victorian bamboo pieces are something I really like and appreciate. Colour, as a background, "seats" things well, whereas a white background "pushes" things away from it. If museums would use even a grey background, it would accentuate the artwork they have much better. That Dole map was fantastic...if one has space for it. It's going to be a rather tedious...and exhausting...task to place my recent acquisitions, so I well understand having to leave something you'd really like to own. @@TheAntiqueNomad
I like the wall but I would not have that furniture on it. It’s a statement piece for sure. Need a couple of big Victorian plants on the sides, a funky gold floor lamp and two chairs either side. Preferably yellow velvet. I’ve convinced myself! Imma do it! Lol
I used to go out and collect stuff around the street is there was so much good stuff on the street just for the fun of it🎉 I found one of those fireplaces in an alley in pieces mint condition the orange red color came home and sold it for $1,300 in 2 hours🎉
I'm newer to your channel and have a question. Did you used to work with the Antique Road Show and do appraisals? I love watching all this now. But I remember hating it when I was little and my Mom loved it so we watched it lots. :)
Congradulations, George. So glad everything is going well for you. Enjoy seeing all the wonderful pieces and learning about them. Some I like because I grew up with them, and some I find I don't like because I grew up with them. I agree with you that if you find something you like, then there will be others that like it too. Thanks for sharing, Cat
Great video! I love seeing how the antique mall is evolving. I'm finding it very interesting. It's a behind scenes look at how it works. Thank you George!
Beautiful space, a lot of designer furniture, but I figure this was always expensive. I'm glad to hear you've had a terrific start to your move. My favorite was the bottle cap mirror. I love my walls, even after (yikes) 30 years. I painted, (sponged really) to look like they have a very subtle depth. Every video I watch of yours I quickly type in at least one thing I want in my life. Today was Bauer Pottery :)
The busy wall would be a great idea if you were selling the wall instead of the items in front of the wall. A plain white or black background is best in most displays.
Coors 'used to be located in Inglewood, had a factory there ...they relocated elsewhere - the brand was bought by somebody in Texas-- it's now defunct... orange Metlock had a lot of lead in the glaze I wouldn't eat off of those... Southern California & Pasadena & parts of OC were the hot bed of pottery designers...
OMG! A Chihuly glass piece for $50? Did I hear that correctly? I'd be on that so fast. I've seen his work in a few installations, like the Phoenix Botanical Gardens (they kept a couple of pieces) and other places. If I still lived in the US, I'd go get that piece. Wow
Yes! Seattle is where so much was purchased in the 1980s-90s, now those estates are downsizing and it's coming to a new generation. I just sold a really nice sized piece for a very low price myself ($135). They won't stay that cheap!
I made it down to Lander today!!! The long trip from Burien! LOL Didn't find anything I had to have, but found lots of beautiful stuff! Found your spot as soon as I saw the Haeger candle pedestal. I really considered the little (art deco) dancer figurine you had, but until I get a new house I am soooo short on room! I had to tell myself NO!
12:26 what age are those flamingos? I paid $40 for an 80s one… and I wonder if that Parrish is an old print. Probably not-wrong frame. 12:55 Eep! That mushroom!!! 😍
Really enjoyed watching your video and so many cool things to look at. I loved the white plate hanger with the 3 blue & white plates. Congrats on your good business and I hope your new location contains to work out for you.
The tall modern pair of Japanese lamps, years ago I sold a pair like that for $600, there's another shade that actually goes on top of them .. fellow drove up from San Diego at the request of his wife, open truck fortunately I had boxes... it came out of a Japanese household, they were sold in some of the Japanese furnishing stores, the ones I had were 5 ft tall...
Thanks for the introduction to Arabia Finland Pottery. I'll need to keep an eye out. I like color behind the displays but find the heavy designs on some wall hanging/rugs distracts from what is in front.
You grew up in Kitsap? My mom's side of the family are all from Poulsbo, Suquamish, Bremerton (going further back)! My mom and both of my brothers went to NKHS. Both of my grandparents were born in Seattle, but they were in Kitsap (with my great grandparents) by the 1930s. My mom and her siblings all grew up in Poulsbo! Now I'm wondering if anyone in our families know/knew each other? I love miniatures/salesman samples. I have a tiny Toby jug, a tiny earthenware crock, etc. The cigarette machine is amazing! LOL I have a question about something--I used to hear that anything over 50 years old was an antique, and anything over 25 years old was vintage. Have those rules changed at all? Or were they never even rules in the first place?
Wow! My dad bought land in North Kitsap, we lived near Island Lake but then he parlayed that into a house and property near Brownsville. I was two roads south of going to North Kitsap schools, so I doubt our folks met.
01:15 I have that cat! Arabia pottery is great stuff. A local dealer has me grabbing all the Ittala glass I can find too. Walls... the plain is too plain, but busy walls hide stuff.
21:21 OH MY GOODNESS: Nemophilist Nay LOVES that forest picture!!!! If you’re near it sometime again, and you could write down what it is, I’d be very grateful. 22:45 beautiful and yes, good deal!
Was the sample desk a Steelcase? Looks like my dad's from the UN - he was gifted it when he retired. Now he has moved on and it's in my basement and I wish I could sell it.
Being from the south, it seemed there were a lot of high priced but wonderful pieces in that mall. Where do the people there get their money from? Thanks for sharing ! I would love to travel there!
Sir George, I don't know where you're going to be on Saturday October 28th from 8am-3pm & Sunday October 29th, 2023 from 9am-3pm but I'd love to extend an invitation to the South West Focal Point Community Center Flea Market @ 301 NW 103rd Avenue in Pembroke Pines, FL. 33026. They do one every 4 months but because of YOU I've been going through my own, my mother's and my sister's life time acquirements. I must admit WE have a ton of items to get rid of. I'm really looking forward to this event and the monetary end result. I'm certain that your schedule is full but I must selfishly admit that your presence would make my day an even bigger success. With that said...please join us if your hectic schedule is permitting 😊. Thanking you in advance either way, Kelly...xoxo
The heavy textured wall makes it difficult to appreciate items at a Distance which is what you see before going into the booth. We really did not get a good close up. I vote probably not.
Solid or soft colors better for walls. If the colors are too bright or ‘loud’ my eyes are drawn to the wall… not the items… and sometimes it could make me feel dizzy. Keep it simple…
That cigarette machine is in working order and everything is "lit". That was funny. I hated my food touching as.a kid. Corn juice on my roasted chicken? Yuck! American food is made to be separated unlike foods from other countries that are made to be eaten together. My Indian food can touch all it wants. Yum! I think you may have meant to say Adrian Pearsall on that chaise, not Milo Baughman.
Nice looking at and hearing about all these pieces ! 😊 Thank you George. Take care and be well 😊
Isn’t it marvellous that I am 5000 miles away in the centre of England and I get to browse a vintage store on the American west coast and indulge my passion for all things vintage? Thank you so much George.
I love that about this so much! I hope someday to get to go to England and share your vintage and antiques with Americans. Glad to have you watching!
Fun video George! Thanks for sharing!
George.
I can always depend on you to show me wonderful things! Thanks.
Lots of great design furniture and art. But also some fun and whimsical things. ❣️
Thanks!
Jan, thank you so much for the Super Thanks! I promise it all goes to get us to the next place to find and share this cool vintage stuff
Your eclectic interests and looks add to your varied knowledge..that Rosewood table is sigh...thanks again for another wonderful post.
My pleasure!
WOW on the armadillo basket and the Robert Maxwell!!!!
You and I share some interesting tastes! I would love to have just one of the Maxwell pieces...and now that we're getting lots of armadillos in Kentucky (sadly mostly seen as roadkill) I'm strangely fascinated with how people have used their hides
Yes I've learned so much from you and CLL. My sister couldn't believe how much I knew she started testing me it as fun
That's really cool! I want you to know all I can think to tell you
Defo colors 🌈 Pattern worked very Well too
Loved this tour! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Anytime a dealer styles their booth and makes the effort I always appreciate it,,tells a story,,shows how you can display items
Wild George. I love the hawaiians space. There is so much there to see.😊😊😊😊😊😊
While George, that NT mall is so big, it would take me Uber a year to go through everything but what a year.
I love It❤😊❤😊❤😊
Nice to hear the new space is going well.
Love the graphic black and white wallpaper but a fun bright color is also nice as a backdrop
The Herschell Carrousel factory and museum are located in North Tonawanda, NY on the Niagara River....about ten miles east of Niagara Falls. It's a great litle jewel of a museum. If you ever make it to Buffalo, it's worth a stop.
I love the Arabia pottery!
It always feels fresh and bright!
That shoe display looks like a pop art sculpture!
Wall is too busy. Thanks George for the video.
I still have a few Dream Pets from my childhood! My Dad hung them from the ceiling in front of my double closet. Memories!
Wow what a great first week!
I Love that wall

The wall covering is perfect! It makes the items pop because they have used items that complement the wall covering. Very decorative, I love it.
For me it all gets lost in the wall covering.
Thanks for the update on your space and the mall in general. Per my last comment, I can’t get enough of the tours of both your own space and the mall in general. Thanks again. Much appreciated!

Franciscan Madeira was our first set of dishes and the dark green glasses like you showed tonight. I still have them …all boxed up in the basement.
George, I like a colored wall. I guess I'm a boring person LOL.😅😅😅

I think I would need to see the wallpaper display wall in person. I found it hard to focus on in the video.
Can't go wrong with Antique White!
Off-topic George but your skin looks so luminous you're just looking great!❤
What an amazing mall with so many lovely treasures!❤😮
I agree with the grill plates, recent Corelle ware does make a good lighter version in white. I prefer restaurant grill plates!
Congradulations, George. So glad everything is going well for you. Enjoy seeing all the wonderful pieces and learning about them. 9:41 very modernist for the time! 10:53 ooh! Those lithos call to me. That Hull planter I emailed you about would look great in that space!
I better go look for that Hull piece again!
@@TheAntiqueNomad oh yes!

They were 1950s era and thus the price difference. Meanwhile the Parrish is an old print but was crammed into a too small frame later on
I love your excitement!
Thank you! I am having fun

I prefer textured walls. Hi George!
All fascinating!
Dear George; Great tour ! The Santa Anitaware was fun to see. I have found pieces for 50 cents many times in my area of New Bedford, Ma.
Great video George. Thats an amazing store.
Personally I avoid clutter booths ,and for the wall I couldn't see anything else ,and for you empty spaces congratulations 🎉

Thanks for the introduction to Arabia Finland Pottery. I'll need to keep an eye out. I like color behind the displays but find the heavy designs on some wall hanging/rugs distracts from what is in front.
Arabia is so colorful and joyful! I think in retrospect that the same wall pattern in a very light grey would work much better
I loveee blue Opaline! I just started a little collection mainly ones that glow under blacklight!
Neat! I know some have that certain chemical to glow
I love the new spaces. I'm afraid of color. Or all my Kitch.
I found some of the pretty and busy paper at my goodwill and it was contact paper!

Whatever happened to that big, silver 1980's table you and Xeno picked up?

Your look is a mostly Florida look.
It cost money for advice.
