Peter don’t worry about the music, or the whistles and bells, this is just great and all the better without those things. Another great show thank you.
You’re never boring Peter. Great video thank you for showing us this. Don’t fret about your videos, they capture who you are and what makes you special. Have a great day.
I got a Big Telling Off about about this as Daughter had offered to do it on her MAC but I wanted us to use VideoPad and I messed it all up by Ejecting the Card Reader as it was 'Exporting' and we had to start all over again using her MAC then found it was being uploaded using her PHONE hence so SLOW and Boy had to 'Boost' her phone -- so much for 'Editing Attempt' by M E!
Hi Peter from Melbourne, Australia. I spent a bit of time in Essex in the late 90's. I've watched a few of your videos. It's refreshing to see some older folks making videos and passing on their knowledge. So many TH-camrs are keen to turn the camera on themselves and start talking before they've done their research, spreading misinformation on subjects they don't properly understand. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
@@theoldfilmbloke the bells and whistles just get in the way of other people's 'Professional' videos.. the only change I would make is to create play lists, so videos play one after the other. But this is a suggestion and not a criticism. I've learned so much from you. Thank you.
No need to rush your mixing. I found your video quite enjoyable. Good to see a happy and positive man like you. If everybody else on this planet would behave the same, the world would look a lot better!!! Best regards from the other side of the North Sea!!!
Hi Peter. No Music needed! You're perfect in what you do and how you do it! I'm following you from Germany and I celebrate every new video from You. Stay safe and keep going!
I love watching your videos Peter! They’re so interesting and informative, and your wonderful personality shines through. This one was particularly interesting, because I’m going to develop my own film for the first time. I have a really nice 9x12cm Voigtlander Avus like yours from around 1930, and I shall use sheet film (Ilford HP5Plus). Chemistry was my hobby when I was a youngster - it amazes me now how readily chemical supply companies would supply seriously toxic chemicals in 1960 without checking that they were sending them to a 10 year old - and you’ve inspired me to have a go at mixing my own.
Thank you Peter! I was hesitant mixing my own chemicals, but no I will try too! We will see how steady my hands are, I'd have to be ashamed if I couldnt do it at 26 years old. Whats the shelf life of your freshly mixed ID11? No fancy music or anything needed, looking forward to your next installment.
If it is in a half-full bottle it suffers from 'Increase in Activity' which means development times have to be shortened BUT I make it last weeks by squirting in some Butane Lighter Fuel to sit on the liquid surface and prevent Oxidation.
Dear Mr Elgar, Your videos are informative and useful and interesting. I feel that your character shines through and that is the reason that I watch your shows. I hope you continue to make many more videos as your vast knowledge should be archived and appreciated. Thank you for your work. Bill
YES -- I had another smaller bottle -- it was VERY brown but very good for processing Kodak 'Technical Pan' at 1+30 dilution -- have a look at my VIDEO Here : th-cam.com/video/h_wKQBOZuuk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for another interesting video. I really enjoyed it. Love to hear about how photography was done so many old ways have disappeared. i wondered how easy it is to get all the chemicals today and where from and if it is cheaper still.
Thanks Peter to share your life experience in live, i adore it alot , and now supporting for having your film , regards from Paraguay , South America and have a great week, hope to see you soon and if you have a channel in Facebook or Instagram please let us know . Thanks you

I have some very old Metol Elon probably goes back to 1940 maybe older does that chemical go bad. also have some Hydroquinone I think it goes back to the mid-1980s and have not tested either one of them just wondering if there's a shelf life on either one of them. by the way love your video
People offer all sorts of shelf life for Metol. My own experience is that I'm still working through a jar of Kodak Elon (same thing) I bought about 45 years ago. Likewise, I acquired a 5 pound jar of hydroquinone about then, which still works fine. Metol tends to be a pure white color when new, but my Kodak version was a very light grey, and remains same today. B&W developers may be less sensitive to aging chemical, but I use the same developing agents to make both E-6 and C-41 chemistry. My advice is to try it on part of a roll of film you won't miss if it goes poorly. If it is really worrying you, just bin the stuff and buy some fresh replacements.
@@theoldfilmbloke thank you for your information it is slightly gray I think I'll give it a go and make up a very small batch of D76 and see if I get good results on a clip test. by the way I love your 🙂
