It was described as an audacious prison break: the charred remains of an unidentified man lay in the now-infamous cell 35 at the G4S private prison in Mangaung while the man dubbed the “Facebook Rapist” made his escape. In a morbid ruse, his alleged accomplice, Nandipha Magudumana, later claimed the deceased as her customary law husband, Thabo Bester. Eleven months later and Bester, Magudumana and numerous alleged co-conspirators are behind bars. But while police tracked the two fugitives all the way to Tanzania, focus shifted to identifying the body left behind in cell 35. Now identified as Katlego Bereng, a man well-known to one of the accused, details of his brutal murder have shocked his family, leaving them with more questions than answers.

It indeed heartbreaking in how Katlego Bereng died. I hope his family find peace and justice. Moreover, the law enforcement must work hard to determine the exact cause of this young man's death.
People with money can do anything they want and get away with it. Nandipha sits in court with a heartsore face as if she didnt commit all these crimes. She, along with the other people involoved should be locked up in a Jail cell and it should be set alight like they did Katlego. Its heartbreaking how heartless people are. 😓💔
And the worst is you have ppl defending & feeling sorry for her because she is beautiful.
Upon his escape, Bester referred to himself as Katlego in his interaction with Primo 19 (see Popcorn and Cheese podcast Episode 5). Was it a mere coincidence that he stated his name was Katlego? Or he actually knew that the name belonged to the body found in prison cell? Food for thought.
Or they told him whom the body belonged to and he assumed it's identity...idk .. possibly

My sympathy’s go out to this family. On the other hand it appears the family had no idea of his whereabouts for ages before he died. If he was admitted to hospital why did they not know this. Families shud stick together and look out for each other.

How cruel can it get. Maybe they clubbed him in the park, bringing him to Hospital pretending that they found him and later so-called family fetched the body…….Poeple that were paid by Bester. The sentences must be as stiff as possible. These criminals must not enjoy live ever again.

So terribly tragic that this young man's life was cut short to fulfill the criminal & evil desires of a murderer & his girlfriend! May they, as well as their other accomplices, rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
So many questions: are there hospital notes to confirm that he was admitted, and died there or that he was a d.o. a. Arriving at the emergency department...was he picked out to be the one to be murdered and taken straight to the mortuary as "unknown " how did he land up in the cell,? obviously already deceased...oh my people my hart goes out to the family...I pray that they find the truth...

It's heart breaking because even more so they have put a face to a body. That couple is so cruel and heartless, let them not be the example and representatives of how cruel and heartless RSA criminals are?
And it's sad to see and hear people say that Nandipha was coerced, she was probably the mastermind I remember watching her on Podcast and Chill and there were so many red flags

Interestingly...I'd love to know how this got into the prison. Not only is the law over lenient with criminals but clearly these criminals are assisted in attaining their sick criminal 'status'. As a nation, we well on track (sarcastically exclaimed!)

My cousin died in what they said was an “accident “ which looked nothing like it, no evidence, no witnesses nothing, I hope we’ll be able to find closure someday.
