Mine arrived 2 days ago. Ordered after having to clean the glass of the whole house which took 2 laborious days. Windows, shower screens (needed help around hinges etc.) mirrors, kitchen splash back. Not tried on tiles yet. I use a 50/50 mix water and cleaning alcohol. Water didn't quite cut it. Tells you when level is low. Full reservoir lasts about an hour.
I hope you enjoy it. Manually cleaning windows sucks. The robot helps cut down on the labor.
Just saw this advertised at Costco here in Canada $599.99. A couple of months ago, I saw a drone being used to do wash windows on commercial apartment / condo buildings - now that was cool !
Window cleaning drones are cool, and a little out of my price range.

I have just extensively tested the ECOVACS Winbot W1 PRO with its washing solution.
At first you might think that it does the job, except when you have south-facing glazing and you can observe the result in raking light in the morning or at the end of the day... it's catastrophic! (I should point out that the windows are not cleaned in direct sunlight)
On large bay windows, the robot starts at the top, moving horizontally and each time descending a distance corresponding to its half width (approximately); each time it creates a trace across the entire width of the window; I think the upper casters are the cause (they were cleaned).
I also tried on a very clean window, previously washed by hand with a white vinegar/water mixture and without traces before the robot but with traces after its passage as shown in the photo.
I would like to point out that these traces are not visible in the absence of sun or when the sun is high.
I know what you mean with the traces. I’ve only used water and my biggest item is catching when the pad crosses over that line of clean and dirty.
I see those traces on my east ward facing windows in the morning dew.

You are the first TH-camr to recognize it! I ended up believing that I had a faulty robot.
I sent a message to ECOVACS with a full description of the problem and several photos; their response is: “Do you want to return the product?”
I think they are aware of this problem and that is why they have not proposed changing their operating method.
Not surprising when you realise that the dirt accumulates in the pad, so the robot acts like a wet cloth. In fact it redistributes most of the dirt over the glass.
You are absolutely right. It is not only this, it is all of them. The pad drags dirt around and wheels go over them.
I have hobot from 7-8 years ago (this is the exact duplicate of it). Windows looked clean, but when I saw them next morning, I was shocked! I grabbed the squeege immediately and recleaned them! I tested many times as well, and best results are obtained with a dry run first, change the pad and dab a bit of windex on it. You have to change the pad on each window (I have 6 pads)!
I used it maybe 2-3 times in all these years. It takes 4 hours to do my windows. Whole day's work running after this shythe. I get a squeege and be done in 10 mins. And on outside windows, it is impossible if there is some dirt like bird crap on the window. It will not clean well, and it will slip and fall. Not good for any windows that are not clean, or has anything other then a bit of dust. I still keep it for an odd job every year or so.
Hi Terry, I enjoyed your review. I have a glass wall with 3 panels of glass. Total wall size is 3m x 6m. Do you think the reservoir is big enough to do a window of that size and also do you think the suction is strong enough to go over the glass joins, they have a very shallow bevel.
Thank you. My rough conversion of your window size is ~ 10 ft by ~20 ft. Which is roughly the same as all 6 of my windows on the back on my house. Reservoir wise it will be close but I think one tank would cover that on a normal wash. Probably not the heavy duty mode though.
For the joints, assuming that they are small and shallow I don’t see why not. Especially if the joints are made to look like it’s one giant window. Big gaps or raises bumps like in stained glass will cause issues.

Is it possible to use a normal window cleaning solution, I mean not the dedicated one that came with the robot or just water?
Officially the documentation says to use water. I don’t see why you couldn’t but I have no first hand experience with trying it.

Their web site lists it as 30 cm X 40 cm or roughly 12”x 15”. Which seems small to me. The specs says the unit is 270 mm X 270mm or 10.6”x10.6”.
The manual says to have 3 inches of glass around the entire unit when starting it. I can vouch for this. There was times I put the unit too close to the corner and it would start.
So with the 3 inch rule, roughly a 17” x 17” window would be the smallest you could use it on.
I got it. It doesn’t do the windows all along the front of my house as they are too narrow… only slightly wider than the unit. But it was still worth getting it for my back and side windows! I LOVE it!!!!!!!! 😍 it’s just so darn easy to use.
Is there any problem with blinds mounted at the top of the window? (Of course I would open the blinds all the way. But the unit will still hit the blinds at the very top). Thanks!
Depends on the space. If there is enough space between the window and the blinds then the unit will go under it. If can’t go under it, then the bottom of blinds is the upper limit of the cleaning range.
Great video 🙂 Quick question, how often do you have to switch the cleaning pads? I had one robot with circular pads and sometimes I had to switch twice for the same window because as it goes wet starts to leave stains in the glass
After doing my house that had varying levels of dirt depending on which side of the house it was on and exposure to the elements. My rule of thumb is, When the pad is visibly dirty change it.
Saw another review. They suggested to start clean the window dry. To remove the most dirt, then change pads and do a wet clean. This to avoid same issue as you mentioned

I don’t know what the power draw is. It wouldn’t be the same as a traditional vacuum because it’s only holding a super light device to a window. It’s not trying to suck up dirt. Thanks for watching.
Is this faster or more efficient than a window squeegee cleaner pole kit? It looks like a lot of setup & babysitting.
Depends. If you have 1 inconvenient window then no, manually cleaning is probably faster. If you have a bunch then the robot will probably be better or at least easier.
How much time did it take for that hard to reach window of 34 at 60 inch? Did it clean properly (to me the window already looked clean before you started with the robot)? So many questions unanswered!
To clean that giant window is about 2-3 minutes. Yes it cleaned it properly because of the air conditioning unit being in the way, that window has never cleaned well especially on the outside of the house.
Side note I’m working on a video bout the pros and cons of filming these types of videos with a GoPro….
The biggest part that I didn’t (unintentionally) clarify in the video is to watch the cleaning pad. Once the cleaning pad is visibly dirty change it or else the window will get streaky.
I cleaned 22 windows total with it and 2 were extremely dirty and required 2 deep clean cycles. Otherwise one pass on regular cleaning was all that was needed.

I don’t know how long the battery lasts. The battery is only used an emergency situation where you loose power in the middle of cleaning a window. There is not a mode where you can normally operate the unit on the battery.
My 1 year old loves bluey.
An excellent professional review. My house is a three-story house and my windows can be accessed from the inside as they have screens which must be removed first to assess the outside of the window. Does this window cleaner robot clean solar panels? If you do not know l can contact the company. At my age it is dangerous to climb a 20 feet ladder or get onto the roof to access flat skylight + solar panels atop the 3rd story. Thanking you in advance, Mr. Mattos
Thank you for watching. To answer your question. I don’t know. In theory I’ve heard solar panels are quite strong so I see the potential.
With that being said I don’t know what changes when you compare solid exterior windows to the multiple layers of a solar panel. The unit is very light, but it uses vacuum suction to hold it to the window. So I don’t know what strains would be put on the solar panel with suction compared to normal wear and tear.
Sorry I can’t answer the question, but hopefully this adds some context in your research.

I used water as currently specified by ecovacs, but it looks like in their older marketing material they had a branded cleaning solution. Thanks for watching

Corners so far seem to be fine. It can get a little iffy if it’s loosing grip on the top corners. Bottom corners are fine.

Does it need to be permanently connected to power during cleaning? Then why does it need to be charged before use?
Battery time should be from 30 to 45 minutes
The battery is only for emergency situations where you loose power while cleaning. The primary source of power for the unit is being plugged into the wall.
How long will it take you to wait on a window to be cleaned by the robot? You’ll take all day on 1 window. Plus you still climbing a ladder
Each window only takes a couple of minutes. It’s a linear thing, the larger the window the larger it will take. My largest windows took about 5 minutes each. Also my assumption is as a homeowner, you already have a ladder.

Do you know if it works on rounded windows?
Depends on how tight the window is. The robot moves in straight or diagonal directions. Kinda like an etch a sketch. So if it’s a big circle I probably won’t have total coverage. If it’s small rounded corners that make a 90 degree angle then it may work.
How did it do as far as cleaning the window? I’m wondering if just water works ok and if it left it streak free.
It worked great. You have to keep an eye on how dirty the pad gets. If that is visibly dirty, you’ll get streaks. It’s it’s just wet from cleaning you can keep going.
These are definitely for people with window walls, multiple sliding glass doors, etc, not average home size windows in average quantities. My bar alone has probably 150sqft of windows, great room has probably triple that.
Depends on how you want to spend your time. I have an average new construction home from 2016, and this a better experience then doing it manually to me.
Definitely worth it if you have giant window walls and high up windows.
Although i would just not clean those windows but maybe my standards are lower than everyone elses 😅
Depends on where you live/ which direction your house faces to determine how frequent you need to clean the giant windows.
What length is the electric cord?
4.7 meters or 15.4 ft
That would be good if you could attach it with an extension pole.
Between the app and the automatic starting you might be able to make something. The only part i see to be an issue is taking it off the window when it’s done. You have to press the button to release it from the window.
Looking for a robot that will clean large shower tile walks and glass enclosures. Since this requires a smooth surface, I conclude it won’t work in tile walls.
I have not tested title walls but you are probably correct. Especially if they are textured. Thanks for watching.

THE THING HAS DEFAULT VOLUME IS SO LOUD WITH NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF
You can adjust the volume of the notifications in the app.
when you have to use a ladder, then the robot no longer has a purpose. you can also wash the windows by hand.
Depends on the size of the window, height of the window, height of latter, and how comfortable you are with heights.
It’s not for everyone, but there are many use cases.
Isn't it very noisy?
Depends on your level of sensitivity to it.
It’s not silent, it’s effectively using a vacuum to stick to the window.
I have Dyson vacuums and other robot vacuums for cleaning the floors and this unit is noticeably quieter than those units.
Depending on where your windows are you may have some echos. Similar to when you’re vacuuming a small room. Put a noise maker in a small area and it will echo.

@@TDSheridanLab Only adding a perspective here, not interested in calling you names or debating the state of your windows, which you saw in real life and I did not.
Anyone interested in these machines will end up trawling through TH-cam looking for a relatively solid argument for or against. There are a couple of models from Xiaomi (a company which I like and have bought a fair number of devices from) which have a TON of videos up, which show nothing at all. Clearly people have been paid to show the devices and they have not done a very good job of it.
So, in essence, yes. At some point, some of us will watch window washing robot videos all day!!! But only in the search for truth!
I thought your video was pretty good and upfront. Plus you very clearly stated that you bought the machine with your own money (and there's nothing else in your video which leads me to believe you're anything other than trustworthy).
I think people like me (who are considering something like this) want to see an obviously dirty window, and to be shown how the device performs. Not saying it's your job to make such a video though!
