The greatest respect I can give this man is that I HATED him as a player when he played my Suns in the playoffs. Even though we had the Lakers number from 2004-2007 in the playoffs.. he always made it scary! Once we were the 2 seed, playing a not very good 7 seed in the Lakers. We had won 61 games that year with Nash/Stoudemire/Marion and crew..the Lakers had Kobe with a high school team..guys like Smush Parker... Kobe single handedly took us to game 7!! That was the most amazing thing I'd saw in a while. The man was a killer. R.I.P. to the second greatest ASSASSIN the NBA has ever witnessed.

Rest In Peace to the Black Mamba..... the baddest dude and the one you feared MOST with the game on the line as an opponent... Even more than Jordan. Kobe had the clutch factor like no other.
@H1delta Agreed! A couple of things that make that shot special -- 1) It clinched the Pacific division title and 2) He did it against Ruben Patterson defending, the self-proclaimed "Kobe stopper".
Beyond grateful to have been able to watch this man play for so many years. He was an aura like Jordan. Imagine LA 2001 and the streets flooded near Staples Center to watch Kobe Bryant bring a title. Clutch was in his genetics. I would never in my life want to be a Coach standing sideline with 3 seconds to go up by 1 but Kobe has the ball in his hands. You know exactly what comes after that, there never was another option. Salute to the Michael Jordan of the 2000's. We lost a true icon in Kobe Bryant but we will never forget the greatness and immortality his name carried in the NBA and after the NBA. Mamba Out.
This was my favorite athlete of all time & I just got the news he died in a helicopter crash. Guy in the crowd at 0:48 knew as soon as Kobe got the ball that it was over. Haha. That's awesome! Kobe had that spark man. Bird, Jordan, and Kobe Bean!

Kobe lived for those moments, which made him one of the most hated players; he was the best closer in the game. He was NEVER afraid. I will never forget when he shot those consecutive air balls against Utah in the ‘98 playoffs… THAT was the moment he became feared with the ball in his hands with the game on the line.
these are all so clutch but my favorites are 4:04 and 6:15 A double ot buzzer beater is insane as it is, but when it's a 3 and with 1 second left that is the definition of clutch And being able to show up LeBron in those final seconds when he's guarding him is awesome.
That look around the whole arena at 5:33 is fucking perfect. Kobe looking at all them fans in the stands like yeah I just did that, go home see y’all next game.
Here in 2022. I know people disagree on a lot in life, but blows my mind how people try to leave this man out of a top 10 players of all time conversation. Like the disrespect is unbelievable, this man is for sure the best player to play ball. If not #1 for sure #2 all time
lol, I'm not 100% Pippin's better than gasol, and of course, shaq is 100 times better than pippin. Its ironic, because if theres one player who had all the same opportunities as jordan, its kobe. He had the same coach. Phil Jackson, the greatest coach of all time. Kobe tried to suceed without him, even told Phil his triangle offense was holding him back, after kobe missed the playoffs and was eliminated in the first round twice, he submitted to phils rule, and phil built a great team around him. Gasol, one of the most overated players in history, kobe would have 0 championships without him, 2. The first 3 rings, I don't countr as kobe's those were shaqs.
Jordan from 1999-2007 would have won every ring, thats 8 rings, shaq never would have left, then from 2008-2011 would have won every ring, thats 4 more rings, a total of 12 rings,
Notice that Kobe takes the shot if his team is tied or trailing, he's not going to throw the ball to one of his teammates and hope they bail him out. He's taking that shot!
you see how much Kobe was loved when fans cheered for him on buzzer beaters even in away games. I mean this with great respect, it wouldn't surprise me if Kobe's death is the piece that cements him as the GOAT...beyond LBJ and even MJ
6:55 says it all. That expression basically wraps up the emotion every opposition feels when facing Kobe.... Like we did everything possible, good defense-check double/triple team-check up by two with a few seconds to go-check put as many hands in his face a possible-check It's Kobe shooting- o_0 (Braveheart Scottish accent) 'Les go home lads, I'm not shaming meself fr dease bastards!'
Rick Steck You= Mr Stats/New generation fan. The Great Larry Bird (who had arguable the greats basketball I.Q ever) sums it up best. And I quote: *The day I stopped caring about stats, was the day I started winning championships.* Kobe is not out to get a triple double, and trying to stat pad so TH-cam trolls can give him props, his only focus is championships. Good day!
Rick Steck I have debated you before, and me and another basketball fan gave you more than enough stats to shut down every argument you threw our way (on Coach's video where he compared Kobe's 81 to M.J's 69), so no, we do not hate stats at all, but you new generation fans are 1) Too emotionally invested, thus have very biased and compromised verdicts (this is easily seen through the way you choose to articulate yourself, especially where it concerns Kobe Bryant and his fans) 2) Focus solely on stats like numbers on a piece of paper tell you everything, and forget some of the other essential components that must register before dishing out any verdict, like the most important weapon of any all time great, *intangibles.* This is according to the greats themselves, but I digress, we both couldn't get through to you in that month long debate, so I refuse to waste any more time catering to or knocking my head against a closed door. For the last time then, good day.
Mike had to rely on his 48 inch vertical, robust frame, and oven mitts as hands to be dominant. Bryant only had 40 inch vertical but is as dominant of a shooter and all. So overall, kobe is more skilled.
missing the triple of the draw at the end of the regulation against Portland in 2004 last match, where there is only the decisive triple in 2ot. perhaps the most incredible basket of his career.
