The city official was offended because of the hangman??? I think your sign about owning property in Wildwood was the best retort. All these years later, & they still won't let you open. What a bunch of dumbasses, maybe the Governor should get involved. As far as the caged gorilla, it reminds me of Earthquake the Ride in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Great Episode Randy! Hello From Phoenix Arizona 🌡 🔥
You’re correct about the shift from fun spooky to gory and bloody scary, especially around Halloween. Your hanging man reminded me of the story of Elmer McCurdy whose body wound up in a funhouse.
Loved the ride through spook houses. I was scared of the walk through because I didn't like real people jumping out and scaring me! Although the Castle Dracula boat ride in Wildwood did have live actors also.
When I was little, walk throughs did not have people jumping out at you, except for the occasional wise guy teens who did that to scare people for fun. That all started early 70s, and it took off all over the place. I don't like people jumping out at me either.
Was the Morey's Pier Haunted House (1972-1984) the first walk-through haunted attraction in the Wildwoods with live actors? Castle Dracula opened in 1977 and Castle Frankenstein on Fun Pier opened in 1978, it was a ride through in the early 70's called Castle of Frankenstein and was Seascape in the 60's.
What can I i say? You hut it out of yhe ballpark. I loved Fun Houses and I remember that smell. I can smell it now. I love the hanging guy snd guillotine. If people dont like it then walk past. It's history and tells part of our childhoid memories. People today have a different mindset. People are insulted and touchy about many things than in the era I grew up in. But I loved this. I like scary stuff and I remember the ride. Skua was a walk through and i loved that also. The Fun Houses that had the turning tunnel you needed to walk through to exit were hilarious. I lost it many times watching people laugh as they tried to get out. Very personal and happy memories I hady geandsons and myself hope to get down this month. They both work and have girlfriends and our schedules conflict but we will get it figured. Bye for now. Excellent video.
People are too offended today. You can't have an attraction like Morey's Haunted House today. There was one scene with rats eating a lady in a bed that I saw a picture of that some lady posted to facebook. But, the Morey's were able to pull off the Ghost Ship.
@@MainStreetRANDYLAND That’s ok! I love old Hunt’s Pier stuff (really any Sportland/Morey’s/Hunt’s/Casino/Midway/Mariner’s Landing/Fun) from the 60s-80s.
@@ElleCee62978 The Kops props are scattered. The Boyer Museum has a Kop figure, the others are in private collections and some stuff might have been thrown out around 1995 by the Catanosos who rethemed the pier as Dinosaur Beach in 1996 and it closed Sept. 1998.
I think a lot of the mainstream public and younger people today could care less about haunted rides and might even be offended by them. And you have younger generations who never knew Hunt's Pier, Castle Dracula, and other former haunted rides and walk-throughs. What was acceptable in the 70's and 80's might not be acceptable now. I don't think you could have a Hell Hole today, and Dante's Inferno was renamed Dante's Dungeon and the hell theme is gone. More like gothic castle theme now. At least you saved some of the stuff from defunct rides that didn't burn down but what is the future of it? You put a Dr. Blood's chandelier on ebay for a couple thousand. You're eventually just going to sell the pieces to total strangers and nobody will know where the props are? You have the big cuckoo clock from the Whacky Shack in your arcade? I saw it in a video up on a shelf. Somebody tried building the inside and facade of the Whacky Shack in Planet Coaster, but they are incomplete. One blueprint in Planet Coaster has the facade only, and the other has the inside with an incomplete facade.Planet Coaster is a park building game and Planet Coaster 2 is coming out this fall with waterslides and pools. I tried building Wildwood in different coaster games like RollerCoaster Tycoon 1-3, and now Planet Coaster. The creator of the Whacky Shack interior must have some knowledge of what the inside layout was like, looks pretty close based on my limited knowledge of the inside. I never rode it at Hunt's Pier in Aug 1982 and Aug 1983.

Do you have any of Hunt’s Keystone Kops? I was a kid in the late 70s, early 80s and I absolutely loved them. Also loved The Skua and the sliding cook.
@@ElleCee62978 nope. Sorry
