    I think you mean this is the Scythe Screwdriver Rev. C and it also includes a cooler for some reason.

    This was perfect to watch for installing this cooler on a LGA1700 i7-12700KF. Thanks for video! This cooler is great no more throttling during gaming. Max core temps running in the 60-65c range.

    It's interesting how different regions have more retail access for certain parts. In the US, these Scythe products are mainly available from resellers and tend to be marked up quite a bit more than they are sold for in other regions.

      Prices aren't too bad on Amazon. This one goes for about $57, which seems reasonable for the performance.

    10:37 The rubber part of the standoffs should be in contact with the motherboard. The box details this instruction. But, thanks for the video.

    • @josephwilson8391
      @josephwilson8391 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm looking at the instructions right now and in the picture it shows the rubber part is actually facing the same way this guy in the video has it. You are claiming it says that the rubber part is suppose to be in contact with the motherboard but that's not what's being shown in the diagram. I also don't really care for the text in the instructions because I find it confusing.

    • @Loudlevin
      @Loudlevin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@josephwilson8391 hes right, on my instructions it shows an arrow pointing at the rubber which is facing down onto the motherboard which makes sense, you dont want to scratch your pcb.

    between the stock Kaze fan on the mugen vs using the wondersnail, what would you prefer?

    • @itspaafekuto
      @itspaafekuto ปีที่แล้ว

      I replaced the Kaze with a 2400rpm WonderSnail, controlled by the "Silent" profile on my motherboard. It's still barely audible but now my 5700X is positively frigid. I put the Kaze to work as my case exhaust fan instead.

    yeah, installing cooler and a backplate compatible with new socket is kinda exiting, i quess, but, does this rubber based pings or whatever things is ok for am5 as a question on height. Also i need more thermopaste on 1700 obviously..

    Hey do you think the lga 1700 bend corrector will help with the contacts? I bought this and saw a video regaring the cpu bending for lga 1700.

  • @jshireley
    @jshireley ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, "too little thermal paste is bad, a lot is good" or whatever nonsense he's saying, is incorrect. You CAN put too much on. If there's too much in there it prevents proper heat wicking by the heat sink. The amount he's using isn't terribly awful, but it's still more than you need. I would only use about 1/3 of what he has on there. You want just enough to form a kind of thin glaze, and we always apply ours with our finger tips (if you're not allergic to the compound or have some other such sensitivity) and use a spot about the size of 1-2 grains of rice and spread it manually to cover the surface.
    Editing to add: this is otherwise a great video, don't get me wrong. And from what I've seen of many of his other videos, they're by and large extremely helpful, and of course well done. I just have this stupid pet peeve about how much thermal paste should be used. I was an electronics technician in the US Navy, and have been building/repairing computers now for 30+ years, so I have experience in this area.
