Hey Anthony - great video... wish I had it back when I got my saw. :) You should do another video on how to properly set up the blade guides (which I know you fixed later). It's not easy to get them perfect. There are lots of videos on setting up band saws, but none show someone setting one up that has rollerblade bearings. Also, after using my saw on pine boards, sap accumulated on the blade. That caused the bearings to spin and made the saw noisey... I use Pinesol or Turpentine to clean the blade... then hit it with PAM cooking spray to reduce sap build-up. Thanks for posting! On to your stand building video next...
Thanks, glad you liked it. Adjusting the roller bearings was a bit of a pain with the Allen head bolts and all but if I have time, I'll try to do a video on that adjustment. I spent about a half hour doing it but now the saw cuts better and is even more quiet and no rubbing. The blade should last a lot longer now.
I just purchased this bandsaw. Overall it works pretty good. If you want to resaw anything over 2 or 3 inches you are going to need to get a new blade. The blade that comes with it is not a resaw blade. I have also had a lot of trouble with the lower blade guide coming loose. There is just a single bold that holds it in place and it seem to vibrate loose all the time. I may use some blue loctight to keep the bolt secure. But for the price the WEN 10 inch is a very capable machine.
Great Video Just ordered one. First Bandsaw Was wandering after watching all the videos on setting them up. Would it be easier to adjust the blade with the table off to get to the bottom adjustments.
Nice review. I came hoping to watch you change the speed. I was confused because I thought there was only one threaded wheel on the big pulley. With the motor loose, I couldn't tell how badly the visible toothed gear was aligned with the original. I finally saw that there was another toothed gear below to the inside of the larger toothed gear, and then it was easy. Unfortunately, I loosened the motor offset screws trying to figure out how to pull the motor closer. Anyone reading this, don't do that (not needed). Only loosen the two external screws that secure the motor. The instructions need help.
In the video you only adjust the belt on the bottom pully, did you also have to adjust it ontop?? Now its 3yrs since you made this video, how is the Wen bandsaw working out? I just bought mine and wondering how long I can expect to have it working...
samson2371 I had to upgrade right away to a more industrial type saw for the work I do, but it was working fine for the short time I owned it and the person I sold it to still loves it.
Thank You Anthony, you made an excellent review and explanation of all the features were clear and precise. I'm hoping to get both the WEN Bandsaw and drill press in the near future. Rodney
Keefe Borden I sold it within 2 months because I was given an opportunity to upgrade to a much larger and more power industrial bandsaw. For the time I owned it, it was fine.
Wouldn't it be best to level the table once its mounted to the stand? Maybe that's just me, I don't know.🤷♂️ Anyway, thanks. Btw you kind of remind me of Jason Priestley. Jus sayin'.
Can anyone tell me if this will cut through steal? Do I have to change the blade? Is it powerful enough? If not what should I be looking at? Thank you all in advance?
Thre bottom of the gullets should be in the center of the upper wheel. The guide bearings should be as close to the blade as possible without their turning when you hand turn the blade.
A little WD-40 makes quick work on removing the grease, then some acetone and it’s ready for wax or Bostich glide coat (used to be top coat) so far I like this saw better than my 10” grizzly, wish I would’ve seen this video before I pulled the trigger on it ...
Great vid. I just ordered one off Amazon to do bow risers / lams and it sounds like I made the right choice to start out with this mod. Pretty sure I'm going to upgrade like you did after I get some bows sold but hey, if you're starting out, you cant go wrong with picking this mod it seems.
Great video. How accurately does it cut after setting it up properly? I'm seriously considering this bandsaw for making segmented pen and shaving brush handle blanks requiring 45 & 22.5 degree cuts which need to be spot on. I'll use it for cutting round bowl blanks too but accuracy doesn't matter with those.
Cigar Smoka honestly I didn't have it long enough to make cuts with those angles because I upgraded to a much larger 14 inch industrial bandsaw. It all depends on how much time you take to set it up. The more in depth you get, the more accurate it will be
clatter clatter clatter.....pretty quiet. Sounds like an easy fix... maybe two out-of-adjustment parts kissing . Ordering one so I guess I will will find out.
You’re a gentleman and a scholar. (Is that what Scalaro means in Italian?). Nice instructional video. In fact, better than the one Wen provides. I’d totally hire you to do demo videos. Thanks for taking the time to put this out there.
B CM honestly I upgrade to a grizzly 14" bandsaw rather quickly because of a unique opportunity so I didn't own this long enough to try but in my opinion probably not. If you try, get a really good blade and make sure to bolt the machine down
After really taking the time to set it up, I think it's a good saw for the money, I haven't tried to resaw and hardwoods yet, I would have to buy a good 1/2" blade and make a taller fence for that. Maybe in time.
Hey Anthony, I know this is a little bit old, but I'm really interested in this band saw. I just need to know what its dimensions are without the stand. Overall width, height, and depth (including table). I'd really appreciate it!
MellowMediaDesign unfortunately I sold this bandsaw almost a year ago so I can't give you the measurements, but I would suggest google it and look for what the manufacturer calls the footprint. That will give you what you need
Brian Q yes I did, the major differences are the throat opening is 14 inches, the power and accuracy is incredible after set up and my favorite is that you can get a riser block kit which allows you to resaw up to 12 inches in height
sure was a lot of burn marks on that wood you cut that's not supposed to happen, that could ruin a project really quick not to mention all the sanding that will have to be done, try readjusting the blade. if it does that on soft wood that's just not going to work at all on something like Oak
Just so you know, if you do a lot of woodworking and big projects, I already had to upgrade to an industrial sized 14 inch grizzly band saw. I did a video on it recently. Big price difference though.
firdaus cyril the brand is Wen, just do a google search and you’ll find a ton of websites that sell it, I’m not promoting any particular website or bandsaw brand, especially since I sold this a long time ago and upgraded to a much bigger unit
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'll be picking one of these up for small projects around the house, real light duty. Thanks again!

Love this guy's accent
Best video I've seen on this bandsaw! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Anthony! I just bought this saw, and will be ready now when it gets here in hopefully a few days.
Thanks for the review looking forward to getting one.

I haven't tried that without the table on, I guess you could do that but this saw was easy to adjust the bottom guides with the table on anyway.

I just got the 12" Wen drill press and am very impressed with it. Going to pick up one of these next.
You always do a great job with these videos, thank you.

Just got the same one! Thanks for the review
Great, enjoy it!
Thanks for the review. How has it held up over time? Also, when would you use the saw's faster speed and when do you use the slower one?
Keefe Borden I sold it within 2 months because I was given an opportunity to upgrade to a much larger and more power industrial bandsaw. For the time I owned it, it was fine.
Very thorough and helpful review young fella, thank you.
Watch those sleeves!

you didnt show how to install the blades or it was already installed?

John Anderson thank you and congrats on your new tool. Eventually you might upgrade but for small to medium jobs, this will do just fine.

can you demo how to put the blade back of wheels
Does anyone have a problem seeing the blade and cut line when the blade guard is properly adjusted?
Thanks Brother! That was a great review. You answered all my questions and saved me a lot of time and effort. Well done
Thank you. Glad to help
clatter clatter clatter.....pretty quiet. Sounds like an easy fix... maybe two out-of-adjustment parts kissing . Ordering one so I guess I will will find out.
Thumbs up on video, just received mine today.
How much length cutting
that looks like a decent lil saw. but soon your going to want a bigger.
Eventually, but for now it'll do. I don't have much room in my shop or I'd get a huge powermatic with a mobile base
Hey joey tribbiani i enjoyed the video
Will you show us how to change to a 3/16 blade?
You’re a gentleman and a scholar. (Is that what Scalaro means in Italian?). Nice instructional video. In fact, better than the one Wen provides. I’d totally hire you to do demo videos. Thanks for taking the time to put this out there.
Brian Knab thank you, my last name does translate to scholar or student, depending on the dialect.
GREAT video. Sold me on this item. I was just waiting for you to do a crane kick at the end...
For the price WEN products are a good value.
do you think it can handle cutting hardwoods 5" thick?
B CM honestly I upgrade to a grizzly 14" bandsaw rather quickly because of a unique opportunity so I didn't own this long enough to try but in my opinion probably not. If you try, get a really good blade and make sure to bolt the machine down
After having it for a while how do you like it? have you tried to resaw any hardwoods.

+Anthony Scolaro you have a good channel. Thanks for the reply.
+Mr Woodworker No.1 anytime and thanks for watching.
Any chance of a follow up review?
Rick D I sold it for a much larger industrial grizzly. It was a good saw but too small for what I do.
Anthony Scolaro thank you 🙏🏼

great I appreciate that. Is there a particular reason you sold it so quickly? Should I be avoiding this saw?
MellowMediaDesign just too small for the work I do. It otherwise it's a good machine.
Can't see how to adjust the speed. Otherwise very great video.
Id also like to see
I know you upgraded to the grizzly but how was the power for this machine when re-sawing hardwoods? Like a 6in by 1in piece of Maple or Walnut
Not bad but you have to put a 1/2" resaw blade on it or it will bog down while you are in the middle of slicing hardwoods
Thank you, and keep up the videos!
Just ordered this and the wood slicer re-saw 1/2" blade. I CANT WAIT!
Awesome, good luck and use it well! And thanks for watching
4 inch hard maple is a stretch for this saw. Get a good replacement blade for it. Much less flex from a Bosch replacement over stock.
do you get that much more from buying a grizzly? thanks for the review bruda
Brian Q yes I did, the major differences are the throat opening is 14 inches, the power and accuracy is incredible after set up and my favorite is that you can get a riser block kit which allows you to resaw up to 12 inches in height
Which Grizzly did you order and how much would I expect to pay?
Brian Q grizzly G0555LX go on my channel and see the video I did on it. It's around $700
too bad the 9 and 10 inch table saws bug down on 1 inch hard woods. otherwise, prices are reasonable. Jumping to 14 inches, triples or quads the price
What is the model number of the saw?
10 inch refers to what the width or height of material cut?
10 inch throat opening from the left of the saw blade to the body of the machine. You can cut a maximum height of 6 inches from top to bottom.
Shanker Basa 10 inch refers to the width that can be pushed through the saw laying flat
I hope your bench is level.

He was using the stock blade that came with the saw. He was turning to tight a radius for that thick of a blade, maybe?
Your audio isn't coming through. Would be nice to hear what you're saying.
Check your volume, I just played the video and the audio is fine
Sometimes TH-cam is having the problem. Try killing the app on your device or restarting the video
+ProfessorFether Yeah, my bad. Using headphones and they were only partially plugged in. Go figure! Anyway, very good video. Thanks!
+ProfessorFether thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Plenty more on the channel and more to come
+ProfessorFether And even better now that I can hear it! ;)
Is the shell of the machine metal or plastic?
Yūza
All metal.
How much did it cost?
It was only $240 plus tax, very cost efficient saw
+Anthony Scolaro awesome, Thanks!
Just so you know, if you do a lot of woodworking and big projects, I already had to upgrade to an industrial sized 14 inch grizzly band saw. I did a video on it recently. Big price difference though.
Where did you buy the 10 in Wen ? I can only find the 9 in.
Wen sells direct but the price is around $300.
Amazon
I bought this. I like it, good saw for good low price
Yes it was a good machine for the money.
feet per minute not rotations by minute
can u give me brand model and website to order :) :)
firdaus cyril the brand is Wen, just do a google search and you’ll find a ton of websites that sell it, I’m not promoting any particular website or bandsaw brand, especially since I sold this a long time ago and upgraded to a much bigger unit
I'm thinking of getting this saw because I came up with a idea that I want to make with it and to sell on my website that I'm starting up.
Be sure to adjust the blade guides under the table as well. That noise is not right.
How tall are you?
