For The Hypothesis Question at 13:53 Why do we accept the teacher's claim, I understand that the probability of getting 4 answers is 0.121 or 12.1% and that 12.1% > 5% but i don't understand how that proves that she was guessing the answers.
we are testing to see if there is "sufficient evidence to reject the teachers claim" tht the student was guessing. if the student was trying the probability would be more than 0.2 (as 0.2 is literally randomly guessing). we have to accept Ho as there is insufficient evidence to REJECT teachers claim idk if this makes sense but thats how i thought of it
Be slightly careful on how you're interpreting a normal distribution here. Remember the shape of a normal distribution is a bell-curve and as such can take values larger than 10. The answer is almost obvious when you think about how the bell-curve will also look. Remember a normal distribution is symmetric about the mean and as a result 50% of the data is to the left of this point and 50% is to the right of this point and seeing as we're looking for P(Y < 10) where 10 is the mean then the probability must be a half in this case. Let me know if this doesn't make sense though and i'll try explain it a little better :)
For the stone question, does the 4 seconds later mean that once its reached rest mid-air, it takes 4 seconds to fall to the floor or does it mean it takes 4 seconds for the whole thing to happen?
this guy got the mechanics quetion wrong hes using the time of when it hits the ground and doesnt make v = 0 if u want max distance over the ground as maxium point v would be 0. answer should be 12.8 from what i found
