    Take a child prodigy on organ, raise him in the CHURCH and this is the kind of genius and SOUL you end up with. Praise the Lord and crank up the Hammond!

      No reactions because yet too many musicians shy away from religion. They need to be 'free'.

    The really crazy thing is that while his hands are flying all over the place he's STILL playing sick bass lines with his feet!

      I am 95% sure that he has moved bass notes to the lowest octaves of the upper manual as well as pedals. Every time there are really slick walking lines, his left hand is playing those very notes. I doubt he doubles the feet. That is by no means criticism, though. This is absolutely awesome, and I could only dream of getting to a fraction of that level.
      The only player I have seen on video kicking really advanced funk lines is Barbara Dennerlein. She is not quite as groovy as mr. Henry though.

    • @KyleHottel

      Don't forget about the volume swell pedal too

    • @elanfrenkel8058
      @elanfrenkel8058 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@andersgadejensen6945 You could be right.. but it could be because the left hand guides the bass and he's also playing it with the foot. There's a lot of videos of him playing sick bass lines I doubt he mods every hammond he gets. The mind-body connection is such that the left hand has the "brains" of those lines, but the feet can move along. Its kinda like humming to a melody you are playing on the piano, a lot easier to hum it while playing it then humming it from scratch. In this case the foot is the "hummer" and the left hand is the melodic bass.

    • @andersgadejensen6945
      @andersgadejensen6945 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elanfrenkel8058 I don't think you need modding. Drawbar adjustments might do. I think the low 16' bar is the same for the pedal manual as for the upper manuals.

      No way...Dr. Mattie Moss and Twinkie's Mother and Daughter, ok! But, I'm sorry Cory Henry is very very talented and great with improv and his imagination, it gets in the way particularly when he's playing Gospel music. I wish he'd play through feeling and soul without the competitive spirit and pressure to leave the audience wooed and wowed all the time. Simple is great and that is not something I've picked up from him! Funk and Jazz ok, he can have it this generation but in general, I find him overrated. I've never just heard him play a song unchopped up or traditional. This is not an insult at all just my overall critique.

    Love Cory's playing. He is a huge talent and we're blessed to have organists like him still carrying the Hammond flag high and proud. I was very saddened that Dr Lonnie Smith passed away recently - he was the 'grand daddy' of Hammond players but the likes of Cory, Barbara Dennerlein and of course Joey de Francisco plus a few others keep the skill of playing bass on those pedals, well and truly alive. God bless them.
