How to grow an organic ‘No-till’ farm that sustains people and rescues animals | Peepal Farm's story

  • 00:00 - Our imagination VS the reality
    01:16 - We practice no-till or low-till farming
02:57 - Why do we use raised beds?
03:38 - Why we do not uproot our crops
04:54 - The philosophy behind our farm
05:40 - Processing of food increases income
07:39 - We eat seasonal fruits and vegetables
09:15 - Weeds, perennials and grasses
11:28 - All our products are vegan
Robin Singh and Shivani Bhalla left a comfortable life in the US to return to India and find solace. When they travelled across the country to try and find their 'purpose' they realized that rescuing and rehabilitating animals is what they want to do. So they set up a non-profit venture called PeepalFarm in a small village called Dhanotu located in the hills of #HimachalPradesh. Although their end goal is the welfare of their animals, they have set up structures around their organic farm that will aid this and make their venture self-sustainable. They practice no-till agriculture, a unique and #natural way to grow crops. This farm tour will show how they grow their own organic produce which sustains the employees, and volunteers and feeds the #animals. Watch the video to know more!

Love the way you've casually covered literally all the concepts of natural farming and labelled each and every plant you mentioned with common names, scientific names, and English names! Kudos ji!! 🙏🙏🙏👏

I started but its been so difficult to continue. It seems like impossible to make things work and keep the place running. I have realized i started too early. I should have work more for money in the abroad, save some money and start it. I wanted to prove if one have that passion, pure intension, determination and willingness, then any piece of land can be turn into a beautiful permaculture farm and a homestead. But it seems like i'am failing.. I started in a wrong time in a wrong place.. 🙁

    • @srikrishnachaitanyasunkara7839
      @srikrishnachaitanyasunkara7839 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Is tilling actually needed in the natural life cycle of plants and trees?? Why do we humans do it??! Cuz we want to loosen up the soil but, why do have to loosen up soil in the first place?? Cuz we don't cover the soil with any grass or cover crop . So that leads to drying of soil into dust and subsequent erosion. Tilling only adds up to the erosion of top soil. All the farming crops are annual or shorter in season. So we are boosting a cycle of soil erosion every year .
As per nature . Mulch is what sustains soil health and a seed planting doesn't need prior tilling n ploughing. Cover crops which are perennial and mulch retain soil integrity and tilling means to remove all that!

I will keep cows too but not to run vegan propaganda only for my self happiness just like people keep dogs for their self happiness.
I will drink its milk too like our sages and see to it if I can still love it or not. There is a give and take in society. Either we run businesses and think that is sustainable for the world because we can find resources and people and volunteers or we be open to other end of the story and know there is no black and white. Our journey should not make others believe that it is the ONLY way. Sadly, what I will not do is run vegan propaganda.
He should hear Lierre Keith too.
People should run their organizations and seek volunteers without propaganda before their own future starts questioning.
