I always tune in for the actual good information, but man is it hard to ignore just how much your editing is not only fun but keeps improving, props to the masked mystery man
Props to Mad Hat for his video editing. Getting better! P.S. No wonder it is so hard for people to get into cyber security as people are having a hard time paying to get the certs requirements to land a job. I hope there is more info on how people from any part of the world to learn how to become a cyber security analyst.
Your videos are awesome man. I always get a good laugh with the edits! I’ve been conflicted about going for BTL1, CCD, or HTB CCDA. I have 9yrs IT experience and have A+, Net+, Sec+, CySA+, and ISC2 CC. I’m currently studying for CISSP but will shoot for a practical certification afterwards.
Great video like always i'm doing comptia sec+ and after i'll do pentesting+ but surely I will also do other certifications and I can’t wait to end up changing and working and doing what I like
I recommend CySA+ after Sec+ as there are 10 or 20 blue team jobs for every one red team job, and the industry contraction trend seems to be ongoing. Work on your red team skills and PenTest+ as you BlueTeam, always prepared to Cobra Strike a juicy red team position offering.
@@xCheddarB0b42x hi thanks i'm already doing sec+ and i don't have any problem ....I would like to become an ethical hacker but i also like pentesting like red team
Love the memes and content. As someone who has been in IT for over 10 years , i can say Security+ is the comptia cert i would take as job required it, especially govt jobs. CCNA got me into the door for net eng job. A+ is a waste of money. Taking the google cyber security cert, so far went through the 1st 3 modules and is way more helpful.
BTL1 Cert holder - I thought it was an amazing course, and was my first blue team class/cert. I am now enrolled in SANS BACS - BTL1 has made (GFACT, GISF, GSEC, GCIH) all relatively easy... so take that for what it is worth. Besides BTL1 the only experience I had was some paths on THM.
Useful fact about CDSA. If you are a student you can apply the student discount and finish the SOC Path for 8 dollars a month later on just buy the exam voucher for $210.
You should talk about the NSA's CNODP course. It is technically more expensive than every single one of these and is arguably the most advanced cybersecurity course in the world. CNODP and other NSA development programs are the top of the top.
I had a quick look and it’s only for their employees. And don’t be so sure about them being the top of the top. Never underestimate what you don’t know.
HTB seems to be the king of the hill. Cyber Defenders also has caught my attention lately but didn't know enough about the quality their content. Looks like SBT needs to update their content/pricing as their prestige will save them for so long. I have been on THM (not in the video) lately as their pricing is much affordable and more "hold your hand approach" with labs and VMs but they are lacking assessments (just certificate of completion). Still a great source on a budget.
It's dumb that certification creators and schools make money when you fail. It's almost like they make it difficult just to make more money. That's why I'm doing bug bounties, I won't need certified to prove I can do something.
@@xyz3400there’s a few different versions of it but the short explanation is it’s a program that some websites offer where a freelancer has the opportunity to ethically attack an application/website, if you find something to report you will build a report and send it in there are websites that let you make accounts for bug bounties so you can show experience and success rate with that account, some programs even pay you!
I really feel this especially after watching your video on your journey. I’m literally in the same boat. Dropped out of college during Covid then got dropped from my classes when my school fucked me on military leave (I gave a professor the same energy who was sleeping with the dean). Love computers, networking, cyber security and cloud based shit but I spent the first 5 years of my life after highschool becoming an emt then paramedic. After pulling many dead prostitutes off asphalt and plenty ptsd attacks later…. Im starting my journey, can’t really afford for it to not work. Wish me luck!
@mad hat. my dude, i really really wanna get in this field. i got out the service, in 2012. since then i tried to get a networking and system managment degree 8 years ago. before all the information on how to get into the field. ive been following your channel to hopefully not make the mistakes. my biggest problem is im more a hands on type person when it comes to learning so i gotta get over that hump. Im currently doing the google cert for cybersecurity. i downloaded the app you recomended for testing , im using it to test prep for the security+. WELL maybe within this year.. who knows. i started the google one like last week. im already through the first lesson and 56% through the second lesson. ill be in this field if it kills me. Thanks is basically what i wanted to say and to give u a idea of where i am because of your videos. thank you keep it up.
Thank you for the information my dear sock with eyes. I would like to point out that you don't have to recertify every 3 years for the Security BTL 1 and 2, so it's a nice trait if you ask me.
Find your vlogs invaluable. My degree and current job is not IT. Actually, I'm Health and Safety officer planning on a career change. Please advise where to start in CYBER SECURITY CAREER. Thank you.
I’m trying to figure out to take the certs stand-alone or this program that these Information Technology (IT) Fundamentals (CompTIA’s ITF+) Fundamentals of Computer Networks (CompTIA’s Network+) Penetration Testing or “Ethical Hacking” (INE’s eJPT) Fundamentals of Information Security (CompTIA’s Security+)
Granted the pricing of these certifications are cheaper than going to college but damn some of these are ridiculous. Also there is no guarantee that you'll even pass the tests given 100s or 1000s $$$ wasted for a failed attempt.
Not all security analyst jobs get deep in the weeds of forensics and most junior positions don't go into full incident response but more so participate in the actioning involved by more senior positions.
Hey man I really appreciate your content and memes, I was wondering if there’s like a check list or something available to see a true path? I want to learn becoming an SOC, just started on Coursera google course, but I’d like to put what I learn to the test too, just like hack the box and things like that? Thank you again
I am currently going into my second semester of college. I'm aiming to study cybersecurity, but haven't really gotten started, except for a few dual enrollment classes. How should i get started, considering that i have a job, am currently in college, do kickboxing, and am in a relationship. I'm not sure how to juggle all of these things, and i'm wondering if you have amy tips to help! Is cybersecurity a good carreer, that gives you time to maintain relationships, and have a good balance between work, and the other areas of life?
WGU might be a good fit for you. I've been able to get my cyber degree in 2 years with no transfer credits or IT background while working full time. You get a lot of certs throughout the program. You pay for a 6month term and get as many classes done as possible. If you have an IT background, certs with hack the box or tryhackme experience might be the way to go.
I recommend perusing the Mike Meyer's Security+ book. The Kindle version is $24. As for work-life balance, almost everyone agrees that your average Security Analyst position is excellent at supporting relationships and family. One-offs who find themselves as the only security person at a start-up while on-call would not agree, but these are outliers.
The super expensive ones are horrible, like truly horrible. The last ones you covered, I feel like those must be more oriented to government organizations, or like big businesses to send their employees to. I can't imagine someone paying out of pocket for that sht. There is some certs that are really good, and cool even... but some that seem truly pointless and extremely overpriced. Some really give a bad name to certs...and i can see why some old heads hate the whole cert thing after dealing with it for 20-30 years.

You have 6 years after passing the exam to provide the 4-5 years experience needed. Anyone can take the exam, no pre-requisites. Associate isn't as impressive because the 4-5 years experience in any 2 of the domains means you've had PAID work experience, but passing the test means you have the practical knowledge just no experience. Associates of ISC2 is kind of like a college degree in that sense. Also, I'm glad the edits are enjoyable 😁💚
