One of the things I like about the original Animal crossing is that you’re not some pillar of hope coming to reshape the community for the better, you are just some nobody that rolled into town. I think that's what I love the most about the original game. While the loss of the QoL changes over the years can definitely be felt, it's nice just being another face in the village rather than a paragon of change.

You’d talk to Rover or Kapp’n, they’d ask you a few questions, and poof, your character. In some games, other elements would later become customizable. For example, in WW, they introduced Harriet, who used a similar question system to give you a haircut. In later games you could apply your Mii’s face to the player character, which looked incredibly cursed. @@KingC89 Yeah, but as you've said that was "before". Van Gogh's paintings were cheap too when he made them in 1885. But as time goes on the product becomes more and more rare and desired, obviously. Sure, consoles and games that are 10 or 15 years old aren't that special. They're still relatively recent. But when those things become 30-40 years old, obviously the price will rise. In fact, the age of a game is such an important aspect of the price, that people will literally give hundreds of dollars for a bad game that nobody wants to play, just because it's old.
1. HOW do so many people forget that Animal Crossing bells are 1 to 1 with Japanese Yenn since that's where Nintendo is. Animal Crossing: Wild World was my first Animal Crossing game. I played it on my DS and loved it. It was actually so similar to this original game. On Saturday mornings, my sister and I would play together and visit each other's towns. Oh, and Mr. Resetti always terrified me. 😂
I can’t believe so much time has passed that now we’re re-discovering and explaining what Animal Crossing had ALWAYS been until New Horizons 😂 At 22, I’m officially OLD! I will never skip an OG Animal Crossing video ❤
It is hilarious to see people play the original Animal Crossing because it is so different from what we have today with New Horizons. I grew up with Animal Crossing on the Game Cube and it was a blast! It still is! I personally prefer all the older Animal Crossing games compared to New Horizons. Yes, the customization is new and amazing. However, I liked the feel of the old games and how rude villagers could be. Haha! I mean, sometimes it was unintentional when a villager was rude. It gave the villagers so much more character though! I hope that more people will explore the older games. They are so much fun.
Aww, your character looks just like my first Animal Crossing character did! 😄 I played the hell out of this as a kid, it's definitely harder compared to the quality-of-life changes in the newer games, but there's a charm to the original that I don't think has been fully replicated since. I do think my favorite villager interactions were in Wild World, it's a happy medium between the snark of the original and the over-friendliness of New Horizons 😆
the original Animal Crossing is a game about getting scammed by some loan shark mafia who's got your personal information which he got from some guy flirting with you on the train.. moral of the story: if a stranger asks to sit next to you, say no
I just bought Animal Crossing on Switch in end of January of 2024 and my mom got jealous and bought a Switch Lite with Anaimal Crossing included and now we're addicted to it
I actually used to have Alli in my New Horizons island (she moved away), and she was REALLY NICE! Just goes to show how big if a change in personality these characters have gotten over time.
Mostly because all types (grumpy, sister etc etc) have the same diaglogue as each other, and they're automatically now your friend, rather than having to get them to warm up to you first and gradually start to like you. At least that's what I've been able to work out. I really miss the Grumpy and cranky villagers actually being.. well.. grumpy and cranky lol
I'm so amused by your interpretation of this game. It was my first Animal Crossing, and skipping over an entire generation (from DS/Wii to Switch), plus New Horizons being the first AC game I know of where there isn't a pre-existing town to move to, meant that my very different experience of the game was the other direction.

You barely scratched the surface of how brutal 100%ing the game is. If you want a full collection log, you need to play daily FOR YEARS. You want all of the K.K. Slider songs? Every Saturday, 8pm-midnight, you must request a specific track from K.K. Slider at the train station. He will give you ONE song per week. How do you even know what the songs are called? Visit villager homes until you see that they just happen to have a stereo and just happen to have ONE track in it, so you know what to request from K.K. How many songs are there? 55. There are 55 songs, 12 of which are ONLY available with an e-reader. This is *JUST* the music tracks. If you want all the fish, you have play different times of day, different times of year, and there are some fish that only appear for like a week in september, and if you don't catch it the first time for that day, it won't spawn again till the next day. Insects are the same way. Fossils are easy enough, but still take a few weeks of finding all 5 fossils EVERY DAY. For art, you need to be randomly visited once a week by Redd, who may not even have a painting that day! The 3rd house upgrade costs $398,000 bells! Assuming you pay 10,000 bells PER DAY, that's OVER A YEAR PAYING OFF 1 UPGRADE. I didn't even mention that Tom Nook won't keep a consistent price for fish and insects. You can only sell about 10-15 fish to him before he starts paying like 80 bells each instead of 800-1200. Then the price resets the next day!
The old Animal Crossings are so special. 🤣 They're the perfect games to play over time, because you look forward to just talkign with the villagers. You never know what they come up with! My favoruite conversation to date was Purrl absolutely SHAMING me for walking a round with a fish in my pocket, only so she could scam it off me and eat it. 🤣
The original animal crossing characters were more aggressive, but they feel more rewarding to befriend because of it. Also why does everyone rag on my boy Rover? He's just trying to be friendly!
Theres no way this just dropped after i finished watching the compilation of all the other AC videos, now i can continue to watch Kronk Nook terrorize people yay!

Miss opportunity to visit the island, and having a one in eight chance to see THAT villager, or technically now islander. This was her debut game, shocking since she uh, didn't become 'famous' until much later.
The bit that Roald said about buying more shit from Nook is a hint towards game progression. Nook's store expansion is conditional on spending a threshold number of bells there.

MY BRAIN CRAVES FOR MORE OF AN TOWN,but if needed take your time?
Your Tom Nook impression is also a fantastic Patrick Warburton impression.
The OG animal crossing was such a different game compared to New Horizons. I miss it.
1:12 THE MEMORIES ARE FLOODING IN!
They are so much fun.
piracy isnt a crime in my book 🔥🔥
Gokai change motherf**kers!
How
It’s not a crime when it’s triple A devs or when the game has been discontinued
Make sure you support indie creators tho
He isn’t commuting piracy he is using a REAL GameCube and REAL game bought on something like eBay.
@@HxdrxYT yeah I know
Future Animal Crossing titles may have their strengths, but the 1st game Peaked in terms of the Villagers Roasting you.
I swear these videos end in a heartbeat 💀
6:04 hello everbody my name is markplier to day we gona play five night at freddy
Quietly: “Turtle soup.”
*Laughs insanely*
“SOR-EE.”
😂💀 10:16
2020 was certainly.. a year and I feel like animal crossing was the thing that healed everyone for a good while
Man you really had the best character design you can get (imo at least)
Aww, your character looks just like my first Animal Crossing character did! 😄 I played the hell out of this as a kid, it's definitely harder compared to the quality-of-life changes in the newer games, but there's a charm to the original that I don't think has been fully replicated since. I do think my favorite villager interactions were in Wild World, it's a happy medium between the snark of the original and the over-friendliness of New Horizons 😆
Well done getting Patrick Warburton to guest star on your video.
This music is still my favorite, the 3pm meow is always the best because that’s when I would get on after school ❤
A guy with an animated poke-tuber avatar firing shots at white bookshelf dorks. What a time to be alive.
The 4th anniversary of Doom eternal is coming soon too
I love to see a sequel video to this!
the original Animal Crossing is a game about getting scammed by some loan shark mafia who's got your personal information which he got from some guy flirting with you on the train..
moral of the story: if a stranger asks to sit next to you, say no
I just realized that when you enter your inventory in the OLD GAME, everything (ex: rain/snow) FREEZES.
0:10 We still aren't allowed to talk about that?
I guess...
We can't even use the word in youtube titles without it saying "GET TO KNOW THE LATEST NEWS ABOUT _____-19"
I can't lie, that transition to the sponsor segment was smooth af
This game was my life growing up. Rented it from BlockBusters and was instantly hooked because of the active real world time gameplay.
He needs a restraining order from Rover
I just bought Animal Crossing on Switch in end of January of 2024 and my mom got jealous and bought a Switch Lite with Anaimal Crossing included and now we're addicted to it
OG Animal Crossing remains my favorite entry. The soundtrack, the slightly surly attitudes of the villagers, the atmosphere, it's all sublime.
Why does rover sound like Willem Dafoe?!?!?
you don’t know how HAPPY i was when you named it “An Town” instead of “A Town”
Please continue this classic! There’s so much more to see and do that’s (somewhat) different from the newer games.
God I feel old. Lol. I was 18 years old in 2001. I adored my Animal Crossing on GameCube.
I really miss the Grumpy and cranky villagers actually being.. well.. grumpy and cranky lol
making rovers voice sound like john mulaney was so unexpected but it fits so well lmao
It's so weird to me that people are just now playing the older games. It's nice though
4:43 was awsome
Idk if you meant to make Rover sound like John Mulaney. But I found it hilarious
and nook sounds like joe from family guy
3:55 YOU MIGHT REMEMBER HIM ON NEW LEAF😭😭😭😭😭😭
6:48 editing was perfect lol
They are all so mean in this game. I love it so much
I'm so amused by your interpretation of this game. It was my first Animal Crossing, and skipping over an entire generation (from DS/Wii to Switch), plus New Horizons being the first AC game I know of where there isn't a pre-existing town to move to, meant that my very different experience of the game was the other direction.
Please continue this series and if it gets a bit stale move to another game I love your animal crossing stuff please don’t stop
6:33 bells are actually more akin to a cent since they’re based off japanese yen so you’re actually getting a really good deal
the tom nook misinfo needs to stop not only are his prices dirt cheap you can pay him back whenever and he even donates 90% of his profits to charity
I played this game so much as a kid!
An town is love, An town is life
Roald may be lost in the sauce, but I love him 😅🤣💙
the paying your debt reminds me in pikmin 2 when you're paying the company's debt.
.... Tom nook with Warburton's voice is.. Something else
You learn the envelope-hoarding technique fairly quickly on your own.
bro why does Tom nooks voice sound like the wolf from hoodwinked 😂😭💀
Loved this video! My kids and I played this all the time, so different from New Horizons.
Least good animal crossing video ive seen. If i hadnt been washing dishes id have closed it way earlier.
Pate being a duck is crazy too. It’s probably pronounced pâté (pah-teh)
the fact that i grew up on this game and dont have any traumatic memories from it
It’s so interesting seeing people’s reactions to the original game 😂 as someone who’s played every game it’s jarring seeing the game change as it did
The old Animal Crossings are so special.
I can't wait for Footofaferret's reaction to Sonic the hedgehog 3 movie in December!!
I wasn't alive in 2001
Theres no way this just dropped after i finished watching the compilation of all the other AC videos, now i can continue to watch Kronk Nook terrorize people yay!
Is it just me or does it almost sound like Ryder is giving Rover a John Mulaney accent?
Nice transition!
All of the DOOM crossover memes will always hold a spot in my heart.
Footofaferret posts!! well that just made my week!!
Watching this while I wait for Animal Crossing to download on my switch. I finally decided to buy it this morning, and it's taking forever to download.
Miss opportunity to visit the island, and having a one in eight chance to see THAT villager, or technically now islander. This was her debut game, shocking since she uh, didn't become 'famous' until much later.
Hmmm, why does this concept feels so familiar*cough Jaidenanimations cough*
RIGHT WTF i felt that way and couldn't find anything similar in the comments lmao
IKR 😭🤚🏻
The bit that Roald said about buying more shit from Nook is a hint towards game progression. Nook's store expansion is conditional on spending a threshold number of bells there.
