the Rhythm Heaven series has a lot of weird specific games that people find either simple or hellishly difficult with little in-between. jerma's drumming background is probably why he found most of the sustained beat games easy (Monkey Watch, Donk-Donk) but struggled with the more distracting audio cues. or maybe he's just a neurotic weirdo who knows
he had some trouble with the distant parts of air rally which made me think he was using visual cues too much Idk about every level but most levels in rhythm heaven can be played with your eyes closed. He also counts to the beat so it's not like the counting should be putting him off rhythm
@@watam8 i don't think he'd have much issue with Lockstep, actually! it's similar to Monkey Watch in that switching from offbeat to on-beat is handheld through the sound cues. Monkey Watch's offbeats tells you to tap on the "kii"s ("oo-KII, oo-KII KII") while Lockstep's on-to-off cue has you basically tapping on each syllable ("HAI HAI HAI, HA-HAH" where the "ha-HAH" is the exact moment you swap to offbeat). the off-to-on cue is weirder to explain via text but is a very similar gist, and after the customary stumbling around in the tutorial trying to get the hang of swapping, i think jerm would understand fast. Tacozone I would say playing an instrument helps but it’s more how good your rhythm is. (How good you are a keeping and recognizing rhythms. Not necessarily if you can sense when you are off rhythm. Though that is a good skill too) I played it with fellow ex band kids and they sucked at it for quite a while. I got a hang of it pretty quickly like Jerma. I didn’t play drums (always wanted too but I couldn’t roll in the middle school auditions so they shoved me to flute) but even though my flute was shit I had good rhythm. My friends are definitely odd balls for being in decently high chairs in band but not being able to pass (yes pass) Hole in Ones. I think they could tell when they were off rhythm but didn’t know how to recognize or maintain rhythm without sheet music or a conductor to help guide them back on beat. Things went down hill as soon as they messed up once. They couldn’t get back on beat. Can a musical background help? Yes. Will it 100% of the time. Lol fuck no.

Cheer Readers is a great concept. Annoying students trying to study in the library with loud chants in the guise of cheering them on is a hilarious idea.
And then Cheer Readers 2 is in a museum? That cheer squad girls are grade-A trolls who only go to shout at places you are supposed to keep quiet. "LETS GO READ A BUNCH OF BOOKS!!!"
Exactly. One of my favorite mitigates because the fail screen is realistic and hilarious

5:14:52 for the best part of the stream
Do you know the actual video name?
I hope he considers playing Megamix soon. This series definitely deserves more love
ThePLUSHIE He’s right, the soundtrack absolutely needs to be in Smash. A lot of the same staff worked on WarioWare, so I don’t think it’d be hard to get the rights to the audio or visuals.
M. Wayne I believe Monkey Watch, Blue Birds, and one other (I think it’s called fruit basket?) are in smash

Amazing playthrough! I really hope they make a new one for the Switch.
Can I just go on a rant and say HOW HARD LOVE RAP 2 IS? I’m not talking about the game itself, nonono, I’m talking about the dang scoring system. Wanna know how many “barely misses” you can get before losing the superb? Less than 3. Which means if you miss twice, you lose the superb. I just spent 30 mins getting that superb so yeah. Thank you for listening to my rant and have a good day

update: he just does it for the characters that have rat energy
Wasn't it the Shpee voice first?
@@appliedatoms7066 it was grandpa first
He bary starts the practice in 26 minutes
Rat energy is a new term I’ll be using now, thank you
This is my first Jerma stream too and I already 100% understand what you mean by him only doing the voice for characters with rat energy
I can't believe I forgot how good almost all of the songs in this game are.
I only remembered the remixes but goddamn, most of the songs are bops.
These are the shortest 8 hours I've ever watched, this stream was fun as hell
He's surprisingly good for someone who hasn't played the game before, lmao I was hooked! ...or maybe 2012-me just needed to git gud...
It's almost like he used to play the drums
@@kingnarwhal2532 I used to play an instrument for three years, so its significantly easier to play I guess.
Did he play the ds game?
@@kingnarwhal2532 idk if I'd call this even mediocre.
HE failedremix 9 several times, I didn't watch every single game, but seeing how long it took him to just clear all 50? drums didn't help him one bit.
And here's some salt in the wounds : the US version of this game is easier on you when it comes to judgement timing.
streamer admits losing to pinwheel 2:33:00
Shoutout to that time Jerma played like 15 seconds of the Monkey Watch practice and immediately downloaded the entire game into his brain. On real hardware, too.
remix 9 has no business going that hard holy damn. like remix 10 was a decent challenge but it feels like more of a medley to see if you actually remember every minigame rather than a proper remix
remix 9 just slaps tho so does karate joe 2
karate man 2 in fever is good, but trapped in the rain 2 from the DS one is just SO good
I spent a whole sick day watching this. It was well worth it.
get well soon
4:01:15 Jerma just came up with the idea of lag in rhythm games.

Actually, MicroRow doesn't work correctly when streamed for whatever reason.
@@Flipsie27 only emulated rhythem heaven does that =p
you can fix Shrimp Shuffle with a setting in Dolphin, but micro-row 1 is impossible to play emulated on Fever.
You can play Micro row 2, and when it appears in remixes, for whatever reason.
super ecstatic that he's finally played a Rhythm Heaven game. but also feel a bit sadden after watching it all the way through.
