I remember being really impressed with the damage physics in this game when I played it in the 90s. It's honestly still impressive to me, most modern racing games can't even simulate damage that well.
This will be you in the next 20 years. I was really impressed with a game named [insert game] in the 2010ns now kids just play the games which isn't that impressive than the older ones that I've played
Still quite a good looking after 24 years. And the physics is better than a lot of stuff these days. But truth be told: I mostly enjoyed to wreck stuff in this game back in the day.
Is this the game where you can totally customize your car? I remember making an all black car with skull and crossbones and then going around and wiping everyone out. I found a guy online selling discs that will play on win 10 for like 17 bucks. I think im going to pull the trigger on it.
I was given that very game from my Grandfather. I tried to play it on my schools computer but the thing that needs to be enabled to play a 16 bit game on a 64 bit PC was disabled and that area was locled and needed an admin account. But I learned something interesting, turns out that my school has Computers from 2012 with warranties that expired 4 years ago
Well, I don't know why you think it is rather simplistic in physics, because the level of customization this game allows is pretty much insane! Weight distribution, tire pressure, suspension angles. Since it's been at least 20 yrs from the last time I've played it, don't remember about gear ratios or maybe engine setup, but pretty sure it offers something along those lines too. Even the graphics were impressive back in the day, for those lucky few who could afford 4 megabyte video cards, lots of memory and a fast processor. Anyway, congrats, you're a far better player than I ever was LOL
Lol, thanks. Well, I speak about the physics from a modern perspective. Undoubtedly, at the time, NR2 was probably the most realistic sim on the market. And it's still a helluva lot of fun (if not bloody frustrating at times).
I came here because of that. It’s so disappointing. If you had Heat 4 graphics with these physics (which are terrible compared to what they could be with today’s technology) it would be a game unmatched by any other. And it’s a shame 704Games won’t put in the work to get those physics.
I don't have the discs, but I have the pack downloaded from somewhere. I think you just need to copy the files over to your HDD and run the installer through DOSBOX. I did this once with the ICR2 patch and it worked a treat.
I remember when I was playing this when I was a kid, I would do my best to take out all the other drivers, I would make races be as long as possible and my goal would be to kill off other players without killing myself, repairing and doing the same thing with the next opponent. It was a lot of fun.
@@OldRacingGames if you dont have any luck gettin f1 99-02 working you should look up the various f1 racing game forums as you can find actual full self-contained mods of F1 99-02 that will feature pretty much every F1 season out there - i have a version for 2018 even that includes even the halos. the original game should work with the use of a no-cd and then either Dgvoodoo or Dxwnd - make sure when doing the F1config run it separately first and run it as a admin and with winxp compat on it, i had to do that to get F1 2000 and F1 2001 working right.
@@divinuminfernum Thanks for the tip, I actually have F1C working just great with a standard NOCD patch. I have to use a frame limiter as well, otherwise my PC tries to draw 400fps and then starts to overload. You can check out one of my other videos where I do a race at Spa.
@@OldRacingGames oh thats great - its good that there are a few different ways to get these old EA racing games working - what frame limiter do you use? i just discovered that my nvidia cpl has a frame limiter in it whihc is very useful for getting Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 running at the right frame rate
@@divinuminfernum Rivatuner Statistics Server. Apparently my ATI card cannot limit the FPS on a game as old as F1C (I can't remember exactly what the internet said about DX version and frame limiting...). Good find about MGPRS2! I also found the same trick with F1RS. Locked to a very odd 94fps to get 1 second in game the same as 1s in real life...

the damage realism is unmatched in racing games Games like Wreckfest and beam ng are good with damage too but they were not designed as a racing game
@@canadiancatgreen wreckfest is a racing game and beamng is gmod but cars. You can mod it to become a racing game
@@siphobrisloks8133 yes true but these NASCAR games i think had best damage for a racing game those are both great games too
Modern games can't simulate damage because it's bad advertising for those cars.
This game still has better driving physics that today’s NASCAR games (minus NR2003 and IRacing).
I loved driving backwards and smashing into the cars to see how many cars I could wreck
Holy fk I thought I were literally the only one to do this since 1996 when I was 5yo ahahah nice one :D
Count me in
Same
Chaotic Neutral
Same :P
Same guys who made Iracing. Crazy what they could do in the 90s
I got this game at a book fair when I was in grade school. I loved it.
Shit I remember those huge ass boxes that pc games had back then, and in book fairs thats all I cared about really lol

PAINT CAR
i miss old days...
Great video! Takes me back. Burton was always a pain to pass. Car looked a little tight. I used to mess with the car setups for hours at each track

i used to turn around and drive the wrong direction and run head long and cause the biggest pileup i could and watch the replay

Thanks for sharing this! I remember playing this game when i was like 13 years old with a Trustmaster Steering Wheel/Pedals on PC ! 🤩

I have such fond memories of this and TEN.
I loved running seasons made up entirely of custom opponents. I played this game from when I was 7, up until 12, i think. 🏁
Very realistic. Try indycar racing 2 from papyrus, best racing game ever.
I will give it a try in a future video, thanks!
Agreed
Loved the Papyrus games. Wish it would be possible to play on my PS4 haha.
I loved picking Bristol Night race back in '96. I was 15 then.
How can i change the camera? thanks
how do you switch views while racing? trying to watch the whole thing instead of only seeing through the windshield D:
What music did you use for your intro?

@@goatifi5183 you might wanna look into NR2003
Is there anyway to figure out how to add the GN expansion back from 1997 to this? I own the discs of these games if somehow that would help.
You can find that expansion on MyAbandonware I believe

Looks amazing for 96 as only console game to compete was the original Gran Turismo
Destruction Derby
is this with voodoo or something? the graphics seem better than usual
Voodoo 2
Michael Waltrip was the one who crashed in Turn 4 at 4:20.
You went full Logano on Jeff Burton!
thx I was trying to figure out who that was
I loved playing but never had audio
Did you know how to play with another car? I want to play with Jeff Gordon
Please do what I did
Have ur cars damage turned off and everyones on and just wreck em slowly lol
That would be a very easy way to victory xD
this is much more realistic than nascar heat 3. sad. by the way, i couldnt get f1 99-02 to work on my windows 7 even with your ultimate soultion...
Sorry to hear about that. If I get it working myself, I'll let you know. I found the disk last week.
